Located on New South Wales' Mid-North Coast, we're a touring business with a difference! We take customers for rides with our off-road capable motorcycle/sidecar outfits. Rides from about an hour to five hours, on and/or off-road, or just a ten minute ride round town to see if you like the experience. Customise your ride, or leave us to make up a mystery ride, going where even our riders don't know until the night before!
We have set rides for set prices, "mystery" tours where your Rider/Tour Guide will take you to some lovely spots via amazing scenic tracks, or you can customise your experience.
Our backyard includes mountains, waterfalls, forests, lookouts, farms, beaches and the odd cafe.

the chook? 😂
@@maruschke2911 She belonged next door to the café we were lunching at. Her owners are friends of ours. The chook is an escape expert. We nicknamed her "Schnitzel". lmao
Ah! You're not Australian, so don't know that "chook" is a colloquial name for hen, or chicken. lol
@@epicridesandtours yes, that was my problem. 😝 Thank you for the clarification. So now I can say, I‘ve learned something new today. ☺️
@@maruschke2911 it's a good day then! 😁👍
I will be attending this years rally. I have a Ural Retro. Longer, lower and wider than the others. I won't be subjecting it to this kind of punishment. I would rather stay on the bitumen.
@@sidecarmisanthrope5927 Definitely. The Retro, I believe, has the traditional front forks on the front, where other models have the trailing/leading link. I think this was the toughest Annual Rally ever. Previous rallies have been on far less challenging dirt roads. Still a good adventure, though. If you haven't done so already, search for Greg Jansen's YT channel, as he has a few vids of previous rallies. I've put a link on our home page.
@@epicridesandtours : You are right. The retro has telescopic forks. But by all accounts, they still handle better than other Urals.
Typically the LED lead is powered in the "ON" function of the switch, to indicate switch is activated / lights ON..
Yep. You'd think so, but what I found was the LED is a separate circuit, requiring it's own "live" supply. The switch has a permanent "live" supply, as I mentioned in the vid, which allows the driving lights to be activated when the ignition is off. (I suppose there may be a need for this "feature", so I won't be changing that) I didn't show my testing, which I perhaps could have, with hindsight. When connecting the switch to the existing wiring, the LED remained on when ignition was off, as it was getting it's "live" feed from the same source as the switch, which I don't like. The way I wired the job leaves the LED off, until the ignition switch energises it. Someone else may not like it that way, which is fine. Perhaps I should have drawn a circuit diagram. Maybe a subject for a future short vid. Thanks for your comment, it's got that stodge between my ears stirring. :)
Nice video! That Ural motorcycle is famous for its off-road capabilities. Two questions please if you guys could help me? 1) Does the Ural function better off-road when it has a passenger weighing down the sidecar? 2) What are the job duties of the sidecar rider? Thanks.
Thanks for your questions. 1) A skilled rider can keep the sidecar down without a passenger or baggage. That applies whether on or off road. Our No 2 Rider, Justin, is good at "flying the chair". 2) At one point in the ride shown in this video, Heff had to get out and walk, so extra weight can be performance reducing. (Heff weighs in at around 100 Kilos, plus gear). The sidecar passenger (also known as "chair monkey") can assist the Rider by leaning in the direction of travel, though most of our customers are happy sitting still. Racing sidecars require a great deal of work from the passenger, but Urals aren't designed for that kind of use.
Nice work Heff. How did you tighten up the studs?? Back to back nuts?
Thanks for your question. The studs have to be fitted through the matching holes in the swing arm, Haitch. Then, the Nord Locks. Finally, the nuts. I have more detailed video clips yet to upload, which will make that part clearer.
We discovered a place like this on one of our Louisiana, USA rides. Love these old time stores for sure. Thanks for sharing
Thanks for your comment. This sort of place really does hold so much of our heritage. We would encourage everybody who sees this, to do at least one road trip off the motorways, and stop to check out places like this.
😂😂😅
Look familiar. UAR day 1. I think? Loverly old bridge. Not much parking if I remember. Good job to highlight that one.
Cheers Haitch. I didn't do UAR day 1, as I was unsure my ankle would handle it, and Justin wasn't available to ride. But I believe Kindee Bridge was one place they went. There's a road from Beechwood that turns to dirt, and brings you out on the Oxley Highway via this bridge.
Keep it going Bro
Doing my best. lol
😊 ❤ Uradventure❤
Yep. 😁 Gotta love 'em!
Keep going Heff. This vid will be helpful to many others. Good job.
Cheers, Haitch! More Episodes to follow! :)
Good video! I recently had to do basically the same to mine for a leaky rear main bearing carrier plate. It's a beast of a job for sure. Well done
Cheers, John. More to come on this job.
Nice work Heff. What was the brand you changed to?
I didn't look for branding, to be honest, Haitch. Without a horn, Dusty was unroadworthy, so I nipped into our local A1 Auto in The Chop, bought one, and fitted it. There's a small adjusting screw on the rear side, which I may experiment with, but it's seriously tight, and set off a trigger finger reaction. lol Old age gets us all, eventually.
@@epicridesandtours Thanks mine is ok for now. Just getting the stutters lol.
Haitch, I had a rummage in my workshop bin. The hooter's a Narva.
@@epicridesandtours Thanks mate.
Was one of the very 1st things we changed on ours when we got the bike. The factory one was just way to embarrassing to use. :) Atlanta, Georgia, USA
Hi John. Which brand did you switch to?
The factory ones are shocking, agreed. I still don't like this one much, but it's a lot louder.
The self sealing tape is there to (hopefully) prevent moisture from running down the cabling, into the loom behind the headlamp.
If you would, please comment with your viewpoint of having a 1wd vs 2wd Ural. I'm thinking about buying a Ural and asking if having a 2wd is an option highly recommended. My intention in purchasing a Ural is to have the option to do more off-road riding. Having the added benefit of reverse is a big reason that I'm considering the Ural. I'm almost 70 years and need all the help I can get if I'm going off the asphalt. Thanks for your time and perspective.
I've only ever needed 2wd a couple of times. The Ural Rally 2003 videos show 2wd in action on deep, soft sand, going uphill. Long sections of soft mud should be similar, but a lot also depends on how "aggressive" your tyres are.
@@epicridesandtours I'll check out that video. Thanks
@@ironheadbro You're welcome, mate. I'm 66, and still ride two wheelers. As a business, we operate two Urals. A 2011 Tourist and a 2021 Gear Up. The rally vids show the Gear Up, and several other 2wd in heavy sand which 1wd bikes wouldn't handle. Several of the riders that weekend are well into their seventies. The bikes are fun, but slow. (Like me. lol)
Yep. Just make sure you get the cotter the right way round.
G'Day Haitch. I know some people who'd jam it in, regardless, but the design makes it near impossible to get wrong. Another one of those things Ural has got right. lol
👍🏻
Ural sidecar!!😍👏👏👏👏🎊
MartyL here (2010 Gear Up)from Soviet Steeds. Looks like a fun time with those rigs with the sidecar on the wrong side 😉. I hope someday to visit you gents for one of these events. Peace….
We take customers on similar rides. 😁 And we'd be delighted to meet you if you can make the trip.
good stuff
We love that family!
Nice job guys n gals. Good weather too.
Cheers Haitch.
Wow great video got me one over here in new Zealand sitting at Port in wellington hopefully get it in two weeks pretty cool what it can do Cheers
We were greatly impressed with the capabilities of these units. We've been using them offroad, but some of these tracks were deep, soft sand. The Urals handled it well.
Looks like fun.
It was, Peter. Between Plomer Road and Maria River Road. Heff and Justin found more about the capabilities of Urals.
Great stuff
Looks like a wonderful road to cruise on and great camera work too!!
Thanks. We are lucky to live in this part of the World. There are possibly over 1,000 km of roads and tracks like this.
Good on you mate.😉
Cheers mate. We had a blast.
Wanna ride with you all😊😊

@@epicridesandtours sure... When i have holiday i'll go with you...
@@ChhuanteiSailo-sx7yq, we'd like that very much.
Nice one Heffy n Beffy. I have a 2022 as you know. The centre stand is still an abomination and largely unusable. Ural fixed the US side, but left our side alone. The end where the clod hopper is supposed to apply leverage is buried in the rod area that actuates the 2wd. Furthermore, if 2 of you and a block of wood manage to get the centre stand down, There is still not enough room to extract the 19" rear wheel assembly. That is the reason most remove the stand and carry a scissor jack. Thanks for the exhaust info. You reminded me to order some gaskets from Matthew at Uralla. Cheers mate.
Goodonyer Harry. The centre stand still caught when the bike was on stands, but dropping the stand gave the wheel it's freedom. :)
Okey-dokey. 😂🙂😂
That is a great addition to the garage and don't forget you can do the other ones too!!
Exactly. With three two wheelers and two sidecar outfits, it'll save plenty.
Beautiful pictures
Really beautiful market
Nice Mr Epic Rides!! :)
Thanks Mr Jim! 😀
Nice work. Great video . There should be more like it for AUstralian Lefty models. NOTHING exists for our lefties and I'm trying to fix that as well. So, well done. I am looking to do one for front and sidecar wheel change(as the new ones need sleeves) Also, a speedy rear change. Plus, shock change and sc drive chnge to cv. No one here seems interested. Posted the first 22 rear wheel removal/refit which was met with criticism. 8 month on and still no one else has done one. Rant over. Cheers.
Thanks Harry. I shared this vid to an FB group or two. It got a few "Likes", but the only comment I got was "And your point is?" Some people just need to have a dig. I'm currently trying to solve an overheating issue with my Tourist. I've set the carbies right. (coffee-coloured electrodes on the sparkers) But the problem hasn't been fully cured. New sparkers fitted, along with the CDI module. Next step, the Hall sensor and coil pack. I'm taking photos like a Japanese tourist, and will collate them into a video, for those who understand sharing info.
@@epicridesandtours . Some of the comments come about because the video has been done..The solution is out there. Just perfect for a know all to "have a go" at his 5 seconds of fame.
@@haitch1980 Trolls everywhere.
@@haitch1980 I just remembered what I wanted to ask you. Your latest vid, mentions engine temp. Are you checking it just out of curiosity, or is there a maximum temp you're aiming at keeping below? That, and how are you checking the temp?/where's the heat sensor? I have an old multimeter somewhere that has a thermocouple for temp sensing, but it'd be a pain to use on the Tourist.
@@epicridesandtours Heff I cant speak for all of the model years, but my 2022 and I think all the EFI models have a heat sensor just below the right throttle body. Some early units had a sensor on both sides. I am lead to believe it will trigger an overheat mil light at 170c to 175c. 2022 is the first of the high compression motors. There have been a number of piston failures (holes) I believe exacerbated by poor fuel. Recommended fuel is 98 RON.minimum 95 RON. My testing is to verify for myself how quickly temps rise and fall based on load and the ambient conditions. I was using a laser style hand held gun early on. Now, I can monitor live head temp via an OBD2 connection to the ECU Port and read it of a phone app. Eg the short run in the last vid to "the bog" ambient temp about 27c, first gear, idling a few minutes , checking bog depth, return and drive back out saw 153c. I think there is a risk during low speed operation eg first gear negotiating technical terrain, high ambient temps, fully loaded and wrong fuel. In addition, the manual states/requires a 20min engine rest after 2hrs continuous use.
I hope you see this as constructive criticism. I love what you are trying to do with UA-cam and promoting the business. I have been to these falls and I wonder why the majestic scenery is presented in portrait mode and not landscape. Nobody does a movie in portrait. Cinema is all 16:9 or wider to capture wide, big picture. Details can be zoomed in from there. Only my opinion, but landscape provides a bigger picture for customer attraction.. cheers
All criticism regarded as positive, Harry. :)
Good work Heff
Cheers Steve. :)
Nice one Heff. I like the video in pic concept.. But still prefer a single pic with voice over for techie stuff..perhaps starting with the collective pics. Then go to full screen single pic with a detailed voice over. Hope that makes sense. Trying to provide constructive critique. Good job none the less.
Cheers Haitch. I'm currently using a combination of applications, but the only one that allows me to put music on a specific segment, and NOT have it spread all over the rest of the vid, blotting out the voiceover is MS PowerPoint. I haven't used it in years, so re-learning some features, and learning where M$ has moved the useful bits to. lol Constructive critique is welcome! 👍
@@epicridesandtours I have been using Filmora by Wondershare for the last couple of years. It is relatively cheap for a lifetime subscription. But is packed with pro features at a budget cost. Importantly, it doesn't care where the footage or audio comes from, and its easy to use after a bit of a trial. The other one I use for short sharp media stuff is called Quik. By gopro, but it doesn't care where the footage comes from either. Both use music audio without copyright constraints. My travel vids on my UA-cam channel are all from Quik. I also note that Glenn uses Quik as well. Hope this helps. I am currently a little quiet. Till I develop a drone tracking process for up close 3rd party footage. Brain is in overdrive. Cheers mate. Have a great new year to you and yours.
@@haitch1980 I've just downloaded the free version of Filmora, so I'll be going through the online tutorials for a while, and trying it out. Cheers for the pointer!
@@epicridesandtours Good luck mate. Best value for $$ I know. You will have a watermark until you pay. Best part is its a once of payment. Not a subscription. Registration and the like is a bit strange. Wondershare is the parent. Filmora is one of the products. All rego etc is with the parent. If I can help pm me on FB
Sure is! :)
