@@CameronSchultzFC it’s so hard to call this league- it can quickly change with a handful of results! If I had to place a bet right now on who will win the league I’d still put it on Sunderland! I think Sheff United, Boro, West Brom and Leeds could all be contenders for automatic spot!

It’s one of the hardest and most unpredictable leagues in Europe I’d say. With the heavy fixture schedule a run or dip in form can make such a difference 😂 I’d seen a lot of predictions for Sunderland 1st and I just had a gut feeling they’d need this year to adjust but apparently not lol. Sunderland, Watford and Blackburn have all pleasantly surprised me but I’d agree with your automatic places predictions based on what we’ve seen so far 😅

Don’t get me wrong I still love the premier league, but I certainly think the talent of clubs in La liga, bundesliga, serie A and the Brazilian Serie A are just as exciting to watch and tactically there’s always some teams that go against the normal style

From what I’ve seen Solly March is expected back before christmas so I went off of that. I assume by JP you mean Van Hecke and not Joao Pedro? If you do then I didn’t forget about him, I just chose not to include him because his stats and profile didn’t match the CBs at St Pauli as well as the others, but this was also a potential lineup so yes he could also play. Ironically Estupiñan (which you spelt wrong) averages more Blocks, passes blocked, interceptions, tackles + interceptions and clearances per 90 mins and also plays as a wide CB which from what I recall lamptey never has? Also Lamptey ranks in the bottom 7% for blocks and Aerial duels won, and the bottom 1% for clearances in the league? 🤷‍♂️

@captvimes I think estupinians stats and form dropped for 3 reasons: 1. He returned from a serious injury (which resulted in him getting injured again), 2. Brightons form overall dropped during the last months. Everyone player like shit and estupinians stats were affected. 3. Because brighton was plagued with massive amounts of injuries, estupinian had to play further up towards the end instead of the traditional fullback he is good at. Despite the stats, i would still prefer estupinian over lamptey overall. I would puy lamptey as a substitute for veltman on the right side. But if fabian goes back 3, then both should be on the bench. This comment is post-game 1 so he did the right choice with having hinshelwood there, even tho he was the weakest link. But there was no other choice

I think at the moment their is such an emphasis on the 325 shape in the premier league that a 235 with both wing-backs inverting will potentially open up to a different style of player. Also a centre back pushing that high isn’t over common (except for Stones/Akanji at Man City). Plus at times it can be like a 3-2-5 but with both wingers wide and both midfielders high meaning it sometimes looks like they have no midfield, which we’ve never really seen in the league either. Just my opinion tho ig

The FA would never go for a maverick manager like Beilsa etc whilst Howe will not leave Newcastle whilst too many IGNORANT BREXIT VOTERS will not except a Johnny Foreigner manager the only 2 options are Carsley & Harry Potter and I'm sure that the pair of them would do a better job on the pitch than Southgate

Very true! I think there are aspects of his game that both do and don’t fit into Hurzelers style but I’m a massive fan of his. As an outright wing-back I think he could develop into one of the best in his position, will be interesting how he plays in an inverted role (if he does)! 👍

I would love to see this but I’m not convinced it’s what Maresca will do, I assume he’ll stick to his 433 but I think a system with KDH and Palmer in the half-spaces with Madueke (and eventually a pathway for Estevao) playing out wide so they can use their 1v1 ability

Yeah I hope so, from what I’ve watched of Leicester when I was prepping for my last Maresca video I wouldn’t say they were constantly rotating but there is movement so I’m sure regardless we’ll see Palmer in both wide and inside positions

Whats the alternative? I do to an extent agree, but even if you swap Saka and Foden, there's no way Foden won't want to come central from that right wing position so we lose width that side (I don't think Walker overlapping is improvement to Tripper on the left), and our left back options aren't exactly strong. Obviously if Shaw was fit then he would provide much better balance I agree but whilst he's not, the only alternative is playing Gomez and then pushing Stones up to form that 3-2 base instead. Otherwise Trippier is probably the best solution we have in that current squad

Personally I think Trippier overlapping to provide width on the left is no worse than walker overlapping on the right. And Trent from that midfield role would attack the half space instead of overlap, but if you mean overlap from right-back then yeah i agree. No idea why we have Luke Shaw in that squad when he's not fit

I 100% agree. Kroos is one of the best and I’d argue one of Germanys greatest footballers based on his overall career. Like you say, teams need to find a way to stop Kroos getting on the ball too much but in doing so it creates pockets for Musiala or Gundo or Wirtz to drop into and pick up the ball easily so the opposition has to choose where they’re going to make a sacrifice. As much as I love this Germany side, like you say I think their main weakness is in defensive transition they could be caught out, especially by pace, against bigger sides but if they play sensibly and don’t commit to playing too high then I think they could cope.

I think it’s more the principle of stopping Kroos play deeper where he can play passes out wide in transition and trying to force Germany to play through the congested areas

I think I said in the video I’d be worried for Germany against a team like Hungary who could exploit that space in transition but as we saw a couple days ago, I think they made very slight changes that worked to maintain a compact defensive shape and their rest defence was on point. I would love a Germany vs Spain game soon as for me they’re the bigger teams that have shown what they’re capable of and living up to expectations Hahaha my dad always supports Germany but I was born and raised in England so regretfully I’ve always supported them (but if I could I would change based on Southgate alone) 😅😂

I just think Portugal’s squad depth is better than it’s ever been. More of a gut feeling but I just think they’ll have enough to beat the likes of Spain or Germany. They have a good set up for tournaments too
