Cz WRT MSRP. What did u pay for your. SR and your Z06 Also. I owned a 23 HTC non Z51. It came with NPP exhaust. Same as on the Z51. I prefer the non Z51. Better ride especially with the AS tires. Brembo brakes worked great. Mech diff was awesome. As you said, most of us will NOT track the car. I paid 5k over msrp for the SR. Now, I own a Z06. Love the car. Paid MSRP. Got an allocation and ordered what I wanted. Cheers

"Pontiac" was just a design team making Chevy cars more Pontiac--ish at that point, had nothing to do with it, Holden had a bit of a scandal with it, as they didn't want their super car rebaged as a Pontiac, thats why the word Pontiac is no place on the car until a mid model year change that also brought duel exhaust. Another side note, Australia has a law where major industry cannot be majority owned by a foreign country, GM never out right owned them, Holden stocks were bought and sold privately on the stock market. That makes this car absolutely a rebaged non GM import. Not 1 part was made in the USA and even the GM techs needed Holden licenses to unlock the PCMs.

Also some grandnational little known facts. Look at the car and driver old video on G body's. They show the monte carlo, olds 442, and pontiac 2+2. In the video he says the grandnational is the fastest production car for half the country for half the year. What he meant was when the weather is around 40 degrees or cooler these cars get a very substantial boost in horse power due to the cold weather. One of the guys on the production team stated the innercooled cars where well above 300hp in stock form. Car and driver did a 0 to 60 in 4.9 seconds multiple times on a cold Michigan day. Also they experimented with alcohol injection. There is actually a light in the dash that would illuminate when the alcohol would spray. He said they ditched it for safety reasons. If the would have went with the water/methonal/ alcohol spray it would have made the grandnational the fastest production car for over 40 years. The dash still has the marker for the spray but they pulled the bulb when they decided not to use it. When alcohol injection was added to my GN my builder Steve V one of the east coast best GN builders added the bulb back and mine now will illuminate under spray.

My dream car i bought in 2019. Loved it so much I bought a gmc typhoon. My slightly moded grandnational still with a flat tappet cam makes 500hp and 600tq. It's a monster because it starts early in the power curve where a 500hp mustang might have to rev high to hit max power. Upside GN a great 1/4 mile stop light car but no great top end past that.

I had a conversation with Jim Ruggles once......many years ago, he took delivery of one of the first 1987 Grand National GNX's in Atlanta, took it to his shop, took the air filter out of it and put 540 HP on his chassis Dyno!! I have always been drawn more toward Ferrari than Lamborghini…. The Countach is a very cool machine with no visibility to what’s happening on the road behind you. Very impractical for the road. The 308, also a cool machine, is more rewarding to drive. The Ferrari 512BB was the contemporary to the Countach and the much better all around sports car…. The Miura is, for me, the most beautiful sports car - ever. Fun vid!

The GNX was severely underrated in horsepower. They were pushing well over 300 horsepower. They kept the hp low because of insurance reasons

But what tons of people don't realize is that they could go get a 1984 Oldsmobile Cutlass T Type and have that same 87 GNX 3 years earlier. But who ever remembers the proto types. Even if you could buy them from a dealership

That car was the baddest car gm ever came out with. My buddy got one when he graduated high school from Sun Valley High School in 1987. He lost it in a curve and bent an axle. The first Positive traction rear end I ever went in. We changed that axle easy! B-Radtothebone.

As a grandnational owner there is no comparison. Its really a car that stands on its own. I like the monte carlo the only hang up is the power train. My grandnational is chiped better exhaust, upgraded fuel system, and a slightly bigger turbo. 500hp and 600tq. Stock rotating assembly. Some people don't even consider a grandnational a muscle car. The monte to me is a prime candidate for a LS swap.

I look at a z06 a MSRP as a beater you can drive without a large loss $$. exotics values are extremely mileage based costing owners $10 and up per mile which makes most owners only a care taker. I am sure putting 5000 miles on a z06 will not deprecate the car like it would on a exotic. I put 5000 miles on a lambo and it deprecated $60k

Chrysler is notorious for making something super limited production, making the customer pay a high figure for it and saying we will never produce this again. But then turning around 1-2 years later and producing an unlimited number of them. Happened with the hellcat Durango, RHD JL wrangler, etc.

Now that's slimy asf but hey, could be worse. They could have pulled a challenger and went "yeah this is it. They're all gonna be electric after this."
