I'm not going to lie one of the reasons I use my iPad to journal is so there is no way to get in. I have some way too nosey family members who would definitely read it, and when I write in it I can't have that in the back of my mind. Excited for you to be going back to college, I'm sure it will go great!

Hi Mina! You said a phrase that I always used during my time living in Korea (I lived there for 4 years): I'm not a mind reader. Whether it was through dating, work, church, or just friends in general, even though I'm aware of the whole concept of 눈치, I found myself coming to that conclusion a lot, and it did frustrate me. Hearing you say it helped me to finally feel understood in that aspect, so thanks for expressing that. And I related to the TCK factor of not knowing where you truly belong as well.

Mind reading, 눈치 or bluetooth pairing communication whatever we call it seems to be just a one way slightly abusive behavior for me, as I experienced it as a foreigner working in Korea.

I guess they struggle with identity crisis because it could be hard for them to find a social group where they feel they belong to while they were growing up. Mina has lived in so many countries before reaching adulthood and this could result to short-term friendships, separation anxieties, lack of belongingness and perhaps, identity crisis.

You still have hope! I am a Western woman and I have seen Koreans marry foreigners who are also Westerners, so how can you not find a good man who will love you? I think it would be good to establish a lasting friendship to see which man is really worth it and loves you just the way you are (obviously making some kind of change, since there are very different habits between ways of acting and thinking between different cultures). Ask to God a men that you want, he can give to you!

When hearing your story, did you firstly establish your communication style? I.e: "I prefer people to tell me their feelings openly and bluntly"? Otherwise he might not have known that thats what you like/prefer. He's also not a mindreader. I understand perspective though, clear communication is absolutely important, but perhaps from his perspective there are some things which would "kill" the chemistry/romance if it was explicitly said. That said, I've only just heard a very very very small portion of one incident so of course i won't have the full context (prior experiences between you two) and only heard one side

I don’t think it is simply a language thing, there are cultural things getting lost in the mix. It will a good amount of understanding and compromising on both sides.

I can relate SOOO much to this living is 6 countries before even graduating HS and speaking four languages just made it clear I cant fit anywhere at 100% . End result is having properties and businesses in different countries and just hoping between but definitely its a new generation dynamic in my opinion.
