The Best Bang For Your Buck? Canon 6D (PROs and CONs)
This is a review of the Canon 6D, evaluating whether it is still a good option to buy today, considering it features a Full Frame sensor.
The Canon 6D is one of those cameras I consider legendary for its time because, with its capabilities, it helped photographers capture more shots, making photography less frustrating and more enjoyable.

After i wateched all your video about rhe camera i just went to buy for my birthday gift 😅
Happy Birthday! Enjoy it! 😀
Thanks for the review. Just ordered a used one and it is a steal at used pricing. I do not plan on using this as my main pro camera. It will do well as a third back up or travel camera.
It's perfect as a backup or travel camera, and it's great that you found it at a good price! Enjoy!
im a beginner, i just want to take pics of my family and maybe video vlog. i want to print them out to put on my wall. im so basic. just want to make sure this is a good camera to use
Yes, absolutely - no doubt about that. And if you can find it in good shape at a good price, that's a bonus.
Great video...thank you for highlighting the camera does not draw power from the USB cable when connected to a computer in webcame mode. HUGE con and a deal breaker for me in purchasing this camera. Too bad as I really liked to the camera's form factor and thought it could work for me as a webcam. As a workaround I could connect it via the micro HDMI port to my "Roland Presentor" that would connect directly to the computer that we allow me to connect the USB C port to a power source thus delivering unlimted power to the camera.
Hi! Also watch my other video "The Canon V10 Solution For Charging and Streaming" - the solution for drawing power from the USB cable is to have a cable with two USB-C heads.
2000d?
Canon 2000D is a good camera for beginners, yes.
I'm looking at getting PS V10 to use as a 4K HDMI camera. Does it overheat when used with Clean HDMI external recording?
Yes, it does
@cameraexplorations Does the V10 overheat recording Clean HDMI externally with a USB C to C cable and USB C power supply? Normal USB power supplies provide +5V where a USB C power supply provides +12V, which produces less heat. This also makes it so you can use the Webcam mode without using the battery. I suspect it's the battery overheating.
This is my camera since 6 years ago and I still love using it now. the results are still gorgeous and I am happy with it.
It's nice to hear that!
I'm looking for a 4K HDMI camera for the studio with ultra-wide angle lens; this one seems perfect for me.
Good to see that this camera fits your needs! Be sure to check out my other video about this camera, 'The Canon V10 Solution for Charging and Streaming,' where I demonstrate that the camera turns off due to overheating after recording in 4K for 15 minutes. If this doesn't bother you, then it's the right camera for you.
@cameraexplorations I don't actually now how well it works an an HDMI camera. Do you know if it runs on battery in HDMI mode? In USB webcam mode it runs on battery and trickle charges, which sucks.
@@CaleMcCollough I haven't used the HDMI mode and don't have the camera anymore to test it, unfortunately; but I'm pretty sure it runs on battery only in HDMI mode.
@cameraexplorations It runs on battery in webcam mode but it does not say about HDMI mode.
Is it possible to transfer photo and video from lumix g7 to android mobile and in how many ways can it be easily transferred to mobile? It is very difficult and difficult to transfer from aap.
LUMIX Sync is the only way I’m aware of to transfer photos and videos directly to an Android device. The only alternative would be to transfer the files to a laptop or PC using a card reader and then move them to the Android device with a cable.
@cameraexplorations Thank you for your advice, I am currently preparing to buy a camera, my first choice is lumix g7, but I don't have a laptop to transfer video photos from android mobile, except that the camera's SD card can be used in mobile. to do
Hi, so you mean you can use it as a webcam and record 4k in live stream mode by usb c without a hdmi video capture card ? I though it was limited to 1080p or limited by your screen size resolution or something like that.
Yes, you don't need a capture card, it is plug and play (like a webcam). It can record in both 4k and Full HD, but I wouldn't advise recording in 4k for extended periods, since it overheats.
love this camera for videography
Why all of your daylight photos are overexposed?
I only see two that are overexposed, and that's when the sky occupies a lot of space in the frame. Either way, these are just quick snaps for fun, taken with a cheap camera to show that you can still have a good time even without expensive gear. That's the goal of the video.
The canon 80D is a wonderful camera today in 2024, I probably miss the IBIS, but you can compensate with good lenses, fast lenses and with IS. Like you said it is build like a tank.
The 80D is one of those legendary cameras. Although the 90D is newer and better (still without IBIS, though), it hasn't stayed in the public's mind like the 80D did. The same goes for the 60D and 70D. While they were good cameras for their time, the 80D has always been the standout star among them.
I had a 80 d and loved it sold it in 2020 I’m going to get another one, loved it !
Nice to hear that you like it so much that you want to get another one! I also miss my Canon 80D. I now have its smaller brother, the 77D, and I’m trying it out, but the 80D is better.
1:03 Incorrect sir. My Galaxy Z Flip 6 flips very well while recording
That's an exception, but indeed, it's a smartphone with a tilting screen. Good for you! Enjoy it!
Great camera. hideous battery life.
I agree.
was considering this as a first camera, this was helpful btw nice voice
Glad I could help and thank you!
protect your investment
Yeah my first camera is the canon 60d a camera from 2010 and it's great although the AF isn't the best it does most things well would recommend
Yes, I also owned a Canon 60D and completely agree with everything you've described here.
So which Canon would you recommend for beginners with great AF?
@@nami20622 tbh in still on the 60d but most newer than the 60d should be better sense as they all have dual AF unlike the 60d
Yes, newer Canon cameras with Dual Pixel AF technology offer better autofocus. The Canon 80D and 90D perform well, but for great autofocus, Canon's mirrorless cameras like the R50, R10, and R7 are excellent choices.
Pen F
Can you tell me what is the best camera for beginners who wish to use it primarily for simple photography and occasionally for videography?
There are many good options depending on the budget. At the moment, for me, the best one for photos and videos at a reasonable price is the Canon R10. If the price is too high, then a second-hand Canon 800D, 77D, or 80D is also a good choice.
I don't agree with this guy, a good camera not need to be a dslr or mirrorless
Of course not there are other good options, I was just talking about the best options, which are dslr and mirrorless cameras.
Uhm U look like Klaus Michelson 😅
Yes, it seems like I do look a bit like him. Thank you for the comment! :D
I wish they would update the firmware…..I feel they know this camera is great and they are refusing to update it
Yes, that's a disappointment, and they're not the only ones who do this. I've experienced it with other brands too... market segmentation.
Great point Photography influencers always flaunt thier leicas and Sony alphas etc and beginners watching this are thinking “I have to have that” They also go extra length to mention thier expensive kit to show credibility.
Well said! Thanks for sharing this!
bro said “don’t buy the canon v10, it is the best webcam in the world” 😂😂
I am having trouble with scrolling through images as it says highlight so how do i get out of that so i can scroll through images the way i scroll through images on my Nikon D5500. Its ok i have just fixed it. Had a good day
Glad you fixed it!
I have just bought this camera to go alongside my Nikon D5500
Canon EOS 77D ❤❤❤
THANK YOU for this video. I was considering this camera for my camera for my DJ live stream. The non charging while hooked up to PC and the bad low light performance were the deal breakers. Which budget camera would you recommend? I would be using the camera to hook to OBS for my DJ live streams where the camera is about 6-10' away from me in various lighting conditions. Taking to live concerts to get video clips everyday video/camera use.
A modern mirrorless camera is the best and safest option. That said, two good, inexpensive choices are the Canon R50 and the Sony ZV-E10. A good lens, tripod, and dummy battery are also needed for what you want to record. Hope this helps!
@@cameraexplorations I ended up buying (will be here this weekend) the ZV-E10 and 55mm F1.4 lens. I didn't even think about the dummy battery. Thanks!
DSLR forever!
I have had the 6D for a number of years. Fantastic camera. Has never let me down. Use it for everything except sports/actions shots which do not take much . When I do I have an older aps-c which I suits that purpose.
The 6D has better image quality than its bigger brother, the 5DIII, and that was amazing at the time. Just try to lift some shadows on both cameras.
Just bought an EOS 1200D as my first camera just to make my Instagram - posting photos of nature and books - a bit more professional. Very excited to use it!!!
Thank you for nothing
No problem
Great points.
Great review! Thank you 😊!
Glad you enjoyed it!
This is the next camera I want to get. When it came out, I didn't think much of it, but the good ISO performance and value for money have made me change my mind.
Yes, it’s the full-frame camera that gives the best bang for your buck today.
What is your opinion about the Canon 6D?
WRONG. Always survey the SH market and buy a body based on the amount of lenses available for the mount. Beginners aren't invested enough to buy new lenses for every situation. In Romania, most SH lenses are Nikon F mount, and Nikon DSLRs are cheaper than entry-level mirrorless aps-c. The entry-level sony a6000 is 400$ on SH full-box. Keep in mind that the minimum salary here is 700$. And the lenses are from 300$ and up ( f/1.8 ) for the E mount because of how sought they are. Always look for the prices of an APS-C body and an f/2.8 18-50mm lens before choosing a camera.
Thank you for adding this! Of course, the number of lenses available for a camera is important and should be one of the main deciding factors when choosing which camera to buy. However, this is just a nice addition to a short 42 second video where my goal is to encourage people to just start photography if they are passionate about it. Nowadays, there’s plenty of great gear available, unlike 15 years ago - this is what this video is about - a short message, like a quote, not a whole book about photography and how to pick gear. I appreciate your comment, though - the information you provided will definitely be useful for anyone reading the comments section, and it clearly comes from someone with good expertise.
I am planning to buy this Canon V10 for a video shoot in a Concert in Europe Don't you think it is advisable to use this type of camera..thanks.
Hi! I can’t say that I would recommend the Canon V10 for recording at a concert. Its low-light capabilities aren’t great, and the fixed focal length lens is very limiting. I understand its appeal due to the built-in microphones, but for better results, I would suggest renting a quality microphone to use with the camera + a standard mirrorless camera with a larger sensor and a fast zoom lens, like the Sigma 18-55mm f/2.8 (note: this lens is for APS-C sensor cameras only; it’s just an example). Hope this helps!
@@cameraexplorations Highly appreciated your advice. Any specific brand of handy video camera that I can buy for a beginner like me...thanks in advance
Although I recognize the value a handycam brings, I am not a big fan of them and wouldn't recommend them due to their limitations. A modern mirrorless camera, like the Canon R50 or Sony ZV-E10, is always the best choice if you're looking for something inexpensive. However, if you prefer a smaller camera or handycam, I would suggest the DJI Pocket 3 or, even better, the Sony ZV-1 as good alternatives to the Canon V10.
I was born that year 😂
😀👍
The Fujifilm xpro2 & 3 are my pick for sexiest camera design ever, but that Olympus is definitely second place in my eyes (third is a tie between the Nikon ZF and Yashica Electro 35GS)
You’ve got great taste! Yes, those models feature excellent designs.
Great video and review. Thank you for this.
Glad it was helpful! Thank you for this kind comment!
shooting smooth youtube video in dark room (proper light nd softbox) is challenging with this camera. cant go below 200 ISO, shadows are too sharp, when i try to enhance face smoothness, it automatically increase ISO . Even with adjusted settings (reducing sharpness, shadow) I am not geting good result, do i need to change lens?
A lens with a wider aperture and light adjustments can be helpful. It's always an option to switch to a camera that offers more flexibility, such as those designed for vlogging, like the Sony ZV-E10 or Canon R50.
The Olympus M10 was the first camera I fell in love with due to the excellent ergonomics. It was the first camera I owned that you could change settings with the camera up to your eye due to the excellent dials and thumb pad. I upgraded to the M10 Mark ii and still use that camera along with my M1 Mark ii and that will soon be replaced by a M 1 Mark iii. For anyone looking for a budget friendly camera, the M10 Mark ii is one of the best deals around if you but it used and get either a couple of the "kit" zoom lenses or a couple of the great f/ 2.8 prime lenses. The 45 mm prime f/ 2.8 is a real gem.
It's great to see you enjoying the E-M10! Thank you for sharing your story and recommendations!
I'm only interested to know if it can offer a clean feed over HDMI whilst recording 4K internally at the same time.
I didn't knew the answer to this, but whenever I have a question, I go on Google. I found out that yes, "it handles real-time image output to an external monitor/recorder via HDMI, while also recording video" in article by dpreview(dot)com. Also, the camera offers clean feed over HDMI.
Does having the screen pulled out (angled up) help reduce the overheating? What are better alternatives that avoid some of the cons of this camera?
Having the screen pulled out does help a bit to reduce overheating. The best alternatives to avoid the cons of this vlogging camera is just to get a normal mirrorless vlogging camera - you can't go wrong with a Sony ZV-E10 or Canon R50.
Have this for 7 years in Wedding events. Much more respect. 📸
I have good 6 to 7 months of experience with dslr and want to buy a mirrorless camera but on a tight budget I have picked up the options of sony a6100, canon r50, nikon z30 and this camera what would you recommend and if any other than these then also could you suggest,I am so confused 😅
All three are good options, but the Z30 lacks a viewfinder, which is crucial for the feel and control you have while shooting. Choosing between the R50 and A6100 is tough. The R50 is more for vloggers, but benefits from Canon’s excellent color science and brilliant autofocus. It also performs well for photography but lacks dual dials for quickly adjusting the shutter speed and aperture. The A6100 is compact and capable, but its technology is old (2019), its autofocus is good but not outstanding, and its color science, particularly for skin tones, makes the faces slightly yellowish. That said, I’d personally invest a bit more in the Canon R10 - it’s a fantastic choice, in my opinion. Plus, an adapter for it would give you access to a wide range of affordable Canon DSLR lenses. For further research, try searching for comparisons like “Canon R50 vs Sony A6100 camera decision” , this will take you to the camera decision website that compares their specs. I hope my advice helps!
Yes it does thanks a lot although I can't spend more to buy r10 it is a bit too expensive 😅 I am thinking of a6100 only 😊
You can go for the A6100; it’s a good camera. The most important thing is to enjoy what you’re doing - the process of taking photos - as you’re taking them. All the best! 😊
