I have multifocals and was wondering how precise they’d be with matching the exact places that each focal length needs to be, and/or how good I would be at measuring it correctly if it was up to me to do so. I reckon maybe I’ll order the frames (or perhaps non-prescription lenses in them, as they don’t seem to have an option to order absolutely empty frames) and then get my optometrist to make the lenses and fit them.

I think I met your daughter? maybe? at the Birchwood show. She asked me what pattern I used to make my top. Tell her for me it is Misurina. She will recognize it when she sees it on Ravelry. Mine was a natural gray linen color main color with robin's egg blue colorwork.

I have progressives with changes for astigmatism. I took them to my eye doctor who said it was as perfect as could ever be expected. He said that in his practice he's had several people use them - and they have only had an issue with one pair not having the correct prescription (the one pair he found was bifocal not progressives).

The Zigzag zen blanket looks so good, its probably going to be a pleasure to test knit

I wish I had been a knitter when I was in Scotland, would have brought myself back some yarn in a heartbeat haha.

Enjoyed hanging out with you and hearing about your trip to Argentina while knitting on socks. Kate Davies has a book The West Highland Way which has knitting patterns and beautiful pictures of the highland way. I brought that along with me when we hiked as it had some history in it. I think I might have a second copy if you’d like one.💙

I don’t quite follow. I mean it sounded like you went back to your regular doctor when it was time for a new eye exam. So it would stand to reason that your vision may have changed since you originally got the glasses. So what was his actual reason for the suggestion? If pair eyewear has trained professionals just as his office does, what is the difference?

The weekender yarn is a wonderful colour I think you will be happier with less ease. I have done a few walking holidays and last year for the Portuguese Camino I rolled one tee, socks and walking trousers for each day for nights I bring one skirt one pair of trousers two cardigans and three or four tops. As I need walking boots and walking shoes I brings a very versatile pair of sandals for all other times The other things are in my day sack solely related to walking a fleece waterproofs and foldable poles . I’m doing another Camino route this year and will use the same system as it works well

I am so sorry about the weekender! If you don't like the fit now, you probably won't later. Maybe sit down with a good movie or show, or even ask one of your kids to rip it out for you? I know too late for the Helen project, but, one trick I use to help decide on colors is to take the photo in greyscale. If the colors look super similar in the photo they will probably muddle in the project.

Your Weekender yarn is divine!! But it looks like you could fit two of you in it! If you have doubts now, it's not going to get better with time. If it were me, I'd rip it out and restart. Oversize is good but too big is not good. Good luck!

I’m glad that Bently enjoyed his treats. Ivy the kitty rather likes the vets as they make a fuss of her . Thankfully she only needs her annual health check and booster jab. She isn’t a great fan of the car though. The fabric looks lovely. It’s been very cold for us. It was my birthday last week and I recorded the last temperature for my blanket. It started with lots of blue and will end with it too I guess that’s expected when you are born in the winter Although I don’t knit in church I’ve started knitting while I listen to the bible in a year app as it really help keep my mind from going off at a tangent. Hope all the prep for retreats and shows goes well for you

Love the chain! Great advent project and I think it as a garland rather than something to wear around my neck. Cold here but it went above freezing briefly today for first time since Sunday. More snow coming tomorrow morning and bitter cold this weekend. I keep 2 sink faucets dripping and our cars are pulled up as close to the house/garage door as possible to shelter the engines. And all the cats (3) want to do is be in my lap which is difficult because they don’t like each other! So they take turns at least.

Have fun at your retreat! I treasure the friendships that I’ve made at retreats. That’s how we met! Tamara and I had to find a new retreat to go to now that Leading Men Fiber Arts announced that theirs will not continue. We are signed up to go to the Knit Along Club retreat at Pine Mountain Resort here in Kentucky in March. Looking forward to it.

A knitting retreat at this time of year sounds like a very good way to get thru the Winter. 😌 Your project looks fun, too. What a great legacy to remember and then to make your own, too. I am working on WiPs and using purple-ish yarns in stash, atm. I am reading a book by Catherine Marshall called Julie and learning about the Johnstown disaster with a dam collapse. I don't read as much as I used to, but, here we are in a new year, deep Winter, and time to do some things differently. 💖

I love the colours of your project. It would also make a nice base for a garland or decoration to add things to Enjoy your retreat. I go to the layfamily yarn retreat each year and it’s a wonderful relaxing time. I always come away feeling refreshed
