The best of the best❤️
RIMB xd
Still up there with Eve, Forest Through the Trees, and FlashDANCE as one of my favorite shows y’all have done. The M83 intro is just perfect, mixing the Elgar and the Whitacre, and the closer… fantastic show design.
This is by far as close to perfect a high school band can possibly get! Amazing job!!
to anyone in this era of ctj, i hope you're doing well :) last year we did a revamp of this show when i was a freshman and i think its so cool watching this and seeing the people before me do this
I marched in this show (CTJ Alumni 2008-2012), and I can say for certain, this is my favorite show I marched in! The amount of work we put in for all the lines to be perfect was crazy, but the end result makes me happy that our awesome band directors pushed us to be the best we could be. I'm glad you enjoyed our performance all these years later!
11 years on and I still get the warm fuzzies during the ballad. And the beginning of Driven is one of the best magical musical moments in band (fight me). Actually, Driven as a whole is just *chefs kiss* perfect.
bombsquad ;)
woah that trumpet brass like zoom part. was so mesmerizing i go to judson btw in marching band. too
What is that opener??
Like what is that opener music piece
@@aidanguyett644 "Fly to Paradise" by Eric Whitacre. It's from his Virtual Choir 4.0 arrangement, reframed from an aria he wrote called "Bliss" originally written for an electronic opera that he wrote in the mid-2000s called "Paradise Lost: Shadows and Wings"
They used Equus by Eric Whitacre in the 1stish part of the show with the trombones' glissandi.
omg a modern marching band that actually just marches and plays... what a lovely change from bands who are drenching in theatrics instead just being what youre called ...
Great vid
Wait a minute. Am I seeing stuff wrong or are they like 3 times smaller than what they are now?
What a great band and a great march!
Could y’all upload 2017 Championships Run?
Yess, favorite high school show ever!! Congrats tonight on winning it all again!
What happened to claudia? Heard about them not attending Area finals last year?
really love that pictures at an exhibition intro ;)
lmfao I have no idea why I was surprised that they played chameleon
I marched for Steele this year. It was my sophomore year. I loved this show and Bowie's.
WOW!
Those petal notes in the trombone feature were freakin beast, even a year later it still amazes me
by far one of the best opening statements ever. such musicianship
it must feel good to take those uniforms off after rehearsal
Yep
you have no idea
This song is so fun to play! Great performance!
Why did you guys make most of your recent videos private?
BOA made a copyright claim on a video that was captured after a finals award ceremony at an event in 2014. It was easier to just remove all shows because once three claims have been made, whether valid or not, the entire you tube site gets shut down. Shows are still available for band members but they are only available through private links.
Ah shoot, Chameleon was a favorite of mine.
Those all-state horn players are in college. Grow up and get a life.
What song is the pre show based off on? I love it!
+Alexis Flores Actually it's Midnight City
The first song is Intro, then Midnight City.
The Gamma Paradigm actually it's intro... followed by like 5 seconds of midnight city
M83 is a great band
Someone posted about "chords on the hornline being played before the hornline had their instruments to their mouths". What this person failed to see were the two horns on the field prop that introduced that segment. The remaining hornline came in a few measures later. These videos were recorded in HD and are best viewed in large screens and not mobile phones.
+Johnson Band Videos Aug 2010 - Nov 2014 You expect us all to believe two, unmiced (there are no microphones on the prop as apparent by the closeup of the trombone feature at the beginning of the video), backward facing french horns in the middle of the field can put out sound equal to that of a horn septet on the front sideline?!?? Then when the septet does come in, there is no more sound added?!?!
+Awesomenes37 This is why you do not make assumptions about another band's show when you are not a part of their organization. The two french horn players are both miced wirelessly, and are both all-state level players. They're perfectly able to reciprocate the volume and energy of the septet, but as I stated before, were miced for their duet.
+Awesomenes37 Johnson uses wireless microphones. Both of the French horn players had wireless microphones, both went to area competition for three years, one made all-state, and the other was a runner up for two years. You obviously have some sort of obsession with this program. Auditions are next May should you think you have the chops to be part of this program. Good luck.
+Awesomenes37 also the two French horns do turn around and face the judges before they play. Sound is also added when the septet comes in. As I mentioned earlier these videos are meant for large screens not mobile devices.
+Johnson Band Videos Aug 2010 - Nov 2014 I see. As a freshman hotshot of a horn player, I am eager to see how I stand against your st8rs.
I love the opening statement! Trombones are hard to march but y'all manage it!
what is the name of that closer??
Allison Williams well I'm only 11 months late...but symphonic metamorphosis by paul hindemith. Movement 2.
The fact we have that prop now. and its the worlds most complicated prob ever. go SHS band.
This is incredible. Everyone who was a part of this (students, parents, directors, designers, alumni) should be extremely proud. What amazing moments this activity can produce.
I remember watching this last year, my 8th grade year, thinking "I'm never doing this" one year later, here I am, playing White Rabbit and FREAKING LOVING IT
8:13 😱
We are playing Polovstian Dances and Paradise Lost in my band this year. The Colony HS, btw.
Aye I go to The Colony HS
MeTheDwarf my school Belton High School played Polovtsian Dances for our marching show this year, it was called "Goddess"
you can hear all the pride in their sound, it gives me chills every time. I love my school 💙
I AM SO READY FOR THIS IT'S GOING TO BE EPIC!!!!!!! +Jarret Lipman
I AM SO READY FOR THIS +
Does this apply to current band members :D
Light years beyond even what most university groups can do with this work. Bravo!
When are you guys coming back to BOA Grand Nationals??? (Sincerely, an '09 Marian Catholic Band Alumni)
+Reagan Bach you dont know
This year! :)
The design, the music, the attention to detail... one of the most top-notch groups in the world. Congrats to the students and teachers.
Did they do the Fly to Paradise preshow during prelims? I don't remember hearing it. Either way, this is an absolutely sick show.
No we did not because of the time limit in prelims, causing not enough time to fit it in
I love watching the trombone section I wish my school would have done something cool like that
Why doesn't their percussion ever compete in any drumline contests? Those were pretty impressive beats
I am so proud to be a part of this band
Who got 1st place?
I think Marcus High School and this band got 3rd but deserved 1st... in my opinion/:
GAM3RB0Y1 Yeah, but to be honest, this is U.I.L. scoring, which is mostly based on Music, Marching, and GE. Marcus did do better in music, marching was a mix, and C.T.J. got killed by going on 3rd, by being 7th. In BOA, they no doubt would do better. Plus, they had COLLEGE directors judging. Absolutely the worst thing that could have ever happened. If you look at the scores, one judge gave them like 20th or something, and another gave them 1st.
monstercat6 uil takes no General effect into account or difficulty of the show, only how clean it is. In that respect no one was going to beat Marcus
nathan snyder GE is one of the scoring categories. At least I strongly believe it is.
It is not at uil, the two categories are music and marching that's it
This band is amazing, it seriously made me cry. I would've given anything to be apart of that band!!
Sickest brass in the beginning completely blown away!
