A Quirky Indie Gem: Temple of Shadows Review
Lately I've been playing this quirky little indie Puzzler/Horror game called Temple of Shadows. It has it's ups and downs, but all in all it's a pretty good time, especially for someone like me. its not overly complicated and it provides some good atmosphere along with with good amount of campiness.

Being a gamer as a kid VS as an adult

lately I've been thinking a lot about how different it feels being a gamer as an adult compared to when I was young, and part of that is probably from watching my own children grow and seeing what type of games they gravitate towards, so i just wanted to share some of my experiences growing up as a gamer, like how my tastes have changed, or the way i socialise within games, and hopefully I'll g...

So today I figured I'd go over some horror games I feel are a bit more unique and hopefully show...
7 Games With Wasted Potential (And Why)

In todays video we will go over some games I personally think suffer from wasted potential and possibly should have been better, those games that had amazing ideas, like the story, gameplay mechanics or aesthetic, but couldn't make it pay off. although I want to be clear, I don't think most of these video games are bad, and a few like We Happy Few were games I was extremely excited for leading ...

5 Video game sequels that couldn't live up to the original
If u ever feel like it give some of the adventure games from the 90's a spin. It was a golden era for some classics like monkey island, full throttle, discworld etc. Quite a few of them can still be found and played. Regardless great review, there are some indie gold nuggets out there.
I love monkey Island and discworld! I have the hole series of books, and Eric Idle was the perfect voice actor for rincewind! Need to try out full throttle though, I have played Harvester since you recommended it though, working on a video for that wild ride of a game 😅
@@Dowds-VG sound interesting any vague clue you can offer as a teaser 😁
Heyyyy this could have been an indiana jones game. Bit of spit and polish to give it a shine.
devs comes and go over the years so a company name doesn't represent quality or the past products.
I'd have to slightly disagree, a company name is what represents that team and what influences the public into buying certain games. From Soft for example, whether it was bloodborne, sekiro or elden ring, alot of people bought it because of the quality and popularity of the dark souls games, and quite fairly expected a similar experience, which is exactly what those games delivered even though not all the same developers would have worked on each game, because that is the standard that company has set for their games, and what their fans expect.
As an experienced stalker, I'm glad I could finally play stalker 2. I pre ordered the super ultra turbo edition but wasn't able to play it because of my old graphics card. Good thing my new one came in recently!
Definitely been a long wait!! The metro series was a good substitute though
11. if it is bugged wait for a update
Smashing is easier with the knife
Chornobyl
Woops, my bad! 😅
This game has a broken money glitch, also minor tip (not sure if its a bug or not) if you are at a vendor AND have a stack of at least 2 or more of the same gun condition, aka 2akms at 100% you can sell them, then take them back and get returned ammo for free of that gun type.
Definetly the time available to game has changed as u said😂 as a kid in the 80's - early 90's one had to figure out how to make the potato pc to run the game. Want to cheat , learn to hex edit 🤓 every game felt amazing and unique. As an adult the game needs to have real immersion that makes you want to spend what little time one has.
Couldn't agree more!! PC gaming was a form of black magic back in those days 🤣
Really need to give stalker 2 a try. Just need to find the time 😂 maybe christmas holidays🎉
Wooooot theres stalker 2 out. Original stalker was a blast.
Resident 3 Remake - The OG was great the remake of Resident Evil 2 was great but the Remake of Resi 3 was terrible - they cut cool stuff and lore from the OG. Wish they didnt rushed this game and took more time to make it
I sent this video to my friend. The FIRST thing he said was that the music in the intro was used in an... "animation"
*I waited 10 years for Cyberpunk and it was not at all what it was described as 👎 not a bad game but it was supposed to be ALOT MORE* 🌈
I 100% agree, it's a great game, especially with the phantom liberty dlc, but it's not the world changing RPG they promised originally
*I'm super content with Rockstar and EA being the only remaining independent AAA developers by 2027* 😂👌
*the feeling is the same if the game is actually good and immersive for 100 hours🌈 Fallout 4, MGS5, Control, Lost Judgment, AC Odyssey, Far Cry 5 all gave me that feeling 👌 the older I get though, the more I want smaller games with more depth.*
I definitely still get that feeling with games like fallout, elder scrolls and similar games. Part of its probably because of how long those franchises have been around so along with experiencing these new exciting games with new features and stuff, you also get that hit of nostalgia for a series you've loved for so long!!
I'm 44. Been gaming for 39 years. I've played and enjoyed every genre for my whole life. Gaming to me is the greatest art form we have. My biggest issue now is time. At this point in my life I look forward to the next 20 yrs to see where gaming will go. I still feel the magic in video games. I still get super excited to start a new game. Gaming for me has never changed. ❤❤
Who is bro looking at?
Depends which eye you're focusing on
Love your reply! I absolutely agree that gaming is the greatest art form! As much depth as a book, as visually stimulating as a film, all the emotion of a song, and a form of interactivity that nothing else can compete with
your appetite for gaming gets bad, skills gets worse, tolerance & patience at an all time low, the pickiness to the roof , the list of genres you'd play shrinks to 1 or 2, you become too zoomed out to enjoy (& see video games for what they truly are ,as if you developed them yourself)
I agree with some of the things you listed I wanted to add something Abundance The sheer saturation of the market and number of games put out creates a negative effect on gaming as a whole for me,games feel more like a product than a story or an experience I also want to add social media As it often distracts our attention and memory to something that is more stimulating and instant dopamine hitting than experiencing a story, something I'm trying to get off from at the moment as well Good video I liked it a lot I'm subbing even though I found this by chance
I really like your points! Definitely agree that things like social media have killed our attention spans, probably why things like fortnite and apex have so much popularity since its fast paced and your concstantly aim for that dopamine rush. And it's funny, I agree with what your saying about abundance, games seem to be alot more paint by numbers now, all using the same concepts, gameplay, control schemes, etc. But the ps1 and 2 have over 10,000 games between them, but there was alot more experimentation and companies weren't as scared of share holders and looking for almost impossible profit margins, so although there was ALOT of games, there actually some diversity in the experiences they were offering. I'm really glad you found and enjoyed the video! And happy to have you as a sub! Hopefully you enjoy my future content and i look forward to any comments you might make in the future!
@Dowds-VG I agree on what you said that is very very true unfortunately, but all is not so grim I've been trying out elin at the moment it feels so good and fresh also games like else Ring still manage to capture my pure curiosity
I feel this. I'm never fully invested in a game anymore. There's always the list of responsibilities hovering in the back of my head.
Nice video
I agree on that. Ive come to a point in my workplace that takes most of my time. And on that CoD section. I feel like before CoD lobbies and gamijg online actually had people interacting. In my taste. I used to love shooters. Nowadays im more into rpgs and turn based rts.
Finding free time as an adult sucks! 😅 I'm very similar to you. I loved shooters back in the day, but I'm way more likely to sit with an rpg now. I feel like most most shooters have become way too competitive to just enjoy on a casual level, and I'd have to agree on people interacting, I remember for modern warfare 1 or battlefield 3 lobbies would be full of people talking, now it's mostly dead air
*you can definitely feel that 3rd act missing from MGS5 🕵 preferably a Russia map....but at least we get to play as Quiet* 😍
Correct. Potential even of tripple A titles. For example The Nemesis System from Shadow of mordor. Windbound was nice, we happy few too. But all games are nive anyways
Never understood why We Happy Few had procedural generation. Such an unnecessary addition and didn't work with the handcrafted story
Completely agree! Its crazy how drastically improved the game would be if it wasn't procedurally generated
in all honesty, with how much of procedural generation being this marketing term or rather something trendy I see somehow, given it's a feature used and abused without any thought or care to it, it feels like it just reminds me of ai generation of "art" for some reason. That's how I can really sum up my thought with that. Like why the need for that esp story heavy on this? I have no idea, maybe it shouldn't of been needed anyway
DDLC is not horror game at all lol dude it's an old game
How does being old make it not a horror? 🤔
Lol I mean it's not horror like the others game that what My opinion. @Dowds-VG
I mean fair enough if you didn't find it scary or you didn't enjoy it, definitely don't expect anyone to like every game on the list, but it definitely fits the description of "horror" with its subject matter and themes
it’s psychological horror though… do you not know what psychological horror is? it’s a sub-genre of horror so it’s horror
have you had the opportunity to test out harvester. Not quite sure if its a horror game but it is quite unique
I have it downloaded, definitely gonna try it! It looks very unique 🤣
re-upload? I'll watch it again if it helps. Horror is not my genre really.
Thank you! I noticed a couple editing errors I really needed to fix 😅
Dragons dogma 2
How do you figure redfall had wasted potential? The devs didn’t want to make it and it was intended from the beginning to be live service… it had zero potential to begin with
Because the concept of redfall isn't bad, and given what arkane have developed in the past we know they're capable of releasing something that could have been alot better. Also just because something is live service, I don't think that necessarily means it has to be bad, they're just usually aimed to appeal to as wide an audience as possible rather than a core dedicated fan base
MGSV is the biggest missed opportunity to expand on the lore of the series. For me personally it was quite a shock to find this game so empty in terms of a story. And because of that it felt as a chore to complete it despite a decent gameplay.
I feel exactly the same as you, it could have filled so many plotholes the series had and expand on questions about big bosses lore and outer haven, but sadly it seems to of just left us with more questions and even fewer answers
I hated the mission layouts, especially the introduction of missions, should've been more linear
Very nice video and presentation
Thank you very much! This was my first video, so I'd like to think I've improved since, but I'm still very pleased with the outcome 😅
Big YT algorithm W? I sure hope/think so ;)
I hope i prove you right!! :D
P.T... 💔
Return of the King on GameCube was legendary.
I followed We Happy Few for awhile and loved how it looked like this strange amalgamation of Bioshock and No One Lives Forever…and was so disappointed in the final product. It just tried to be too many things at once and I found it too slow and rather boring.
Very few games have been as intense and scary as Dying Light 1 when you're stuck outside at night. When I would finally get to safety, I would actually physically feel a weight lifted off my shoulders. Only a handful of games have ever done that; Looking at you, Alan Wake 1&2
Pokemon no? Biggest franchise on earth and compared to the best games we have, it's frankly pathetic the games they come up with
I did consider pokemon to be honest, maybe in a follow up 🤔 I've always tried to keep up with the pokemon releases as I've always been a fan, but considering what we know those games could be capable of, they're only putting in like 10% effort, most enjoyable one in recent years in my opinion has been Arceus, and even that had its issues
To be fair I quite loved Vampyr. Yes is a bit clunky, but the story is good and the side quests can be very interesting. Plus the music is amazing
I can definitely understand why you oved it! It would be dishonest of me to say vampyr is a bad game, sadly it just didn't hit that spot for me, but i love dontnod as a developer and I feel they always have alot of heart go into their projects, even if it doesn't always live up to their vision
Recurring pattern here is mismanagement and lack of cohesive vision.
100% right, mismanagement and a lack of vision can absolutely kill a game before it ever even releases
Bad managers are ruining society in general 😅
@640. yeah taking pills to forget your mundane life is a horrible idea.... Street drugs are way cheaper. lo DONT DO DRUGS ITS A JOKE
100% the street stuff isn't affected by inflation! 🤣
3 words: Ghost Recon Wildlands. The premise and open world idea for a military war game is my favorite of any of the genre. Not saying the game is that bad or anything but it could have been revolutionary for single player military shooters. But it turned out to be a flawed repetitive game. They didnt handle the story line correctly. It felt like every mission was a side mission with no main plot. Instead of cinematic cur scenes we only get audio files and the same missions over and over. The plot actually isnt even bad, its they way they executed the strategy on how to complete the plot. If they could have been more focused on the main story and not have so many repeating mission objectives it would have been fantastic. I still enjoyed it but it could have been so much better. I wish they would complete a remake for it and do the story better this time. Especially if they include a first person online mulitplayer mode. Imagine how fun it would be to play online with such a massive map.
Wildlands is my guilty pleasure. I play it now and then, always returning to it. There is nothing quite like it out there, no other game that allows you the freedom to approach your mission as it does. The main issue is that most missions barely utilize this freedom and are just glorified fetch or sabotage quests... And the weird thing: It almost tries to say something about CIA interventionism. It makes the MCs seem like insane unhinged operatives who are dishing out that "American democracy whether the locals like it or not". But it... just doesn't go anywhere. It's just a flavour on top of it.
Exactly. The mission structure is too repetitive. Freedom is great but there's only a few types of side quests that are all pretty similar and then the main missions which cut scenes take place pretty much inside that hut. There are only 3 or 4 missions that stood out and I remember. One had to do with an enemy camp in a large canyon, and one where you find a bunch of bodies being used to smuggle drugs (If I remember correctly) another was a fun mission at a casino and then the last mission was the ending. The ending where the writers were sort of pointing fingers at Americans for being there and intervening like you were talking about. I just found out they came out with a game after this called Breakpoint with an open world but the premise is a little goofy. I'd love for them to redo this one or make Wildlands 2. They can keep the same map with minor upgrades and deal with the fallout of El Sueno being gone and rise of new cartels fight to the top. That map is waaay too beautiful and ubi didn't do it enough justice.
Biomutant wasnt that great but the combat was very fun and i liked going around the world, if they improve on the story and maybe make it less repetitive a sequel could definetly be great
Okay, that crouching was intense.
As someane who was following We happy we from the start. I really felt a huge disappointment when I tried the game myself. It was just lame, boring and couldn't play for more than 50 minutes. It was just a shame. Thank God that I thought that Atómic heart was going to be the same thing but it wasn't.
Right, because it even worse 🤡
@@БогданКрименюк Dude no one is going to take you seriously with that name and pfp.
You and me both on the disappointment for we happy few! It was such a cool concept! I haven't tried atomic heart yet though, think it might be time I gave it a try!
We happy few gave me such bioshock vibes just not as good sadly. But the world and story are super interesting and worth a playthrough if you're a fan of bioshock.
Compulsion is made of former Ken Levine team members
Man, this was an entire list of "Games I played, thought I should go back to, but never did, and drifted away from because: ehhhh" solid list
I'm glad you enjoyed it! And I'm glad you found it relatable 😅
I really like that algorithm these days occasionally leads to small channels like this. Good job!
Thank you!! Really glad you enjoyed the video!!
I just wish that the algorithm would not lock your recommendations on what you watch. It's such a sad time we are in, huh? :(
Alpha Protocol. Man, I was digging that game pretty hardcore. I specced full stealth assassin ninja killer ... which was GREAT ... until the very first effing boss fight in a disco, and suddenly the game is all AND YOU HAVE TO MACHINE GUN ME ASSAULT MAN! My build just couldn't approach the scene AT ALL. So ... that was that. Couldn't get past it. Game done.
I know exactly how you feel. I was so ready to love alpha protocol in the beginning! Rpgs need more interesting settings like the whole spy theme
@@Dowds-VG WOULD LOVE for a follow-up in the same sort of setting, agreed 100%
