Lt. Cmdr Data overrules the Captain
Correlation does not mean causation, thank goodness Data is not a statistician.
Poor dude knows he's going to spend the rest of his life on Rura Penthe and endure an ignominious death in his bed of old age.
There was a ship named after Viggo Mortensen?
Nobody notices that that phaser blasted a hole in the ceiling.
So, Data discovered a correlation. But no proof of causation. Data acted on a guess?
Alternative title: Worf still sucks at his job.
The Leah Brahms incident really bit Geordi in the ass, being turned into an alien and now this.
Drop the shields.... D-D-D-Drop the shields... /technobeat
"Would you like to finish it Captain?" "I don't know how." "That *is* true sir."
Such a fantastic show TNG is epic, I have the restored and remastered Blu ray collection and it looks even better then it ever did in the broadcast
I think this is one of the scenes that is a stark reminder: Worf is NOT stupid. True, he tends to default to problem solving via violence, but he's not stupid and as both head of security and tactical officer, violence is his job description. Worf knows that by now, Data does nothing without reason or logic. So he must have a reason for ordering LaForge arrested. Look around, LaForge spotted . . . and that slow walk is not normal LaForge behavior. Therefore, arrest LaForge and let Picard sort it out. His mistake was not going around the gathering instead of through it.
"Computer, lock onto Geordi's comm badge, and transport him to the brig".. could have avoided the entire scene in the cargo bay
It seems the Enterprise has a lot of system failures compared to starships of other governments or empires? IMHO!!
why didn't the phaser beam go through the ceiling ? imagine being in your quarters , minding your own business & phaser beam cuts through the floor right through you
For Sisko, that price is saving lives, and making sure the Dominion doesn't conquer them.
Worf: "Impact in 15 seconds!" Data: "Sir, drop the shields" Riker: "That's suicode, Data!" Data: "Sorry -- Sir, drop the BASS" Picard: "Make it so." . . . BRRR-WUMWUMWUMWUMWUMBA BA BA BA BRRRRR
Thank you, Mr. Data for saving our asses again!
It's a great scene, as I look back on these episodes, that I know so very well, I can't help but chuckle now. I mean, of course there was a correlation between the intensity of the impacts and shield strength! But it's the whole scene that steals show, time and time again. Patrick Stewart really was a perfect choice for this cast.
........ yeah that guy dead.
The Governor afterwards: "Why did I trust Data and Picard over my own ambassador? Well, Data and Picard always spoke Klingon to me whenever we were among Klingons, without the use of a universal translator. The ambassador on the other hand always spoke with a universal translator, whenever he didn't he spoke with a thick Vulcan-like accent that I don't understand."
“Data saves the day”…might as well be the theme for TNG
I honestly think we could make Starfleet a reality as a species in the next 150 years if we all had the professionalism of the enterprise crew
I’m sure he was given a light rap on his knuckles and forced to sit in the corner for an hour. Klingon justice served up cold as ice.
He should have negociated the bride 3 bars would ahve suffice
How did this episode get to be over 30 years ago? I remember watching it air like it was yesterday.
you did watch it yesterday on a retro tv channel or something. 😛
The look on the ambassadors face….i am so dead….
How about you say a simple "Thank you" to Data?
1:02 Worf is thinking "Dammit, 'It's A Good Day To Die' is just an expression!"
Sisko is every solicitation email/callI get as a Manager where they are offering gift cards and such to meet with them. I so badly want to respond with this Quark line
People who believe correlation implies causation always wind up dead.
Data should be rhe captain
Technically, he fired directly where he was aiming before Picard grabbed him
data goes into sherlock holmes mode here
“I am designed to exceed human capacity, both mentally and physically”
As usual, closed captions are denied to the deaf…
After this video the Ambassador was sentenced to death by the Klingon High Command for being a Traitor
I like how the Klingons looks straight at their ambassador when given the 2 people. It is like they had a suspicion about him all the time.
Leave Jordi alone he's watching parn.
I just looked it up 85 liters is almost 22.45 gallons of that gel 👀
I find this impossible to believe I watched it four times in a row expecting more
I love this episode
Picard always gives me the chills... A logical, experienced and fair leader.
The admiral: I'm an iPhone user. I want that Android out of here
Exactly!!
I suspect Klingon search techniques are quite thorough and......Invasive
Data used the contraction “I’ve!”
Dude is going to be tortured!
The last appearance of the Type 1 phaser.
I like how Data says the term brainwashing is somewhat inaccurate. I grew up in a pseudochristian cult that people accuse of brainwashing but actually brainwashing doesn't work, while this cult used to gain members by the hundreds of thousands every year. However these days they're losing hundreds of thousands every year.
The level of personal credibility Data had built up over the years being showcased is always great. Worf knows Geordie and despite being a by the book officer has a moment of needing more but as soon as Data makes it an order he's all in. If Data says it's so, it must be so.
So cute.
