Vayne is interesting because he's a villain doing the _wrong_ things for the _right_ reasons. He wants to purge the influence of the Occuria so that mortals can write their own destinies, but in doing so he allowed himself to become a brutal autocrat, ultimately becoming like the Occuria by abrogating Rabanastre's independence.

Am I the only one that felt like XIV wanted to do the same with Fordola in Stormblood as XII did here with Gabranth but with less than half the charm and attention?

I absolutely despise Vayne. He is so evil and so similar in so many ways to real life despots. The writers did their job well.

God it's such a delight to just listen to Vayne. A wonderful combination of great performance, great direction and one hell of a localized script.

Gabranth is my favorite NPC in all of FF, he almost makes my top 5 period, but not playable in XII. I've embraced the name "Judge" in FFXIV for the last 7 years.

Imagine if Gabranth had been the main character.

I kinda feel bad for Judge Drace. She was the most "good" of them all, but she didn't understand her political disadvantage before making an attempt at Vayne. Zargabaath & Gabranth probably would've aided her if the timing was more appropriate. It is a really good scene showing that doing the right/honorable thing isn't always the smartest thing.

So much pity that Square Enix has messed up this game by questioning Matsuno and forced him to change the story, it would have been the best game ever made otherwise.
