Mike Bristol (Mikey Builds)
Приєднався 22 гру 2013
My girlfriend Jamee and I are restoring a 1960 Cessna 150 that we found covered in dust sitting in a hangar in Fairbanks Alaska. We both come from a background in back country and off airport flying (mainly seaplane) and have worked all across the state but we call Juneau home. She is currently an air ambulance pilot flying Lear jets and I’m flying fires doing air attack but we both still work part time on the water. This is just a fun project we picked up, we don’t intend to sell it and its not for building time in, its just something that we both love doing and its fun. I’m trying to document as much of the build as I can but it is in no way intended as a how to, more just entertainment if you’re in to watching that sort of thing.
WINGS AIRWAYS : OTTERS DOCKING IN JUNEAU
The Wings Airways fleet docking and departing from the downtown harbor in Juneau Alaska. Wings Airways operates a fleet of five classic DeHavilland Otters (DHC-3) on sight seeing and Taku Lodge trips daily during the summer months.

CESSNA 150 PROJECT EPISODE 3 : PAINT STRIPPING AND PRIMING
Переглядів 25 тис.4 роки тому
In this episode we finish patterning the boot cowl for the left side, patch a big hole and a previous poor repair job on the fuselage, paint strip the fuselage and wings and begin priming the inside of the fuselage. Apologies for the long gaps between episodes, we wish we could get them out quicker. Being first responders the pandemic didn’t give us any extra time to work on the plane. She was ...
CESSNA 150 PROJECT EPISODE 2 : CABLES, PULLEYS AND BOOT COWL
Переглядів 31 тис.5 років тому
Finally got around to making Episode 2. Work on this old Cessna 150 is coming along nicely although a little slow with all the other demands of life. But we are continuing to move forward. We replaced all the control cables, removed the instrument panel, removed the engine and started to pattern new boot cowls. Thanks for watching!
CESSNA 150 PROJECT EPISODE 1: HORIZONTAL STABILIZER REBUILD

We bought a damaged Cessna 150 tailwheel and are restoring it from the ground up
I would never trust that girl doing work on my plane.......... women dont understand the technical aspect of things....They never have and they never will
QUE PINCHE MUSICA Y VOLUMEN EXAGERADO A LA BERGUE
Did you guys split? Who got little bird? Is it done?
I love watching this and shake my head at how many hours of work that goes into it. It would be great to see the finished plane.
Periodically the bar for human ability inevitably is raised. I would hypothesize the ingenuity you’ve shown on this project is exhibit A of that theory.
Hurry up and finish that thing already!
I’m restoring a 150e in Lancaster texas! KLNC. I watch avidly. I want mine to be as good as new also. I’m not A&P but learning. Thanks, Baron
Any more updates on the airplane?
WHAT ??? No more videos??
What happened to the rest of the build this looks good
Any updates? Appreciate the attention to detail and doing things correctly!
Y'all made the leading edge from scratch using sheet aluminum. How in the world did y'all get the contour correct?
New subscribed from Somalia 🇸🇴
Any news on the project?
LOVE IT!!!!
Something you might give a lot of thought to. Years ago I converted a C-150 to a tail dragger to experimental for research and development. I did my homework for the main landing gear and I was able to acquire the gear legs from a C-140. They give the 150 a much better stance and most importantly MORE propeller clearance when taking off and landing, this saves propellers and engines. The 140 gear legs bolt right into the same gear blocks as the 150 gear legs and the blocks will bolt in the same location as it is on the 140. The bulkheads are already prepunched for the blocks in the 150. Also the tail wheel assembly came from a 140 also. makes it easier to attach the tail wheel. This was done in the middle 1980's while I was working on airplanes and also teaching people to fly I have my Airline Transport Pilot Licenses, Certified flight instructor Rating airplanes instrument and multi engine instructor, Airframe and Power Plant Mechanic Licenses. Would like to hear your thoughts
Where is the video where its now flying?
Great video. I have a C-150L project to do soon. Enjoy your videos very much, hoping #4 is coming soon
Acompanhando aqui de longe esse maravilhoso projeto de vcs. Forte abraço! Itamar. Brasil
This was enjoyable to watch. Why did you stop the videos?
Any video project updates? are we all done and flying?
Magnificent
I bought a 58 172 straight tail last year and am just now getting around to starting on it. Watching this vid is both inspiring and tiring at the same time. ;)
Some music SUCKS BAD
Hey, we also have a "45T" Cessna! Ours is a '59 172. Really enjoying the videos.
My cousins straight tail 150 needs to have the rear spar in the vertical tail replaced. You guys know a good place to get those parts?
How's the 150 coming?
Hello good job. Please, can you confirm name of product for remove the paint , please.?
If your doing all that you find a low time airframe. That was stored in doors. There are plenty of aircraft out there. You can’t erase time
Great video. Were you allowed to fabricate the leading edge and front ribs and sign them off on your own, or did you have to have an IA sign them off. I was under the understanding that you had to buy them if they were available and I guess I was wrong. I hear they allow people in Alaska to do more on their aircraft as a&p's then in the other states due to the lack of IA's. Is that correct? Thanks again for the video.
Mike, Any updates? Would love to see how it is coming along.
i want to work with you guys!
So this 150 is a factory tail dragger?
Great work. Would love to see an update!
Nothing more satisfying than to have to stop and peel all the rivet heads off your drill bit and then the sound when the rivet tail pops out of hole.
music sucks
Enjoyed the process and style of video. Looking forward to next installment.
Any updates on this project? Would love to see the progress on the restoration.
A bit of an abrupt ending, after watching the first and second - assumed I’d jump right in to #4… oops! Great work so far, looking forward to the next 👍
I was glad to see you using the Hobby Air mask and the HVLP system. I've built 20 experimental's and rebuilt many factory birds and can tell you that the Hobby Air full mask and the HVLP were indispensable in every project. Most of my work was with PolyFiber, some Stewart system too and a few full metals birds as well. The C150 you are restoring looks great ... are you planning to overhaul the engine or just fly it up as is? Looking forward to the next video ...
Great video ... ton of work eh? Looks like you're doing a fine job of it.
Great video, do you still have the C150?? Are you based in ANC yet? Thanks for posting.
Which metal is used to make the aircraft's fuselage, wings and cover of the engine part?
Aluminum
I’ve always wanted to be an A&P
Go for it .... good money in the field and always an adventure ...
Very impressive work , Thanks
Can’t wait to see this when y’all get done
Great video of a LOT of great work. Thanks!
Hello , does paint stripping affect the metal on which it is used ? Could it cause fatigue ar any weakening ? Thank you .
Wow! Y’all get so much work done in one video my eyes are sore just from watching! 🤣😎🙌🏻
Do you have a link for that tool to locate holes in the new skin? I could really use that!
Lookup Aircraft Tool Supply and search “strap duplicator” for the size hole you want to find/drill. They have a ton of different applications and a super cool tool.
@@mikebristol6466 excellent, thank you!
@@Ts-zy4bw those things are a life saver sometimes. get a short one and a long one for the size you need.
