Bridgerton soundtracks for epic masquerade scenes! Make the songs match the specific part of the masquerade. Edgy songs for hostile fellow guests and fancy songs for when the king is present etc. plus killbill soundtracks for when the fighting breaks out.
Nice job.
Im actually looking forward to playing it as is. Making it "easier" for the players isn't something that i believe is needed.
Still watining for the carne of the winter king video
What program did you make your dungeon in? I love that style
Just looked in the description. Thanks man
2024 and there are still people learning from your ideas (me)! Thanks a lot mate! I'm trying to expand on the ideas specially about the town. In my table, the people from Oakhurst know the fruit is evil, they have been getting their supply for a while now, enough time for some curious mind to suspect something, and eventually investigate the magic behind the fruit. As Gulthias was a vampire, it's not far fetched to find necromantic magic inside the fruits after a good analysis. The people from Oakhurst, however, chose not to stop selling as it has become the biggest attraction for the town, bringing some tourism and interested investors, after all how many backwards villages have wonder fruits? The economy, before primarily plant based, has now grown due to the fruits, and the townfolk is hard to go back to the old ways. So, for my players, there are basically 2 ways to finish the quest: - they destroy the tree, its fruits are now gone as it will be their offspring in a day or so. However you have just awakened a dark force (Gulthias) and the people from Oakhurst hate your guts, even threatening to complain to the elite of Neverwinter (you can use it as a hook); - they do not destroy the tree. The villagers thank them and show their true colors (i'm not gonna tell my players the villagers know anything, they are gonna play dumb). They say they are going to start a bigger exploration project of the tree and the citadel because, now that the druid is gone, the only obstacle are simply a few goblins and kobolds, nothing that the elite from Neverwinter wouldn't be able to pay their way through.
I like Dolmenwood and have been looking at more of a high fantasy, Fae heavy game if my players want to do that.
My start was B! in 1977
The Nimble system has brought this and it's glorious!
Our DM has fused this with a few different modules and some homebrew. We have had loads of fun with it. He picked modules that fit into our backstories. Mine is related to the shadowfell and necromancy this being a perfect launch point.
Our group only got to level 9 by the end. Our DM used xp for leveling and pushed us to be very careful and creative. I’d definitely recommend that kind of level progression to others.
I’m starting this campaign in a couple of weeks and I was really overwhelmed by the opening. After watching your video I’ve decided to bring them there with a funeral. Their friend has died in a fire in their home under mysterious circumstances. They “hopefully” find lower rank cult robes in the rubble. Now they have to figure out if their friend helped the cult or was infiltrating it. It also adds a layer of mistrust from the council.
Commenting on th 4 year old video, still quite useful: my players may find things along the way like patches of specific herbs or outcrops of a type of rock that are either part of a side quest or provide a clue to the main adventure.
This is one of the core traits of the Nimble system. It works BEAUTIFULLY.
This was a pretty interesting video, with good advice, but why is your thumbnail headshots of two GMs who really don't (at least in their public games) run mega dungeons? 😂 Hope to see more like this in the future.
Because every GM is different, their binder is effectively like the spellbook of a Wizard; a reflection of their brand of neurodivergence xD
Great channel! Keep it up! I bet your Dm'd session are wonderful 😊
Do you think that it is more useful to give many information as they become insufficient? It is more tense if i know the whole building but i am haunted down and don't know, for example, the most useful room for that enemy? Thanks again and best wishes 🎉
Beautiful thank you 😊
THANK YOU SO MUCHHH
I like the idea of not treating it as a war. But at the same time, if the council is trying to end the cult, then sending the players alone feels not real. One idea just occurred to me. The council could have recruited additional groups to track cult activities on different regions and given them a way to send word back to the council of any important findings, so that they can in turn direct the other parties. This way the players could receive information of other parties having found and killed some leaders, other parties having being killed etc. Then, perhaps on the final battle, if the players send word of the ritual having started the council could have one other remaining party teleported to aid them. What do you think?
You mentioned polishing it up - did you ever end up doing that? Would it be possible to see the current version?
Really like the trap gauntlet
I look something up in the book and then I make a short list. -What would he have precast on himself to prepare? -What will he cast in the first round? probably his strongest crowd control -What will he do to remove remaining targets? probably his strongest nuke. -What will he do to get away if it goes badly? Probably some sort of teleport or illusion. And that's it. Remember that it's pretty rare for the BBEG to actually last more than 4 or 5 rounds against a competent party, so you only have to know what actions he's going to take in that time.
I've done the same. Now put those onto the stat block instead of having notes 🙂
Fantastic points! Thanks for sharing!
Thanks for watching!
Arden Vul is amazing
I'll check it out 🙂
I haven't really played games since xbox 360 but in the main they dont seemed to have moved on. More multilayer but considering increase in power graphics seem so similar
Nice I like the reddish ones
Their plum set, nice and clear numbering
this completely unbalances the game.. there are so many more ways to reduce combat. and the 5 seconds it takes to roll the dice and ad your modifier to it is nothing compared to all the other ways to reduce combat. like,.. payign attention to otehr peoples turns, having the monsters Ac known so they dont have to ask does it hit every time, or not argueing over little things that dont matter.
Those things do speed up combat. But this rule change actually comes from a product called "nimble" (I have no association) which I recommend checking out. Massively sped up gameplay
Surely, this means a rogue would go mental with sneak attack damage as 1 in 4 dagger hits being crits, and it takes some focus away from two-handed weapons for more reliable crits. If this works with spells, how would that work with a firebolt that does 2d10 from level 5 or just any weapon with multiple die, like 2d6? Just curious on these thoughts as I've never seen this idea before and I'm interested to see your thoughts on this
Weapons like daggers would hit and miss more regularly. Whereas two-handed weapons would hit more reliably.
Just play a game that isn’t broken
Sounds like you should play the MCDM game lol
Very much looking forward to
@@NerdKingdom2018 same. I think it'll cover a lot of the gripes I have with D&D
i was toying with removing attack rolls or doing grazing attacks for warrior types... i love dropping initiative i do it now
Thanks for the useful ideas.
Glad you like them!
I like how you use your encounter table as a sort of countdown timer. I also separate my cities into districts with their own encounter tables, adventures, shops and npcs. Pictures are also really helpful in showing how your adventure sites look and feel. Great video.
Super useful!
very good info, haven't DM"d in years but way better than I ever was.
Cool idea
Yes it’s a good idea for players to see what you’re describing
PSYCHED TO WATCH THIS!!! love your stuff and it's been so long!!!
Greenest In flames is when the cult has climaxed and become militarized. That’s why they’re so dangerous. That’s where the story begins
Yes, you're right 🙂 I think I missed the point and just wanted to see more cult activity. Like a chapter before they militarized would've been cool
I like the exploration table idea, but I'm not going to make an Intagram account just to download a single file.
If I redo that table I'll release it as a doc
Great and awesome video; maybe could have used more maps and sound back in the day...myself never needed much prep-work to let them explore, almost always did improvisation on the spot. Not every DM or GM does this well, I found the instant genius creativity on the fly, can make a huge difference in players enjoyment and thus the difference in perception on how good a DM/GM is.
I don’t know what they were thinking, that map should be a full page. Every map should be a full page.
Thanks, again!
Thank you and your commenters for a lot of inspiration for running this!
Fantastic. I've felt for a while now that exploration is largely missing from modern D&D. I’ve created a list of a couple of hundred points of interest. Major points are mapped beforehand. Minor points get mapped when i decide the heroes have stumbled on them.
I wrote a D&D Novel based around this module, and narrated it on my channel. It's all in a Playlist, and I just recently finished writing and narrating Book Two. Book Three is already in the works. I hope you'll check it out.
I like the idea of having the skeletal alchemist be a friendly NPC as well - teaches new players that not every encounter is combat! (Something I've had to teach my family as I teach them D&D...) Another idea for not giving them a sailing ship - have the bad guys on the ship skuttle it as they realize the combat is not going their way - the bad guys AND the PCs will then need to escape back to shore on rowboats...
That's a cool idea! Next time I run this I'll give that a try 😁
Great video, I'm currently running LMOP and was wondering how this would fit in, I think I will add a few DOISP locations into our campaign and then have the orcs attack phandalin once the players have found and cleared out wave echo cave. This will then lead them to venomfang and lead into storm lords wrath.
