That's a shame that it's gone, but to have had a 306 in the family for 20 years is impressive. Not many left nowadays. I just saw a 1995 5 door in Sainsburys car park. Rare to see another 306 on the road.

You might get lucky. It may behave for the MOT the way my air bag fault did. Stayed off for the MOT, came back on after.

I decided I had to do something. I've gone ahead and put some velcro on the back of the L plate and on the reflector. Hopefully, it'll stay put now and stop rattling.

I agree. Resistors are ok to use as diagnostics. I used a 1.8 ohm resistor to determine that the clock spring was at fault and then I went ahead and replaced the clock spring.

Peugeots and electrical problems go together like fish 'n' chips. My first one, a phase 1 XL was plagued with electrical problems where the wiring goes into the doors. I've still managed to own 6 of them though. There is definitely something about them. Thanks for watching.

Well, he has some physical disabilities that limit what he can do. He is hoping to ride the bike soon though.

Potentially, Yes. I'm 6' 2" but I have lent this bike out to 3 people, all of whom are noticeably shorter than me, and they had no issues but I don't know how tall they each are. I'd suggest sitting on a YZF R125 if you can before you decide to buy one. It's the best way to get a proper feel for the bike.

I like the XSI. I had a phase 1. That was rapid despite being an 8 valve. My phase 3 XS 1.8 16v was far more sensible.

Yes, I think you're right. Even the youngest of 306 is reaching 20 years old and they still look good.

I've had the Michelin Street Pilots on for years but didn't ride in the rain at first. Now that I ride all year round, I find these tyres slip out to easily in the rain. For me, it became more noticeable once I got my big bike because I then had something else to compare with.

Rafiki is a 2012 model. Hopefully the one you're looking at is a good one. 2009 is the second year of the YZF 125 when things settled down. The 2008 had some things different about it even though it looked the same.

So it's not just me then. It baffles me why Peugeot would put a plastic housing behind the engine like that. Makes me miss my classic mini days where every housing is cast aluminium.

27 years is an impressive amount of time to own a 306. I thought I was doing well owning a 106 for 7 years.

@@RokyRode It's modded quite a bit, lowered rear axle with Bilsteins and H&R coilovers up front, as well as fully polybushed engine and suspension bushes. Only slightly tuned with a K&N filter and a freeflow stainless exhaust, together with a 90 degree screw of the allen bolt inside the fuel pump. I still get over 50 MPG and can't really see any point in changing vehicles, especially as it's undersealed evrery five years or so. The road tax is a bit much but that's preferable to the continual limp mode antics of modern diesels. Best regards to you from West Wales.

No mate, she has a Blown Head Gasket, and the 306 was leaking coolant so I couldn't go far. Really gutted I missed the show. Hope to be back there next year though.

I’m 54 and about to do my CBT. I want a bike to last well past getting a full bike licence, and as i’m not interested in straight line speed but twisty road fun (and the joy of not having to pedal) I have finally decided on a new R125. Roky Road, thank you for helping me decide!! 😊👍🏻

Yes I certainly enjoy taking the 125 out, particularly when I'm staying local. That road up to the Dairy Farm is stunning too. Fast becoming one of my favourites.

It was such a gutting thing to go through and then the emotion of getting him back. I'm still shocked I got him back. I like the R1 so much. Been looking at them for a while now, particularly the 5VY from 2004-2006. I like some of the newer ones too.

My 125 is named Rafiki from the film 'Lion King'. I lent the bike to my friend and someone stole the bike. I was lucky, I got the bike back.

I genuinely think that the reason they abandoned mine after stealing him was because they couldn't get him started. with this in mind, I'm thinking immobilisers and hidden kill switches are a good addition along with physical security like chains, disc locks etc. There is also a lock you can get that keeps the front brake applied so that the bike cannot move.

Me too. I'm glad I've got him back no matter the damage, but the stress now is trying to find a genuine replacement ignition switch / barrel. I'm sure we'll get there.
