Whitebass run fly fishing set ups and rigging!
This is what I use and throw through the whitebass run. White bass are one of Texas best native fish to fly fish for. Especially for people new to the sport of fly fishing or folks that just want to hammer on some fish. They pile into our creeks and river by 100s and thousands maybe more and are very willing to eat small minnow like flies. Come see what it's all about Flyfishingwithdanny.com Good luck out there hope this helps yall get ready for the upcoming season. Tying for the up coming White bass Run!
Переглядів 388День тому
If your like me you cant wait for the white bass run. With some warmer weather windows in the forecast you cant tie em fast enough. Heres an easy one basically a fancy shcminnow but its nice to tie some thing other than a clouser sometimes. Dont count this fly out on crappie, yellow bass, hybrids/striper or even clear water largemouth and smallmouth bass fishing. Good luck out there yall hope t...
Targeting big Alligator Gar with a Fly Rod

Since theirs not a ton of information out there on fly fishing for alligator gar i figured id start putting some of my experience out there. Ive been targeting big alligator gar with a fly rod for a few years now and it definitely had a learning curve with lots of break offs and broken rods the first couple seasons. But ive started putting it together thanks to my experiences targeting tarpon, ...

How many did y’all get
@@SchwobFishing only a couple but spent some time poking around for bowfin too
great vid amigo! Hope to see ya soon
Its about that time!!
Just the video I needed!
Appreciate this! Chasing the run from Houston.
@@bradyneeley1500 they're starting there hit the creeks this week you'll probably find em!
Is there a way to tell what creeks they’ll be in
@@SchwobFishing the easiest way to know that. Is it a head water creek that feeds a lake or river? If so in Texas most will have a whitebass run/spawn but you can also check lake or river records to see if any records exist of whitebass. Tpwd keeps records on most water in Texas. Another way to know is if your seeing 3 to 15 cars parked by a creek access this time of year. Plus you can check apps or even UA-cam there's always someone posting something giving spot away.
@@flyfishingwithdannythanks man
Dude can you be anymore laid back😁

This is a private water option I offer with hunting opportunities for pigs and whitetail when in season and is right on the alligator gar rich trinity river. Hmu for details pricing varies.
Drop the coordinates 😂. Nice catches brotha 🤜🤛
Thumbs up cause you used a Stevie Ray Vaughn song 👍👍
He destroyed that fly!
Im brand spanking new to the flylife 🎣 and I think I'm hooked. I mainly only want to do it for big panfish so I'm trying to learn as much as I can. Just subbed to your channel and would appreciate any advice bro. Checking in from the Midwest 🫡🎣
It's a blast! Love breaking out the 3 or 4wt rods and getting bent on crappie, whitebass and huge bluegill! Best advice I'd have fun with it, don't over complicate it and it doesn't have to break the bank. Get a handful of small baitfish flies like clousers, some general stuff like wooly buggers and as we heat up maybe even some boogle bugs. You're in a different region than me so also might have to wait for warmer temps lol good luck spring is taking over here!
@flyfishingwithdanny right on bro🤙🏽 I appreciate the response and useful tips. Noted 👍🏽 and can't wait to become good at it
@@panfishin-fool8057 good luck it's addicting! I almost exclusively fly fish at this point!
What a beautiful time
It was a perfect day for it out there!
Is there a certain season for white bass?
Theyll bite all year but the winter/spring spawn is the most popular. In Texas we're in full whitebass spawn in most of the state. It just started but will probably go into March. All about flows and water temps.
Love to fish for them in the Talladega National Forest
Nice bass , and good time little camp fire and tent right on the river perfect Gotcha hook set 👍 ✌️VANDAL OUT

Nice catch
It's an invasive species... You should not have released it. Just looked it up and in Florida they are protected!? Maybe some states they are and some they are not?
You're a thousand percent wrong. Completely native and pretty much a dinosaur.
@@flyfishingwithdanny Nope you are 1000% wrong.... I'm 1 million percent wrong 🤣😂. Researched it and got mixed up. Very cool fish.
@@a1craftsmen252 they're awesome man!
Ouachitas are special. Love it up there
Yep big fan lol!
Were you using dry or wet flies for these guys? I live a few miles from the cahaba and thinking of visiting soon as I just got into fly fishing. I have located a few spot near me that have coosa redeye that I’m going to attempt to go after as well.
A bit of both. Small boogle bugs and damsel patterns for surface stuff. Small streamers/wet flies like olive/white clouser, olive or black zonker/leach like stuff. A popper dropper boogle bug with a dragon fly nymph is killer as well.
Man I am so ready for next May already.
Dude I'm excited for ya!
river kayaking at its best... nice work Danny...
Just an awesome place loaded with hungry fish!
That first rapid claimed a lot of our groups gear!
Itll will get ya! One of the more fun runs though
Beautiful footage...must have been great with no wind!
Funny enough we complained about the lack of wind because the flies were bad and it was hot!
Glad to see a bowfin getting released. All to often I see guys killing them for no reason and dumping them in the woods
We have been catch and releasing them for the last 10 years of targeting them. They're an awesome native and blast to sight fish
@@flyfishingwithdanny I never understood the catch and kill, but don't eat, mindset a lot of people gave with these fish. Although I do get the don't eat part. I've tried bowfin and it doesn't taste good.
@@waynemattson9143I've heard you can by bowfin caviar in Louisiana 🤷♂️ can't say I'll be trying it...lol

I've been fly fishing in Texas for 16 years, live less than 30 miles from here, and I STILL haven't gotten around to the Nolan. WHAT THE H AM I DOING?!?
Dude it's a cool little river and has been getting some water lately just always could use more
@@flyfishingwithdanny It's just almost impossible to get to without watercraft. I also hear HCSD is ticketing people who park by the creek entrance now, so without watercraft it's pretty much dead in the water, no pun intended.
@@fluxcapacitor05 I've not seen that. There's definitely public access.
