    I call the point where healthy babies cry for a week or so Colic. It’s helpless, stressful and heartbreaking. I went through that too as a infant. What do you guys think I should do to get my baby to stop crying when it has Colic? What are some tricks that you guys can teach me??? Please say hi Gracie when you respond.

    • @purplencsbs6943
      @purplencsbs6943 Рік тому

      Hi Gracie! Normal increased infant crying can be very frustrating. It is important to remember that if it ever becomes too frustrating it is ok to put your baby in a safe place and walk away for a few minutes to calm yourself down. No soothing technique works 100% of the time, but you can try skin-to-skin contact with your baby, walk and sing with your baby, or take your baby on a walk.

      You can try Gripe Water, this helped some people. Also, perhaps try a non-dairy milk formula, sometimes the babies are lactose intolerant and the parents dont know, the baby's intenstines begin to get damaged because they cant take the dairy. So, formulas that are good for highly sensitive baby stomachs such as "PurAmino Hypoallergenic Infant Drink, for Severe Food Allergies, Omega-3 DHA, Iron, Immune Support, Powder Can".

      @@purplencsbs6943Hi, thanks for the advice! I’ll try it out when I have a baby that has Colic. Are there other words for Colic?

    • @purplencsbs6943
      @purplencsbs6943 Рік тому

      @@graceperkins6757 Hi Gracie, the term colic can be confusing for professionals and caregivers, this is why we have introduced the term the Period of PURPLE Crying. Many professionals and individuals refer to the increased inconsolable crying that babies experience as colic, due to a study many years ago that defined colic as a "healthy" baby that cries for three or more hours a day, for three or more days a week, for three or more weeks. To an extent, this is what the term still means, however, infantile colic has also become confused with adult colic which does refer to intestinal pain. So, parents and caregivers may be looking for answers to fix their baby's crying when in fact, this is just a normal developmental period all baby's go through. Now, if your baby is experiencing digestive issues this will only add to the crying that is experienced during this period, and efforts to soothe those pains may only soothe some of the crying. In short, referring to infant colic as the Period of PURPLE Crying may reduce some of this confusion.

    “He looks like he’s in pain, but he’s not.” Something is wrong with this. I get that the effort here is to keep parents from thinking that there is a solution so that they don’t get frustrated and shake their babies, but still. Something isn’t right about saying the baby looks like he’s in horrible pain but he’s not actually…I’ve been asking around and this does not seem universal in all countries nor at all times in history. I hope they keep researching it.

Had two babies 5 years apart and both were super easy they didn’t really cry I was with them most of the the time full time breastfed them. 8 years later now at 39 have a 3 week old and she started crying since the second night of being born and I didn’t understand! I’m doing the exact same thing I did with my first two and then I remember the nurse told me about purple crying before I had the baby but she’s like oh that’s right this is your third you already know.. nope! I firmly believe the reason purple crying happens is because of things like your baby having a food sensitivity and their digestive tracts are distressed. The only times I’ve had crying that horrific was because of dairy being in my diet and it affecting my children. Luckily because of online reading, I found out the issue within a month for my first child, and knew within a week for my second. Would have helped more had my mother and my aunt told me they both had dairy issues with their children and had to substitute soy. Luckily, they have other alternatives now for parents who can’t do soy. Either way, people should definitely be aware that if their babies are crying nonstop, it’s possible it’s something in their diet. Cause I understand not everyone breastfeeds, so giving them cow protein based formula can also cause the same problem.
