Phoenix Herpetological Sanctuary
United States
Приєднався 21 жов 2017
Welcome to the UA-cam Channel for the Phoenix Herpetological Sanctuary, America's largest reptile sanctuary! Stay tuned for new videos every Friday morning.
Moving our American Alligators
Occasionally, the Phoenix Herpetological Sanctuary has opportunities to send wildlife to other zoos and facilities nationwide. This week we had the chance to send a few of our American Alligators along with some snakes both venomous and non-venomous.
This allows our facility to house more surrendered reptiles and provide adequate space to care for them.

Ok
That gator is a real Western outlaw hero
Capybaras are very chill but don't seem to show much interaction with humans...they are just like rabbits...
Breeders should think before they keep breeding some of these animals. Ie sulcata tortoises are way too readily bred. People buy them then realised they have bought have a living bulldozer. Animals should be bought for their entire lifetimes not until we get bored or realise they no longer fit into their lifestyles.
I wonder where the name savannah came from 😂😂x
It's always the haole trying to mess with nature
Won't be the last caught there. Saltwater crocs are coming further south in the southern hemisphere too. it's getting warm enough further from the tropics for them, so they're moving into new habitats. It's what they do. It's why they've survived so long.
Don’t play with dinosaurs
Thanks for sharing!
Fantastic work, team!!!
Preserving his genetics in babies is beyond fascinating to me. Have you had genetic work done on Clem or any of the offspring?
Savannah didn’t want to leave Russ 😂
If you've never vistited the PHS, you need to! Everyone we've met there is amazing. My (almost) 10 year old fell in love with all the animals here and can't wait to join their volunteer program. Thank you for such a wonderful environment <3
Excellent technique! Safety first....
goddammit Clem H Fandango
Thanks!
Great job PHS team!
Thanks for your help but too bad there are so many surrenders.
It's a big problem, but we're committed to providing a safe home for these animals!
Best video ever!!! thanks for taking such good care of the animals!
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed it!
Awesome video!!!
Thank you!
Another unbelievable “Day in the life of”. The tubes to move the alligators is pure genius! I have come to look forward to these videos. Just amazing what you folks (with your nerves of steel) do!
Thank you for watching! Glad to hear it!
Having a family, what joy you gave him. Thanks 🙏❤️🤓🦜😽🖖
I love black throats. Always think they are more like the slower dopier version in the monitor world 😂😂 ❤❤
There were no less than four living in a canal on Camp Williams, UT. I verified them myself. They were at most three or four years when I stopped seeing them, and they wintered over at least twice.
As a Floridian who hunts alligators and sees them all the time, I can only imagine how terrified the worker was when Clem lunged at him. It is a problem most Americans never think about - there is serious danger to people who are hiking or backwoods camping because people have let loose dangerous, non-native animals into the wild. When you're in bear country, you know you are in bear country and take proper precautions. What you do not expect is to find a damned lion or other non-native predator in, say, the Blue Mountains.
those "scoots" are called osteoderms. Turtles have scoots, alligators do not...
also, not technically a wild catch... The guy said this was an animal that was fed by humans, released by humans into the lake, it's a feral catch.
You would be surprised where crocs and alligators end up, even half way across the world you can find the odd gator that's been released as a pet (usaly before laws change to outlaw keeping a species) like back in the 70's / 80's. As for crocs, the saltwater ones move all around the pacific and end up in some strange places. I've heard about salties been spotted in New Zealand that had crossed the ocean from Australia... but they didn't service the cold.
So glad that old pos didn’t release a couple of breeding alligators
Phenomenal video, I love Clem
Lol i live in Fl an that was a little bitty thing 😂
you people are great for taking care of him...god bless you all..
Reptiles, especially crocodilians, are nothing if not resilient. Alligators are very hardy animals that can live full long lives in the wild in bizarre circumstances. They can live with injuries such as birth deformities, missing limbs, and even complete blindness. They’ve also been known to survive being completely frozen in ice for weeks on end. Such is the case of wild alligators who were completely frozen in Oklahoma and only their snouts were visible above the frozen water in order for them to breathe despite not being able to move. They’re ancient animals that have survived for millions of years since the time of the dinosaurs and have remained virtually unchanged throughout history. It’s hard to believe we almost lost them less than 50 years ago forever, as they were listed as critically endangered due to habitat loss and overhunting during the 1960s and 1970s. If conservation efforts had not been put in place we would’ve lost them forever, I’m only 21 and I couldn’t imagine being born into a world without alligators. And just like any alligator, Clem is a survivor. Instead of the moist humid wetlands where he should’ve been, he was able to survive in the hot dry Arizona desert in a small pond with minimal food for nearly 20 years. Once again a testament to the resilience of crocodilians. I’m glad he’s now living his best life at PHS and has a girlfriend now and has made many little Clems that carry on his legacy in the education of these magnificent creatures. Alligators can live up to 100 years in captivity so I guarantee y’all have a lot more years left him. Thank y’all for saving him!
I LOVE this site! The fake-leg..pure genius!!!
Fluffy and Clem sitting in a tree.... adorable !!!
LOVE THIS!!! These men are hilarious!!! Glad gator is doing well...xx
Best documentary ever lmao Clem is a legend fs fs
Wow what an amazing story thank you for rescuing him. Who ended up with some of his babies? Anyone we'd know?? 😍❤ How are their personalities being cb?
A fur farm , shut down 👍
Exo terra is good stuff
Great Story keep up the good work...
I don't know if an alligator being thin is necessarily 'struggling' to survive in that climate. Lizards are just smaller in Arizona than they are in Florida. They have to adapt to their surroundings. I bet if he had his girlfriend out there, they'd have started spreading, actually. Just as a thinner than normal population.
Smaug, the great and mighty!
Smaug, the Terrible!
@ where’s his hoard…no hoard would make any dragon cranky!
Was not a wild gator . An idiot that had it as a pet let it lose .
What's he eating?
We feed him frozen thawed quail.
As a Tolkien fan, I love his name! Did you name him or was that his name when he was surrendered?
All you who care for these critters at the sanctuary are very special. Thank you for educating people of all ages about your amazing work. I hope more people will donate to help you continue to save these amazing creatures.
True Arizonans are survivors, Clem is no exception
I always worry about the stress it cause them with so much change and stress. I’m so glad he not only survived but is thriving!
I live in Florida and am a big fan of alligators and crocodilians….. thank you for helping keep this alligator safe and sound. It’s cool that BLM let that be part of the contract. Surprisingly, they also kept their contractual obligations despite thinking it was a tall tale. Yay for Clem. Cool organizations and rescue workers efforts! Thanks!
............if you guys are in A.Z.. i'll have to come and visit...............give me hila monster............
