2006 GMC Duramax Y Bridge Install
Yes you can install a new y bridge in your Duramax without removing the turbo. Not the easiest job but a little patience it can be done. Never figured it would take two days to get at 8 bolts. There are a few must have tools to get the job done:
-flexible extension
-tubing and tie wire
-cut down socket
-Lots of patience
I highly recommend the y bridge from SDP Screamin Diesel Performance. It’s a very well made quality part available in many colours of your choice. Honestly I’d order from them direct and avoid any middle men like eBay.

Probably wouldn’t have to but might be a good idea to feel how tight the chain actually is once you put the new one in. Just for piece of mind once I put the manual tensioner in, I never had any more issues with the timing, wish I had done it way sooner

Nice Y-Bridge! I bought the HSP bundle kit. I got the (raw) no powder coating so that I could get the parts ceramic coated. It was a huge disappointment. The finish work was garbage. The y bridge was made from a mold and had tons of pits and globs of slag. I spent a lot of time and money cleaning up these parts. I should have sent them back. Yes there is a procedure for the idle relearn , do not expect to succeed on one try. Here the procedure Do not perform this procedure if DTC are set Start and idle the engine in PARK for 3 minutes . With a scan tool, monitor desired and actual RPM. The ECM will start to learn the new idle cells and Desired RPM should start to decrease. Ignition OFF for 60 seconds . Start and idle the engine in PARK for 3 minutes . After the 3 minute run time the engine should be idling normal. IMPORTANT: During the drive cycle the check engine light may come on with idle speed DTCs. If idle speed codes are set, clear codes so the ECM can continue to learn. If the engine idle speed has not been learned the vehicle will need to be driven at speeds above 70 km/h (44 mph) with several decelerations and extended idles.

And everything I’ve read & seen, says to go ahead & do the Y bridge as the factory one fails quickly after the deletion- if it hasn’t already. I’ve got 190,000 on mine & want it to run sweetly for another 190,000 miles. The other Y bridges I’ve seen were all 1 piece units, This unit being a 2 piece, I’d wonder if any leaks occurred where the 2 units that make up this Y Bridge bolt together?
