DO NOT DO THIS... I've made mine this week, 3 screws etc same as shown and me and my pal said this is class blah blah he even said he was making one when we get back. Started smoking when it got too hot so decided to blow it out!!!!! It was like I'd put petrol on it, first time using this new brolly system was ALMOST ITD AND MY LAST!
@@4seasoncarping853can’t tag you in my comment to make sure you get a notification so I’ve tagged you in this guys comment. Was just wondering how you made the holes in the tin so I don’t make a mess of mine?
So why not just take the 3 candles side by side and just light them on a board no canister at all!!! What in the hell is the purpose of the top and bottom of the metal canister the heat is going and doing the EXACT same thing regardless of the canister heatwise. No difference in heat whatsoever. Pretty stupid actually. All the candles are doing is heating the lid on the canister and not the room where as the candles just side by side heats the air in the room.
I watched this the other day and didn't get a chance to comment. I made a variation of it and posted the video. I mentioned you in the vdo and added a link to your channel and this vdo in the description.. basically I turned the tin over and filled it with small rocks, you could use sand or local materials so you dont need to carry it, I dont have that problem as I will use it at home or in the van. It was still radiating heat after the candles were out, it was well over an hour before i could comfortably pick up one of the small stones I used...
Great video. Thank you. Can you use a larger can perhaps a cookie tin? I would like to use this to help warm up a small room, or bathroom if the electricity went off. Thank you and best wishes from Canada.
Easier just to take the 3 candles and light them side by side on a flat surface and or then HEATthe air in the room instead of a lid which ISN'T going to heat a small room.
I reckon that's an excellent idea - not only for fishing bivvies but also for anyone backpacking. It'll warm a tent just as well as a bivvy. So I'm going to make one. I don't go fishing so I don't have any fishing line tins but almost any tin about that size will do.
Any added metal to the top would be a help, it would add mass, you could take washers and line a long bolt then cap it with a nut, band a few together and lay on top for the added mass, just an idea anyways. Good video, God bless
I use those candles, but you can get ones that last 8 hours. But what I do is keep my used candles from the previous night. And that’s because the wax tends to stay unmelted around the rim of the used candles. I then use the heat from my new candles to melt the wax from the used ones, and then periodically and carefully pour the melted wax into my lit candles. For this I use my unhooking forceps so as not to burn my fingers! In that way I can extend the candle burn time to 12 hours. So I basically leave mine on all night in the winter. So the bivvy is always warm and has a nice bit of dull light.
So I don’t make a mess of mine how did you make the holes in the tin?

I don't understand why that happened mate I've used one all winter never had a problem
Road needs repairs
Not just overnight either...a Godsend when February Piking during the day!
What's a bivvy? I thought it was a waterproof bag you sleep in. I can't imagine putting this heater inside 😂
No a bivvy is like a fishing tent
Cheers pal gonna try that
Just made mine , tested it with 2 tea lights , it actually does knock out some heat . Thanks for the video 🎣🎣🎣
Nice one buddy

Mine went on fire
I don't understand why that would happen are you using big candle's
I have fishing mate's that have made them and had no issues with them
But what set on fire it's a tin 🤔
Wouldn't recommend making one as I did make one use it for 1-hour and it caught light
Well all I can say mate is you done something wrong because I've used one for 2years and never had a problem
As a matter of interest what set on fire it's all made of metal
Brilliant, gonna make 1 for this weekend

Mate just try it and you will see it works
The tin heat's up and give of more heat than just the candle's
Is that tent made of dare I say it (canvas) thick treated cotton. Please send necessary information to get myself one!!!
Hi it's a trakker tempest made by trakker and it's made from nylon
Nash would charge 40 quid for that
FYI, beeswax candles are better than paraffin candles. Beeswax burns hotter and cleaner than paraffin.
Thanks I'll give them a try 👍
Thanks for sharing
Can I add some rocks on top jist to keep the heat a little longer?
Yeah I suppose you can I've never done it just try it see if it works
@@4seasoncarping853 I will and I'll let you know. Thanks
Great idea mate. Did you put any holes in the top part. Thanks.
No I didn't mate , for the small candles it was ok but maybe you will for the bigger one's
Thanks mate.

It's a trakker bivvy and it's made of water proof nylon

Yeah I'm sure it would work Just as well try it and let me know how you got on 👍
Smart design, lightweight, safe solid fuel for transport, cheap, brilliant.
Thanks,I hope you make one 👍

Lol no it's not mate believe me you need the tin
@julioleon559 why have radiators? Just run some hot water in the sink.

TEA LIGHTS DON'T PRODUCE MUCH OF A FLAME. wOULDN'T THEY PRODUCE LITTLE HEAT AS WELL? i HAVE SEEN VIDEOS WHERE THE TEA LIGHT CANDLES WONT BOIL WATER.
Just try it Frank you will be surprised how much heat it makes
haven't tried it personal but thanks. i will
Does it really not melt your bivvy table or your groundsheet?
No mate it doesn't no heat is transferred to the bottom just the top tin gets hot
@@4seasoncarping853 cheers for reply. I will give it a go 👍
From the USA good job very creative is creative U or a Thinker
Made mine in five minutes great little heater.👍
Or we could buy a nash bivvy heater for £35 and the nash bivvy heater bag for £15 ,nice one mate that looks a good idea 👍worth trying
Definitely try it mate thay worth
Thay work
Looks like it would be warmer than a clay pot.
Yeah it warms up fast and it's easier to pack away
Nice
I use a clay plant pot
KOOL , but when you're out fishing I think the tin is more convenient to use ,but whatever keep you warm lol
Best one yet! Thanks!
No problems mate
