Walking around my dorm in 1991. Now, the dorm still stands in an abandoned state.
George AFB - 1991 - Part 1

This is me and a buddy driving into George AFB back in 1991. Not the best camera work, but it does show George AFB at a much better time.
Wait I was recently there, and I had the same Eagles song playing in my car... that's so weird
Tond of horny white milfs i bet
Ronald Reagan on the tv in the background of pizza place…. Wow!
I was born at George on 4 July 1989. I left a few months later with my parents to Clark AB and my parents sold our house in Victorville once we got back to the states a few years later. I like to visit the area one day. My dad was a pilot there from 1984-1989.
One
Ha!! The base housing shown at 1:27 was my house at the time this was filmed! George was a great place to be stationed. I was there until the weasels moved to Nellis in ‘92. Loved it there!
Wow I've never see it fully functioning....I live in Victorville but was to young to remember the base before it got closed
And today, the desert has retaken it all -- the trees are almost all dead now, and nothing green or growing remains.
Ahh yes...the hospital gate...listening to KVVQ...the F-105 Wild Weasel on static display...Phantom Lanes...
I lived rite outside George back in 85-87 I was 12 went to air shows there it’s a trip see it like it was
Just drove through GAFB few days ago. Such a shame and a mess now. Buildings collapsing, graffiti everywhere, some buildings burned to the ground. I was there in 1981 when I was visiting while I was in the Army. So sad they let it go. I posted the video on my you tube channel if you watch you'll see what I mean.
Now it's an airsoft/paintball battleground. It's crazy seeing this footage.
Hey i have videos of your old dorm, i saw this vid and i wanted to see it for my self. Went there yesterday and want to grab some pictures. If theres any way you can contact me i can share them with you.
Holy cow! I was a resident of that dorm from 1988-1992. Bldg 255. First room was #208 and ended up in room #127 when the base closed. Still remember the spiral staircase in the dayroom up to the pool tables on the 2nd floor. The 3rd floor was the bar! I retired from Nellis is 2012 and went back to George, or what was left of it, around that time. So many memories came flooding back.
Wait there were trees?!
It’s amazing what 30 years of decay and abandonment will do to a place. Looks nothing like this now
Wow a big City in Victorville and government just let it go unbelievable taxpayer's waste of money know wonder there homeless in California
That day room is way nicer than the one at my barracks. Sheesh... a working tv!
Compared to todays Society, I would go back any year befoe this was taken.
The good ole days !! 🍺 😎 👍
1991
I was managing the optical shop by the barber shop and ice cream shop at this time in the little mini mall. The little white church was put on a truck and moved to I avenue in Hesperia after the base closed as is still being used. That Burger King was my favorite. Great memories…cool that you took this video
A huge airline bone yard. Housing and the hospital is long since been abandoned. I hate to see this, like Norton AFB was sacrificed as well with Castle and many others. Progress I guess.
Was there 82 91
Dang and now its abandoned with a prison across from it
We lived on base at this time. Had a new baby etc. sad it’s all abandoned now
I promise you nobody appreciates this video more than I do.. I am overly fascinated by this place I’m sitting in it right now, I come here all the time. I’ve always wanted to know what was it like when it was active, what did it look like, what were the people like, so many things…
I do miss George AFB and would be sad to see how it looks today. I remember having grass being painted prior to inspections. :-)
@@pressure72 I have a hard time finding much information so thank you!!
@@pressure72 also I welcome any other memories youd be willing to share 🙃
I wish they would've gotten the old hospital that's apparently haunted now. I kind of want to see how it looked before it was abandoned.
Great videos. I actually took some videos today of the barracks. They still have all the stuff inside them.
Whats that tall building right at the biggining of the video ?
If you’re referring to the building at :19 it was an administrative building. It’s where you would get set up with your ID cards
WEnt driving around there today. Would ofloved to of seen it how it was back then. Ive been looking for thebowling alley and the shops and stores u mentioned but they must of knocked them down. The movie place is still there, At one time actually not too long ago you could get inside it bunow they have put all dirt there piled high at every enyrance sono one can get inside.
I miss this base. We were stationed there in the 80’s through the closure
I was stationed there from 1961to3 at the hospital. The old WW11 ramp hospital.
I was there from 78 till 80 - Transportation Squadron - thanks for posting!
I lived at George in 1987 and boy to I miss it. Now my family is finding out that George Air Force Base was toxic and caused my brothers and sisters to get very sick. We lived at Montana court.
I love this video. My girlfriend and I drove through the now abandoned base housing and by the hospital for fun last week and I enjoyed seeing it back when it was active (before either of us was even born lol)
I wanted to get stationed there when I enlisted in 88, thanks I didn’t
It's like a time portal. Man I miss those days.
I was in the Army Airborne Infantry from 2004 to 2011. In 2005 I went to NTC nearby and they decided after we should conduct a week of MOUT training at George AFB at the abandoned base housing. Aside from the asbestos warnings and hot days I somehow found myself obsessed with imagining how people lived there before we arrived and how the base looked in its heyday. Thanks to your video, I not only got a peak at how the base housing looked (there was green grass at one point!) but i also caught a glimpse of the barracks room i stayed in during that time, and I won't get into how much better you apparently lived in '91 in the Air Force than I did in '05 in the Army. I don't know if you will ever see this comment but thank you sir for this little gem, sir. You made my day.
What was the car you guys were driving? Sounded good!
My little brother was born there in 89. We lived in apple valley until 90 and then ft Irwin until 92.
1974-1978 CES..Burger King for real?? Don't even look like the same place Rick Martin where are you bro?
Wow!
I’m on that road constantly ,and it’s intrusions to see the high desert before I was even born thank you for posting
Wow
Homeless communities want to move into this area and demand government support and funds to pay for their non-working lifestyle. So, soon it can be known as Looserville instead of Victorville for California bums and druggies.
Thanks for posting! I miss those days. I was there at the same time for 3 years but don't remember the pizza place.
We want to see the landscape, not listen to your fav radio station
I liked it. It's a piece of the time.
Thats funny! On that day I was there and it was my birthday. I turned 18. Im 46 now. I was on base that day! Good memories!! My dad was in the 562tfs.
I’m supposed to be going there for my friends birthday and from the videos I see now man it is so messed up and seeing this videos already changing my perspective on it
