10.5 inches if using 2x4s (they're really 3.5 in.) Or measure the width of whatever material you're using and multiple by 3 to get your length

Great job on the build, I’m definitely going to build this, however that timber doesn’t look like it can withstand a lot of weight, would go 35mm x 70mm for more strength

Good results, cool build. I've actually built my own version of Ana White's "benchwright" coffee table, which is a very similar design except that it's 16" tall and has drawers, and I've considered adapting those plans to make a 30" tall desk. Now that I've seen how nice yours turned out, I want to make it.

You made it look easy. With lumber prices as they are, I was searching for a way to make shelves from pallets. (have several of them, in fact, I built a 10’x14’ shed with pallets for the walls.)

So funny that I started this project and then found your video with nearly the same idea and dimensions. Thanks for sharing. My wife wanted a pantry so I had to go overboard. Our kitchen was poorly designed and the best wall for the fridge is too shallow due to the doorway, so I recessed it into the old 2nd doorway to the guest bedroom/dining room option??? From there, I am building a floor to ceiling, 5' wide x 2.5' deep pantry for appliances, bakeware etc... now she can use all the cabinets as she sees fit. It is a fun and tedious project and now that shelves are in and interior is painted, I am working on organization before building the front wall and doors. The kitchen already feels a whole lot bigger. 😊

2x4 are standard for building houses. I would think that a few storage shelves can be supported by much less. Just note that Ikea shelves have approx. 1x3 pine posts. and I have them for years.
