Переглядів 7014 днів тому
Since my teenage years, I’ve experienced sleep paralysis and the chilling sensation of a 'demon' presence at night once or twice per year. In this episode, I share my personal sleep paralysis experiences, some stupid but fun theories, and some insights about how creative minds may be more prone to sleep paralysis, depression, and other conditions. I will be following up on this topic in another...

Dan is the fuckin man! Just commenting so I can check this out after work.
@@stateofmind19379 Much appreciated! 🤝
Thanks for having me dude!
@@Danfonce Hell yeah! Loved our chat! 🤝
I remember seeing these guys at Hellfest in the early 2000's.
it's a good play through.... but man do i miss real norma jean (literally only bless the martyr lol)
Thanks! Bless the martyr was a huge influence on me as a teenager, but I prefer the later records.
Good!!!
@@unknowndrummer5163 Thanks for watching! 🤝
this was one of the top played songs in my 2024 spotify
@@elemental_self Hell yeah! 🍻
Was just jamming to this recently! Norma Jean is one of a few bands that has stayed high in my rankings of favorite bands for over a decade now. Other bands have came and gone when my tastes in music changed, but NJ always stuck around.
Couldn’t agree more! This record was a big favorite of mine, and they just keep getting better. I think All Hail is #1 for me.
like UA-camers
Thanks for this cool video 😁, all that’s left to do is advertise it
This convo made our past fantasies of becoming so much more in a quick moment more clear.. Here I heard why our experience with Guy when we met in Richmond, VA. Even though he mentioned offering us a spot on Black Market Activities... the reality of it makes it all so much more real. The most real/best history with an honest explanation is that he had so many bands that he enjoyed and couldn't offer results to all of them while there were monetary issues that were pretty real. It all gives me a better perpspective on our past communications.
One of the nicest dudes I’ve had the pleasure to meet and tour with! Loved hearing the backstory and birth of BMA! Thanks for always being our Gandalf 🖤🤘🏻
I remember seeing The Red Chord so many times at The Chance in Poughkeepsie. They always got the most epic intros from the bouncer there. Guy also has legendary banter on stage: "I wanna see big guys doing big stuff, I wanna see little guys doing little guy stu... actually everyone should be doing big guy stuff!"
@@VinceSeibert That’s fantastic 😂 Thanks for the listen brother!
I see Guy.. I click. Great ep!
Thanks for listening! 🤝
Man, listening to this episode of the podcast was like traveling back in time. I wasn't part of your music scene, because I'm Brazilian. But almost all the bands mentioned were soundtracks of my early twenties: red chord, pig destroyer, curl up and die, converge, cave in, psyopus, fassw, cephalic carnage (my all time favorite)... I have a particular memory of The Red Chord when they released Fused. I never forgot the first time I listened to this album, I was arriving at the University of Brasilia for my 8 am class and I put a burnt copy of the record on my Sony minidisc. I was so in love with the album that I never forgot that moment. Sorry about the pirate mp3 I got. 😂
That’s so cool to hear man. You were still a part of it in some way! I love when first listens to records are connected with a core memory. I have lots of those.
The Joe pee story had me dying. I have a good Joe pee story too...
@@in.der.welt.sein. Oh boy 😂
Fucking pumped you dudes are back and making music again! You've probably answered this a million times, but is the old stuff in the works for a vinyl release or nah?
@@iktpqmatt We already released the full discography with Wax Vessel so that will not be reprinted unfortunately.
@PaulMisko Shit, that's right, completely forgot about that. Welp on with new shit then!
@@iktpqmatt I’m pumped that you’re pumped dude. Thanks for watching. 🤝
I was wondering where Joe was... I just about passed out from laughing so hard when the image popped up 😂 This is great, keep up the aweome work brother. 🤘
I love everything about this.
@@markevans6318 Appreciate ya brother. 🫂
This style of video reminds me a lot of the 'studio documentaries' that bands do sometimes when recording new albums. There is some weird charm to it where it feels like we are there hanging out with you. Definitely subbed after that, looking forward to more!
Thank you so much! That’s exactly what I was going for! 🤝
Absolutely love this! Nick’s drums sound so good!!
Thanks brother! He never stops tweaking! 😂
When practicing at home, what are you using to push the audio from your Quad Cortex?
@@AlwayzTired I run the quad to the power stage 170 then into a Marshall 4x12. We used to run full stacks live so I have an extra one that lives at my house.
@ awesome. I’ve been really interested in getting a Quad Cortex….even for a bedroom guitarist it seems quite intriguing.
@@AlwayzTiredHighly recommend it!
Well done!
Cameos by: Leon, Harvey and the late Bronco.
Great convo...Loved the full spectrum of ideas that were covered.
love seeing this kind of video from you (guys)!

Much appreciated! 🤝
I was the drummer in Everything Falls Together and we loved playing with you fellas. Still got your CD and we rocked that on tour all the time!
Oh shit! What's up dude! That tour was so much fun. Loved playing with you guys. Hope you're doing well brother.

@ Thanks so much brother! Good to hear.
I'm hyped
One of my oldest friends and favorite guitarists in a one podcast. 🤯❤
Thank you! 🫶
The coffee creamer was my idea. Also that girl leatherface was a junkie mess, and she was putting aloe on my gnarly sunburn during one of the bands sets. I was like uh, okay?

oh shit theres tabs nvm
@ Happy to help if you have any other questions. I threw those together very quickly haha.
Thank you for playing this and sharing your story! For me this is one of the most perfect songs I’ve ever heard. Unhallowed will forever shape me and my teenage years. Gone but never forgotten, love you Trevor.
Thanks for watching! I couldn’t agree more. The song has always has always been special to me.
“Orders some sage and drives to Paul’s”
Would love to talk about this more, it’s happened since I was a kid. Only 3 times I can vividly remember so I I have no idea if there was more. But I never saw anything
The Alien reference is dead fucking on...
Yo that story is 👀
@@Cell-Jai ill tell you more about it
Bro, you’re the first person I know IRL that has this as well. I used to get this and other times “nocturnal panic attacks” I went to drs, did sleep studies and started therapy years ago due to this. Insanely terrifying. My sleep “demon” would come in two different forms. One was a shadowy mother Mary type figure, and other was almost like an insect alien.
Whoa! I’m not sure if I’ve known anyone that has it like me either. Dude that’s wild. Did the therapy help?
@ still doing it. I just started some new therapy called EMDR. It’s supposed to help with trauma PTSD. It’s slowed down the nocturnal panic attacks, but like you the sleep paralysis isn’t as common so it’s hard to say. I feel like I have it more than twice a year, but I don’t keep track. It’s been since summer since my last sleep paralysis event. Crazy man. I’ve got theories too! It seems so real
what's the new tuning??

What a great interview! This is the most ive ever hear Rob talk in my life LOL! Loved his story and esp about the BJJ origin! \m/
Great listen. Excited to hear more from you guys. You need to find and release all the old bands demos and eps
@@TheVennetti Thanks brother! Sure do haha.
Thanks for this Paul, you are a great musician and for sure, a great and lovely man and friend. I’m enjoying this sooo sooo much, fassw represents something highly important in my life since I had first listening back in 03-04 and no matter how much time has passed, I still love the band as I do since those years. I would LOVE if you someday can grant me with the enormous privilege (like just you or you an Rob (😳😮💨 fuck man, too much to ask…) of making a playthroug of “Vespers” 😮💨🤩 (I got that song name printed on my beer belly -panza in spanish haha 😆- ) I am and always be thankful for your existence cause your music, has helped me like… man… I just say a LOT through all these years haha (I’m almost 40). Without you guys I would not be me cause’ you are essential in mu “life soundtrack”. If I die and reborn as a song, I would choose to exist like Vespers, cause I feel that song explains with no words how being me (in general) is and feels, it’s like being an “Organized Insanity”: Heavy, dark, raw, violent, mad, angry, ruthless but at the same time, lovely, sweet, melodic, intense, epic, romantic, and also like with structure but also make you feel FREE, drained and calm… IDK, so much feelings I can name, but yea, pretty much like that. I really hope you read this. If you ever wanna come to EL SALVADOR, CENTRAL AMERICA 🇸🇻 🥳🥰 (pupusas man 🫓 , you’ll love that food, I guarantee you that man) your home is ready to receive you. Lots of love and good vibes for you and the guys. I hope I can have rhe enormous honor to meet you someday and to have enough for that and for watching the band at least a 2nd time before I die. Have a great day. With all respects: Oscar Alas (Wings) from El Salvador in Central America🇸🇻 (the guy from a 1000 miles away hahaha, back in 2006 before you joined I saw the band and they called me like that, cause IT IS that far 😂) Cheers!! Stay FASSW 🤘🏽! ❤❤
Wow man! Thank you very much! I showed all the guys your comment, and they were moved by your words. It means so much to us that our music has had such an impact on anyone. We would love to play down there some day if ever possible. Since I wasn't in the band during that record, I do not know the song aside from a few parts, and we have not relearned it yet since our reunion.I do hope to one day. It's almost 9 minutes and has many, many parts so it's difficult to fit into our set haha. If I find the time to figure out how to play the whole thing, I will absolutely do a play through. Thank you so much again for your kind words and support. We appreciate you! 🫂
