Jodorowsky's Dune deleted scenes (Japanese / French DVD)
The Japanese and French editions of Jodorowsky's Dune included 6 additional deleted scenes which were not on the North American DVD (which had 9). Some of the dialog here is in French or Spanish which I have roughly translated from the Japanese subtitles. The text of the translations is in its scene in the scene list below. Run times are also approximate.
----
Chris Foss's Colors 1:25
----
Foss vs Vignau 3:53
Vignau: People say many things, but actually it was a coffee mug.
----
Regarding Charlotte Rampling 1:44
Jodorowsky: Among actors, many actors wanted to be in it. Only one person turned it down, a French actress. Charlotte Rampling. The parts she had played previously were very good. She is woman with a powerful mind. I wanted her to play the princess. She’s not a feeble woman. A strong woman was needed. I felt she had that grounding. Amongst the characters, there is a man named The Beast Rabban. He is an extraordinarily rough, boorish soldier. A fearsome person. He leads troops. “The Beast Rabban!” In order to insult Leto, Rabban gets thousands of soldiers to drop their pants in front of the palace and they defecate. A magnificent scene with 2000 extras all acting at once. That’s Rabban’s style of insulting someone. We sent the script to Charlotte Rampling. Before she had read it, she said, “I’ll do it”. But when she read that scene, she said, “I can’t be in a movie where a huge number of people are excreting”. She rejected it without understanding it. “I appear in movies that people can just watch normally.” She didn’t understand at all. I was disappointed.

The Warriors' Successes in Later Years 2:28
----
Brontis's Training 6:17
Jodorowsky: He’s passed away now, but he was truly a living encyclopedia. I found a person who was like a living encyclopedia and entrusted him with educating my son to be a mentat.
Vignau: I trained Brontis 6 hours a day every day for 2 years. From how to attack to how to defend, I taught him karate and Japanese martial arts. Punches, kicks, locks, pins, standing techniques, etcetera. A combination of karate, judo, aikido, and striking techniques. With this fusion of techniques, he would get on my shoulders, and while training the arms, I would train the legs.
Vignau: He was a child prodigy that sought perfection.
Vignau: Alejandro entrusted me with it because I was a former guard with a lot of experience. If it’s actual fighting, leave it to me. In order to allow the movie scenes to evolve, it became a place to experiment with integrating all aspects of martial arts. I wasn’t a fan of kung fu movies. Too many special effects for my taste. And too unrealistic as well. That was the first non-martial arts movie with martial arts in it. The martial arts in the movie which would do this for the first time would be performed by warriors of the past and warriors of the future. The far distant future is now almost the present. But martial arts has a history of about 5000 years. In the present, or 5000 years ago, or 5000 years from now, as long as people have two arms and two legs, the techniques will not change. They are future warriors.

To Make Movies Containing Spirit 2:36
Jodorowsky: It wasn’t simply a movie. It was a spiritual work. Perhaps I was out of my mind, but I was living insanely. The work which I wanted to create was an adventure for people around the world, containing mystical elements to spur some sort of transformation. Paul experiences a transformation, and my son expected the same. That was my intention. It was unusual to be sure, but if it was the environment I had, don’t you think I would have been able to have an impact on the world? If I had completed it.

Al final el frances lo cago y vendió la peli a todas las productoras.por eso vino la bronca con el tiempo y se alejo de el.
"Greed is for amateurs"
Mmy favorite Dune book surprisingly
Holy ShaiHallud , Leto II was ultimate arrogant narcissist megalomaniac this side of Omnius. If there wes ever a being deserving to be burned by Machine Obliterators , he was. As King Leonidas once said to another self proclaimed god-emperor, "Even god can bleed".
Wow, you don’t get it
So LetoII Pre-Scattering Human Empire ecompasses multiple Galaxies. I imagine Milky Way, Ord Cloud satelite galaxies would be the extent. How far could the Guild Navigators range?
"Big stars are the illness of the movies ", take that Villeneuve
I say put in a A.I Art generator the Jodorowsky Dune Bible and all we know about the original project. GO !
"Frank Herbert wanted his book to be given to a creative person with lot of imagination. He didn't want to make it into a series for American TV..." How much imagination is in the new movies? I wonder what Frank Herbert would think about these. Good for them they can't ask.
My favourite book probably. Read by the master himself. Thank you!!
Just realised the book cover at 24:00 is where Denis Villeneuve might have got the film poster lettering from
10:30 read "culture industry" from Horkheimer & Adorno they say the same. Art that should lift us, break through the dust of repeating association tracks, has become today an industry for the mammon
Best part is "I do believe at that time it was just $7000. It was nothing, for Seydoux it was nothing" Then it cuts to Seydoux: "$100000 was a lot of money"
Not very many deleted scenes
Jodo actually read the novel to make the script. Some of you didn't understand what he said. Jodo said that _he accepted to make the movie without having read the book,_ but, later, he read Dune _in the script writing process._
To all those people who complain here about "the bad results this movie would have had if it had been made": remember that _the team that Jodo assembled a few years later made ALIEN, using ideas and images that had been created for Jodo's Dune..._
from 9:46 about directors as poets !!!!! I will write this down in my notebook and look at it EVERY DAY I promise you Jodo!!!
Feck your clickbait title.
If they truer to fill this in modern France these two would be knocked out or stabbed 10 mins into their walk
So they gave multi milion movie to guy who speaks English like someone who just installed Duolingo...4D chess move.
This charlatan didn’t even read the book
This man is walking a really really thin line between being a genius and being crazy! :D
Fuck AI
I was perplexed about the Jodorowsky's capacity to o this film; after watching Villeneuce's Dune part 2 I AM sure th3 Jodo was the only one able to do that movie; Villeneuve's film is visually intriguing but it has nothing to do with the real Dune novel ( I read it three times).
its a radically centrist book, but a radically leftist film
I can see this made into a animated movie
Jodorowsky is a gold digger...
Meaning...
Charlotte Rampling was set to star in Jodorowsky’s ‘Dune’. Plans within plans.
Michel Seydoux is the grand-uncle of actress Léa Seydoux. Plans within plans.
yes we got a bunch of movies, Yes we got the Jodoverse comics but they arent DUNE. Really hope a version of the big book gets publically available in mass market one day. God what a dream.
I'm so glad this movie wasn't made.
But he didn't even read those books. LOL

Te me Jodorowsky's Dune seems like it would have been another drug fueled nightmare of bizarre lewdness and poorly thought out 70's sci-fi dreck like Barbarella and Zardoz.
To all those people who complain here about "the bad results this movie would have had if it had been made": remember that _the team that Jodo assembled a few years later made ALIEN, using ideas and images that had been created for Jodo's Dune..._
The whole movie is a deleted scene.
Misleading title. There are not deleted scenes because Jodorowsky never started filming. This are just outtakes from the documentary.
LOL. I guess you‘re the only one who thought he was misled. For everyone else, it was perfectly clear which film the deleted scenes were from.
The movie would have sucked. There is a reason it never got made.
1:18 huh... who knew Villeneuve was German.
Vine por Dune y encontré al hermano perdido de Daniel Rabinovich, estuve esperando que diga Terpsicore en todo momento.
I am so glad this movie was not made. He was totally wrong for this movie. If it was made it would have been a giant mess

30:00 guy was 100% right seing how Indie Productions are taking off
An abominable intelligence will have a shot at it! 🎉 27:22 is a world coming fast to our doorstep at the time I write this...
Who did / What's the source of the preview thumbnail artwork, please? Thanks.
The artwork is by Hugo Emmanuel Figueroa
I want that book!
18:29 Amazing thought.
Hope AI makes his imagination into an awesome 100 hours movie
That would be like spitting in the face of Jodorowsky himself.
crazy old man
Il n'y aurait pas un grand mécène pour financer ce film, qu'on voit enfin quelle grosse daube c'aurait été ? (Ou pas...)
That was great.
History belongs to the doers, at least David Lynch finished his film. In fact if you have a camera and imagination you can do any film. Look at youtube
Actually, Lynch finished production but never finished HIS film : producer DeLaurentis sadly did.
Had Jodorowsky made his version of Dune Villeneuve would never have had a shot at it.
Do you mean Jordo would have made a version so good, a remarke would be futile, or he'd have made a version so bad, no studio would ever go near the novel again?!
@@davidlean1060 Yes.
Jado reminds me of Jason Lannister, "That man's pride has pride."
Alto cringe. Los gringos se impresionan con cualquier basura hecha por pedófilos adinerados.
