Very nice! UA-cam is lacking in the AK content! Appreciate it
This is how i feel about the PTR 41/43 rifles of WW2. OG SKS.
Dope! I look forward to it! I’ve passed on the Ak mag fed SKS BUT I’m thinking I need one in my life.
SKS salad days.

@@NCrdwlf Thanks for stopping in!!! I appreciate the sub. Im so glad you enjoy it!
That’s a very cool piece👍

Are these FRT kits more reliable than the MaRs FRT Kit from Alfa?
The Mars Trigger is an FRT. I think it’s a more reliable design, but I don’t have enough rounds on one to comment on practical reliability. I’m doing some testing as I plan to run one at KB.
Hey, why are you along with Klayco and FocusTripp ignoring what Alfa tactical did. You must be aware of petes scam by now?
Please enlighten me
@@KalashKamaz I can fill you in, this is all getting very twisted, sorta gross. Sent you an email titled alfa
Did you do thay at petes shop? He can do some pretty rad stuff.
Yes sir!
All u need is the alg the ak will do the rest.. goes brrrt all day no frt needed.. its cool and all and i wana try one but seems too aggravating.
@@shaundraco308 oh there is a follow up coming soon. An ALG definitely does not go brrrrr. It’s no more aggravating than anything you have to do doing basic gunsmithing. There is a reason I was upfront that I am working with Alfa. It is a completely different design, requires much less tuning, and there is currently a version 2.0 in development. I’m just not going to make any claims on what we are doing with 2.0 until we are far further and have a prototype, but I will say the thing we are trying to get to is aggravation free.

great video, brief and to the point...do you know if i can fit one of these on my Riley Defense RAK308?
With a dremel you can make anything fit. The Mars trigger is a different design completely. Id go with that for a 308.

Whatever happed to Arsenal? Just before the first AWB, (yeah I’m old), I bought an SA-M7s with a milled receiver. It had a milled receiver and a Steyr barrel. The rifle was insanely accurate and Gucci by today’s standard. If it weren’t for the lack of decent fixed stop options (LOP was way too short - I’m 6’ 5”) I would have kept it. I never hear anything about them anymore. I sold it for a hefty profit (literally a bidding war here behind the lines in Massachusetts) when the AWB sunsetted (it never did here and now we are really screwed). Happy New Year man.
Basically, they doubled their prices, and it became more common knowledge of how they control the market on top of the fact that people are now aware that the stamped ones are not made in Bulgaria… and they can’t seem to drill a gas port correctly for some reason. That’s my guess.
@ - Thank you for your thoughtful reply. Sad to hear. Had modern furniture been available back then (all that was offered was idiotic slip on stock extenders) I would have kept it. Was MOA all day. I’m behind enemy lines in MA now, but hope to be in NH this year. Will absolutely be watching for buying advice. It’s too bad Arsenal has taken such a dive.
In my opinion, parts kits are the way to go
@ - that I know I can swing now. I’ve built a ton of AR’s, but never an AK platform. I’d likely need a build party or to find a pro. Since spinal cancer, my fine motor skills are quite bad 2 years in, but I’m hoping they improve.
why not a mars trigger ?
@@susanmcpeterson1136 I have that too.

I have 5 AR rifles and they all work perfectly and have had no work done to get to work properly should I say anymore...
Sure. Say as much as you like. I’m not sure what your point is. I got a lot more rifles than that and they all work perfectly whether they’ve had work done to them or not.
Lol yeah drop in AK parts are like drop in 1911 parts
@@samsham8218 we do a lot of 1911s at my shop. It’s incredible how many people don’t know how much fitting goes into a properly built 1911.

@@jefferyboring4410 a lot of people don’t know that and a lot of people that are interested in forced reset triggers don’t know that. Go check out the super safety sub Reddit. It’s brutal. A lot of them know nothing about their guns. Think of the demographics buying them.
Thank you i already got scammed with these Ak triggers 400 bucks down the drain. Should have just bought that new meridain trigger
WTF? Who did you buy from? I can definitely guarantee you Alfa and Deez Nuts are not a scam at all. Harrison either. Did you happen to pre-order from trigger Empire? Thats the scam company selling them for that much.
That is an ol school white zombie shirt. Never seen another one. Had Rob Zombie sign mine at ozzfest in 2002 and framed it
I printed one of these and found that my wasr, saiga, and zastava all needed assistance with fitting with shims or required trigger work, most luck I had was with ALG triggers but the guns were prone to running away due to the cam beginning to wear down and being stuck into place or had failures to feed or not getting hung up and not going into battery (especially with the zastava) all in all if you have experience under your belt its a cool little range toy but is very difficult for most people to enjoy due to the 2+ hours of troubleshooting it requires or more depending on knowledge and compatibility. You hit the nail right on the head with your video and hopefully they'll make advancements to the design in the future.
Oh no... not the dremel, dremels and people without the experience is a disaster waiting to happen id say file youd be alot less likely to ruin something with a file

No not anymore. Possible but probably no. @@willthompson9073
Would this possibly be easier with a Milled AK receiver? Possibly more robust. Idk just thinking out loud. 😊
No. Milled or stamped doesnt matter really at all. Itll still need tuning. Those variations will exist brand of receiver to brand. Itll likely be more consistent, but AK receivers in general are a nightmare.
@@KalashKamazsome stamped might have rivets behind those rails which is no good
@ are you talking about the center support or the rivets for the rear trunnion? I have not seen either of them interfere yet.
@ oh yeah, the center support isn’t an issue. Just off the top of my head. The only one I can see maybe even causing an issue at all would be a 100 series rear, but I just did one this weekend and it didn’t interfere. I could see it happening now if the trunnion is not installed correctly.
It would help if you had all the parts, Pete sells an incomplete kit based on what he could steal at the time.. What Kalashkamaz is not telling you is that the Alfa trigger is a bootleg with dimensional issues.
JUST MAKE UR OWN Ak FRT! Buy a parts kit! Do what freedom is 😂
@@KaydBenavides You could certainly do that too. You’d need a lathe and a mill, some round stock and flat bar.

@ That’s cool bro it was meant to be.. I would promote the shit out of AK’s if I worked at a Gun shop lol!
The AK only has a few large robust parts, unlike the Ar15 with lots of little parts. A good AR is a great weapon, but the service life, ease of maintenance and reliability of the AK is definitely better. I don’t care what UA-camrs say. The AK is definitely going to do better if you’re in an adverse environment, and you can’t maintain the thing properly. It’s just common sense.

The dimensions in a cad file are the dimensions whether you print it or cnc it. Whether it comes out to those dimensions as another story, but that’s going to be a variable from equipment to equipment, not the file itself.

I thought those were solid AKs.. why 🤮?
Because Internet. There’s nothing wrong with the damn gun at all. It’s properly built, it’s solid, it’s accurate. I’m not sure what more you want. It ain’t the best thing on the market or nothing but I give credit where credit is due. It’s a good AK. I said pretty explicitly this is sample size of one, but this is a damn good gun.
"All Aks are different". Yeah, no joke ! I have been trying to tell the collective AK community this for decades with varying degrees of success. This applies to just about every part including magazines ...
Can you elaborate on the mag part? Like for example, amound 7.62x39 AK variants which ones are not compatible? I thought they were ALL interchangable...
@@Letmechill4asec between the mag catch and the mag well there are variances. With a 762/545 rifle the worst you’ll find if it’s still usable is just a tight magwell or not enough taken off the mag catch. With a 556 gun you’re really only gonna run into compatibility issues with steel magazines. Some of them are a bit tight but as far as compatibility, there is not a ton of issues. Usually just not enough tuning with the mag well and mag catch. Century is notorious for not cutting their mag catches correctly and having some pretty tight wells. Rifles come in single stack and have to be opened up. This is not true of the pistols like an M92 or mini Beryl.
@KalashKamaz nice.. thanks for this info
@@Letmechill4asec Magazine fitment and function is a magazine by magazine and a rifle by rifle issue. If me and you have rifles from the same factory that are 1 serial number different then what works on my rifle may not work on yours. It’s almost as if it depends on the quantity and quality of the local booze that the builder imbibed that day. One of my rifles detests Bulgarian commercial magazines that the collective hive mind claims are the bees knees. They turned my rifle into an expensive straight pull. I have Polish magazines (Again according to the hive mind, supposedly high quality magazines) that will fit and lock into my mag well, but won’t feed. I have rifles that love Croatian, Tapco, and Promag (supposedly some of the worst, according to the hive mind). My 7.62 rifles run well the Korean KCI 20 round magazines but not the 30. For an upcoming 2gun match I am running a combination of Bosnian A.C. Unity, Zastava Polymer, Magpul, Promag. Listening to the hive mind, I’m not getting past the first stage with those magazines. What you have to do is buy one or two magazines of a particular type and test ‘em hard. If they fit and feed reliably in your rifle then buy more of that type. If not well you now have a small number of drill and dry fire magazines that you didn’t dump a lot of cash into.
@@winkleriedI've seen the hate on Croatian mags, but my AK loves them and the shelved follower that catches the bolt on empty feels at home on the M70
In light of your newly acquired gunsmithing experience, what's your opinion on that Riley? Has it changed since the review you made on the one with wood furniture?
@@Jason-co9ep that’s the same gun! Literally, the only thing I have found is that it doesn’t seem to like certain steel mags. They lock in just a tad bit too high. Could fix it, but I generally use polymer mags anyway to save some weight.
@@KalashKamaz Thanks for the reply and the non-sponsored, no nonsense AK content. Hope your 2025 is awesome!
I'm not an expert gunsmith but I can tell you that most of the riley parts are ok/mediocre but the front trunnion is slightly out of spec.
@ I havent had any huge issues yet. The parts, fine. The front trunnion works. What did you find out of spec?
@@KalashKamaz Specifically the 7.62 krink, the trunnion lugs should be about 90 degrees. so the slope on the bolt can lock in to maintain headspace. so their bolts are to spec but their trunnions are off since the lug on the right side is backswept slight instead of being 90 degrees. In other works it only make contact with one side of the bolt instead of being contacted at a perfect 90 degree angle. The problem is it causes headspace growth, it's the same problem psa has with their front trunnions. psa tries to counter it with the tightest head space they can possibly get. but they end up having the same problem.

Drop in for AK is like bolt on for a car
Oh my God is that the greatest analogy. I wish I would’ve thought of that myself. If you want drop in for an AK, you’re gonna have to spend a lot more time on R&D. With cars, thats why brands like HKS cost a fuckin ton and you STILL may have to do some fitting.
@KalashKamaz right, It may bolt on eventually, but it's going to take some work
@ the work is in motion, it’s just gonna be a second. I’ll be very very pleased when I can talk about that. I think everyone else will too.
I have the Super Safety for my AR15 and much like the AK, it’s not a simple ‘drop-in’. Material removal on the trigger and a different safety detent is essential for proper function. That being said, now that it’s in, it’s been flawless. I know AR to AK is apples to oranges, but you’re smart in alerting people to the need to understand this is anything but drop in.
Thank you! I’m very much looking forward to getting an AR FRT. Im thinking its going in my T91. I love that ridiculous rate of fire with the AR SS.
@ - You’re going to love it. I have the Hoffman Tactical SuperSafety in an 11.3” pistol build my buddies made me for surviving spinal cancer. I wish I could post a pic - it’s so badass. The function has been absolutely flawless. I’m going to buy a complete Bore Buddy .22LR conversion with the SS trip kit. This thing in 22LR is going to be a hootenanny, but as it sits in 5.56, it just makes you laugh endlessly and forget the .48¢ a round - lol. Happy New Year!
@ congratulations on your survival! That’s fantastic to hear. Have you had any luck with those conversion kits? I had a 22 LRAR but it was factory. One of the Walther-Hammerli’s. Unfortunately, I had to sell it to pay for a lawyer.
@ Thanks! Every day above the dirt is a good day! I have an original Ceiner .22 LR kit and while it’s getting long in the tooth, it’s still semi reliable. I have a friend with a CMMG kit and his has been great, though I heard some folks have trouble with them. Bore Buddy is a great site. They have upgrade spring kits for the CMMG and Ciener kits. For $249 + the SS trip, it’s worth it for me to just start over. The spinal cancer left my fingertips numb, so doing intricate work isn’t worth the hassle. My rifle building days are likely over, but no complaints man - I’m still alive.
@ Man, I hate having to sell shit for legal woes. Been there man - I hope it’s all resolved and behind you.

@@KalashKamaz I’ve been looking on Atlantic! What are you mainly running right now ?
@ it’s always a revolving door, honestly. I would say my main guns are my Saiga, M85, and Jack. I’m currently building another WBP. Absolutely fantastic parts kit for new production. Great receivers. Not too much work needs to be done to get them in perfect spec. I do really love the Romanian stuff as well. They are honestly perfect for a KNS piston due to the oversized gas ports. I’m thinking the next kit I get from them is going to be one of the milled Bulgarian kits. There are a lot of great options. I think probably the best deal on there right now for a 762 gun is the WUM1’s. For 74, those Aims kits. They also sell 556 Aims barrels. You just need to find yourself a Beryl bolt.
I dont think a grinder should be used. I think a file works the best so as not to take too much off.
Whatever tool you are comfortable with I think is fine. I guess I said grinder because I’m used to using one at work. Im fine with a grinder but a file or dremel with a sanding bit is totally fine. Especially if you dont use a grinder for hours a day.
