Where did you get the batman cover? Any more videos coming or retired?
Hey mate. Just taking a bit of a breather whilst I reassess. Just painted the batman on with a stencil I made and good quality spray paint. It's actually holding up really well! 🙏
8hrs... worth it... great
Nice theories...you will need triple amount of solar for what you wanna do.
You reckon? I disagree. You sail to the boat you have. It's been absolutely enough so far. I think if I were to sail in the wrong direction in the wrong season then more solar would be advisable. Cheers for the comment
Sometimes those bolts that go through the mast need to be unthreaded with a wrench first and then hammered out and possibly wrenched out again part way through or at the end. The tolerance can be extremely tight where it goes through the mast. I ran into this problem on my masthead fitting. Luckily the mast was down on the ground so gave me opportunity to take my time. Trying to hammer it out would have destroyed the bolt threads or the area around the bolt in the mast. Those holes through the mast i think need to be a very tight and close fit with the bolt so trying to hammer them out may be a bad idea if anyone reads this that is going to attempt to DIY their rigging.
Good insights to a Gusher Bilge Pump installation. My Gusher 25 is corroded but the aluminium housing looks repairable. Do you know if Service Kits are available? I've tried contacting Whale but they must be enjoying the festive season as I haven't heard back! I'm also interested to find out if you considered any alternatives before deciding on the Gusher 30 i.e. apart from the larger dimensions it is also made of aluminium so will likely corrode as well without a lot of attention.
That looks tiny. how big is the battery bank?
400a @ 48v
That would technically make this a lifepo16
Haha correct 👍
Just wanted to add, most newer esk8s, not evolve, when your remote disconnects your just gonna lose breaks, so you can roll to a stop or drag your foot, and your much better off it it has issues, in most cases you just lose power. Also with esk8 you can get lighter or heavier ones, the main thing will be battery, the lighter they are less range your gonna get. On a one wheel there is ghosting, cut outs, nose dives, and if your battery it out of balance it will shut off before it would normally, then normal and chuck you. EUCs fall into the same bucket of it cuts out your done. Also vesc onehweels are better but there a lot of work and a lot more expensive.
Good info, thanks for sharing!
LOL YOU HAVE A BRIDGE TO SELL TO
Free freesbee😂
Nice work!
Thank you! Cheers!
Hay mate when are you doing another vid ?
Not for a bit. They will come again as soon as possible tho 👍
Sir your voice and video is very good i want some information from you if you can provide me I have a boat 40 ft length and 25 ton waight please give me some idea which electric motor is good for my boat please reply thanks
No sorry. I've got 20kW and weigh 10t You might need to look up some calculators
With this information, it seems possible to buy a similar boat, remove the mast, keel, rigging. Then add 5kilowatts of solar which should allow cruising at 3-5 knots indefinitely and power ever thing on the boat. Wow!!
Hola como calibras la wind direction?
Calibrating the minor offset when installing is all done thru the MFD
@@slightadrift Would you be so kind as to explain to me what MFD is?
@ multifunction display. Your chart plotter. I installed my wind about 3 degrees off straight so I just adjust that offset in the chart plotter 👍
Well thought out. Smart move going with a 48v system. Love the cooling plate. I’m having trouble getting to seal the cooling plate I purchased with my motor controller and I’ve since bought one on alibaba which looks roughly like yours but time will tell what dimensions it is when it turns up. There’s a business supplying the cooling plates alone.
Outstanding, extremely detailed explanation of your installation. I've been looking for a something like this for some time now. I'm presently putting a ME1616 motor in my Westsail32. I'm programing the sevcon myself (challenging) and haven't bricked it yet. have you had a chance to motor in rough seas yet, and if so how does she perform?
It’s a bit of a beast, but I'm super happy with the performance! 👍 But battery is the issue so im only motoring in the seas if I loose the rack or something. Hardly ever
Thank you 👍
Appreciate it 🙏
I like it, excellent engineering knowledge with both person
Why not byfocal panel
Not worth the marginal increase in energy
@slightadrift I'm thinking on a boat will do nice reflection off the Waters...
Just found your Chanel. Just bought cal 39 sailboat. I'll do what you did. Thank you. 🎉cheers.
Love it!!
Hola, me gusta tu proyecto, necesito ese kit de cooling para la controladora del motor, donde puedo conseguirlo? thanks
Thunderstruck motors
How are you getting on with the SARCA ? I have a SARCA number 5 and it keeps dragging, especially in a 180 deg wind shift
I've had no problems. Mine is oversized for my boat tho
I like your esk8 content!
Hahahah. Awesome
Listing left maybe the batteries
Hey there, just watched your electric motor install series. I had a lot of questions, but mainly about repairs. If a diesel engine has issues, some research and repair parts should be able to get it back to working. Does that work with an electric motor? I have no experience with electric motors, and am curious how easy it would be to service if it quit the middle of the Atlantic ocean etc. Thanks
The only thing you wood need is spare belts. Electric motors have much less moving parts and way simpler systems. I have done absolutely no servicing in the years that I’ve had this electric motor. You could have a spare throttle sensor that’s already calibrated to your specific system if you were really worried but you should be good 👍 If you were to get an electric motor setup, you’d quickly learn what spares is a good idea to carry… and it’s not many 😊
@@slightadrift Sounds legit, appreciate the reply!
No worries 😊
Has the fan come on? How hot is the new motor?
this is crazy. ive been riding my pintx for the last two years, and i nosedived once, and always feared the top speed since then. I've lived with just cruising arounrd 16km/hr, but always had that need for speed. I ordered the tynee stinger almost a month ago (custom) and its getting here in a couple weeks. So this video is great for me to stumble on! QUESTION for you, do you find it easy to learn an esk8 coming from a onewheel, or is it a whole new thing to learn?
Yeah man! When I came off my one wheel , I thought I must have been going too fast but it was ecu failure. Those electric unicycles have the same thing and they can go SO MUCH FASTER! Eskate: Your balance will definitely translate. I’m sure you’ll be fine. I’ve broken a lot of belts so now I always ride with spares and a tool to change. The eskate has its own dangers BTW. Fastest I’ve been is 45km/h and I had a belt blow at that speed. I felt it go and was fine but at those speeds it did change the boards ergonomics. I think the potential for harm might be greater on the skate because you can go so fast. For this reason I tightened the trucks up a little to be more stable at high speeds, but speed is within your control The only thing I think of that could happen (but never has) is when I’m going down a hill, especially a steep one, and using the board to brake i just think, what if the board was to either shut off or break both belts. Then I’d turn into a cruise missile It’s unlikely…. But so is ecu failure on a onewheel. Something to keep in the back of your mind. Enjoy!
@@slightadrift that’s awesome to hear it will translate over! I’m not a speed demon but I know I will try. I’m gonna definitely tighten up those bushings. And for the belts, I’m glad I did the custom order! Tynee has now released the helical gear drives which eliminates the belts. So I told them to install them for me! But you can order them from the site and they have an installation video on how to do it if you are interested!
Top notch sailing channel! Jealous of your life together! Do ya know any 55+ lady's that are good cooks & would like to see the world?. 😂 P.S. What type of boat is she? I have a 36 Islander. 🗽🇺🇲🙏🤞⛵️🏴☠️

Great video! That coffee machine looks awesome. What brand and type? Always looking for ways to have a cuppa that tastes good while on the boat!
It’s called a robot by cafelat. They’re a bit pricey but I’ve only changed a few silicone gaskets in about 6 years. I’m hoping it’s the last code machine I’ll ever buy. Makes cafe standard coffee 👍

Yup same company . They’re great!

Nice install and cool video!
Thanks mate! I am a subscriber of yours! I’m doing my best to be trimaran for the next boat. Cheers for the comment 🙏
Thanks for sharing. I went electric 4 years ago, have a 550ah bank, but i went induction motor with a curtis controller, which is my only regret. The sevcon seems to be much easier to program with better tools and service, plus a PM motor would have been smaller and more efficient. I've also not been able to get regen to work. Regardless, I actually use the motor more now than I did the old diesel, for all the reasons you say. I have 1.2kw solar, so get unlimited range at about 2 /2.5knts. Trying to find space for more solar to increase that. It's the motor sailing that it really comes into its own though. People just don't realize how great it is, in light winds with a sail up going at 2/3knts and being able to add another 2knts for free!
That’s frickin awesome! Team electric 🙏
Hey, really enjoying your vids. I've also got a 37ft electric sailboat and have been using a carver surfskate as my main transport onland, though anything more than a couple of km and uphill just doesn't cut it. So been debating ebike/skat/scooter. Think you may have sold me on the skate. Out of interest what trucks does it have, could it be worth swapping out the front truck for a surfskate truck to make it more carvy? Also what boat is that, you seem to have so much room for a 36ft.
The trucks are double kingpin. I wouldn’t swap the trucks out for something more carvy, I actually tightened mine up. You need a more stable setup if you want to go at higher speeds. There is no way you’re going 40+ km/h on a surf skate. But, depends what you want the board for I guess. Thanks for the comments mate. My boat is a lavranos 36ft 🍻
I am seriously struggling to find any wall mounted 3kg washing machine in the UK. I was originally looking for a Daewoo Mini but they seem impossible to get. So I was very excited to see this. I followed your link for this one and contacted the supplier. Who was really helpful and gave me a link to their French distributor. But they were 750€. Is that right? Or am I just being a cheapskate 😂j
Wow that’s way too much! If that link is no good keep searching alibaba for a 3kg washer. The dryer part is useless. Look for suppliers that have been operating for the most amount of years then check reviews. I’d say 200£ plus postage is heaps. Hope that helps 🙏
@@slightadrift Awesome. Thanks so much. I’ll keep hunting!
