The Byzantine Choir of the Greek Orthodox Metropolis of Pittsburgh
- established, and blessed into existence in 1998 by His Eminence Metropolitan Maximos (Agiorghoussis), formerly Pittsburgh;
- attached to the Byzantine Music Workshop ("school") of the Greek Orthodox Metropolis of Pittsburgh (Western PA region);
- Directed by Dr. Nikolaos Giannoukakis, Master Cantor and Protopsaltis
About the Choir:
The Byzantine Choir of the Greek Orthodox Metropolis of Pittsburgh consists of chantors of the regional Greek Orthodox parishes as well as those who appreciate Byzantine music. It is the result of a 20+ year effort to introduce Byzantine music in a traditionally-authentic, systematic and academic manner to the region of Western Pennsylvania. The Choir has been invited to perform in support of academic lectures in esteemed US universities and has performed regularly in Western PA offering presentations in Orthodox and sister Christian churches.

Thanks for posting this video. The choir seemed rather serious, possibly because of the ocassion, or perhaps the special guests from Greece and Canada, but that did not detract from the beauty of their combined voices.
