EXTREME TRIM TABS - for all Inflatable Boats (Zodiac), Dinghy or Tender
Faster hole shot time with Maxi Marine Lifters™ detachable high performance trim tabs for inflatable boats (SIB/Roll-up or RIB/RHIB), increase speed and acceleration 25% to 45% and planing weight capacity up to 30%, while decreasing fuel consumption by over 25%. An inflatable boat, dinghy or tender having insufficient outboard motor power or carrying heavy loads can now plane or achieve higher planing speeds. Lifters™ are specifically designed and patented for Zodiac inflatable boat types to yield maximum performance with the following advantages:
• Less drag and far superior performance than hydrofoil devices
• Accelerate and plane quickly without moving weight forward
• Stay aft for safer motor control and boat stays level for comfort
• Reduce proposing, hopping and prop ventilation at high speeds
• Plane faster on top of big waves with a smooth cushioned ride
• In rough seas or large swells plane slower for more comfort
• Carry weight aft for greater stability and speed with less spray
• Execute tighter turns while maintaining speed and control
• Eliminate transom engine torquing for more in-line power
• Spray plate eliminates lower unit spray and transom dousings
• Maintain proper engine RPM for less deposits and plug fowling
• Large motors turn freely with partial horizontal swiveling
• Reduce transom turbulence and drag when trolling or rowing
• Control trolling speed for Salmon, Kingfish and Bass fishing
• Maintain planing at 5 mph/knots in a low speed zone
• Increase boat's traveling range while saving on fuel
• Less wake and better transitional speed control
• Less drag when towing empty boat and with motor
• Won't snag on kelp or weeds like hydrofoil devices
• Counteract towline torque for fast controlled towing
• Won't affect boat or motor storage like other devices
• Automatic self leveling active-angle suspension™
• Faster hole shot acceleration and nearly zero bow rise
• Simple to install and attach or detach in seconds
• Works with wood, aluminum or air floor, all roll-ups
• Can be left in the water and growth wipes right off
• Made of unbreakable UV resistant polypropylene
• Corrosion resistant stainless steel hardware
• Will work with inflatable boat launching wheels
• Used as skids to drag up sandy beaches

      We appreciate your concern, but this mooring field is completely open on one side to the ocean's waves and swells. Also, large 50 ton fishing trawlers and tour boats cut through this mooring field as we did within the speed requirements of the "speed zone", generating larger wakes throughout the day. We know because we have one of our 40ft boats moored in the field.

The boat's bottom is quite different (with Zodiac's "speed tubes") and I'm wondering if the lifters work with these speed tubes. Has anyone tried this configuration?

      That's understandable, and we're planning on a shoot this Spring which will compare various inflatable boats/motors before and after. Although, I should mention if you have a similar boat as in this video you'll know that without someone sent forward, the bow will rise making it difficult to get onto plane and reduce the acceleration by more then half.

    • @VBones23
      @VBones23 6 років тому

      Yeah, with a 40hp engine I'd imagine some bow rise out of the gate, it's just hard to gauge the improvement here. Also, I have a RIB 330 fiberglass hull with a 15HP Yamaha and I've experience most of the issues when I'm near the maximum weight range (4ppl), so it would be cool to see that tested as well.

    • @Maxi_Marine
      @Maxi_Marine 6 років тому

      Some RIBs also have more of an issue depending on the location of the console and gas tank, the gas can also shift aft on long bilge tanks, if not full. We'll try testing with different weight configurations and maximum planing weight.

    I think a Dolphin would be cheaper and more effective/stability.

    • @Maxi_Marine
      @Maxi_Marine 7 років тому

      As mentioned in our other video. We have tested with the Dolfin and found that it can help, but hydrofoil stabilizers provide less lift during acceleration and more lift/drag at high speeds when unnecessary, and reduce top end speed by 1-3 knots. On larger boats you have to keep changing the motor tilt trim at different speeds. They also lift on the motor below the waterline and middle of the boat which can contribute to instability at high speeds in wavy conditions. Granted they are a little less expensive but they have about one fourth the area.

  • @raydownes3289
    @raydownes3289 7 років тому

    • @Maxi_Marine
      @Maxi_Marine 7 років тому

      Good question, they can work on inflatable catamarans but we haven't done enough testing to recommend it. For now, "all inflatable boats" refers to the most common generic monohull "Zodiac inflatable boat types", as in the video and description.

  • @Josef_R

    You say they detach easily? Where can I see this? I'm buying a Zodiac Zoom Aero and I need to know that this won't interfere with packing the boat away. Also, can they be adjusted to help balance the weight of a solo person sitting on one tube?

    • @Maxi_Marine
      @Maxi_Marine 7 років тому

      Each trim tab attaches and detaches from a quick release bottom bracket and top thumb nut attachment, which remain on the transom and won't interfere with the stowage of a roll-up inflatable. The fixed angle of each tab can be adjusted with the placement of the top thumb nut, and they automatically adjust their angle to changes in speed and waves instantaneous. We will be posting videos that show the installation and operation of the trim tabs on various inflatable boats.

    • @Maxi_Marine
      @Maxi_Marine 7 років тому

      Hi, Generally RIBs longer then 5m (16ft) don't benefit as much. They have less of an imbalance because the relative weight of the motor or crew aft is less compared to the weight of the boat. Also, our Lifters™ product is only rated for a maximum of 60 horse power.

    I USE WALKER BAY 10 FT DINGHY + 9.8 OUTBOARD (26KG) the problem is stern down THIS DINGHY IS A DISPLACEMENT HULL NOT PLANNING HULL Will it work?

    • @Maxi_Marine
      @Maxi_Marine 7 років тому

      As you mentioned the Walker Bay 10 ft dinghy is a displacement hull which has a curved bottom (vs a flat bottom) which is built for greater efficiency at lower speeds and unable to plane or go much beyond it's "hull speed*". Extending the hull's length with the trim tabs would increase it's "hull speed*" a small amount (as a longer displacement hull), but wouldn't give it the capability to plane at higher speeds. *Hull speed is expressed as 1.34 X the square root of LWL, or length of waterline of the boat.

    These are great!! I just installed these on a 10'4" Achilles HB315LX, with a 9.8 hp 2 stroke Nissan ... absolutely amazing. Tows better in all seas behind my 40' ketch. The dinghy just lifts up and planes no squatting in the stern now. Also the annoying transom splash while motoring (design defect of achilles ribs) is gone the planes deflect it all away, which is so awesome.These trim tabs remove for storage in two minutes or less, so you do not have to leave them on or bottom paint them. The upper mount of each plane went right up against the plastic transom motor pad on the out side I used the top hole, I didnt have to drill through the aluminum motor mount on the inside of the transom. Very close though. (the two 1/4" x 2"machine screws were not long enough to go through the transon , just go to West Marine and get wing nuts too, to go with them) Achilles ribs have an extreme deep V at the transom, so this almost was an issue. I did drill an extra mounting hole for the lower planes' tube to attach to, about 1-1/2 holes further aft. No biggie. Template included was useless, for my application. You really have to hold them up on the dinghy and decide where to drill, and what angle of deflection you want. It helps if you are a pro boat guy like me.. also do not mount them to far outboard or they will rub on the tubes of the dinghy and eventually rub a hole... you can see in this video they are touching!! These are awesome, they are NOT too big and make your dinghy feel two sizes bigger, and your smaller motor as well. They are very reasonably priced, and an excellent addition to any planing inflatable dinghy ! Buy them!!!

    • @Maxi_Marine
      @Maxi_Marine 8 років тому

      Thank you for your comment. We are glad to hear that the trim tabs work well on your 10'4" Achilles with 9.8 hp motor. I should take this opportunity to mentioned that the trim tabs will fit inflatable boats 7-16 ft in length with all motors under 60 hp. We also have an 800 phone line and email support for anyone that needs help with an unusual installation or has any questions or just needs help with a standard installation. Most installations are easy and straight forward. We sometimes have customers that are concerned that the installation of the tabs far outboard up against the tubes will rub and wear a hole in the tubes. Although, from our experience and that of thousands of customers over a period of more than 15 years, we have never had or heard of any incident of wear, or a hole in the tubes. This is mostly because the water acts as a lubricant between the rounded tabs and tubes, and having the tabs against the tubes does reduce spray and improve their performance. Again, thanks for taking the time to post a detailed comment with great feedback! We also welcome anyone that has any questions to post them. Thank you, Maxi Marine
