Many versions also urge a sibling or parents and children to avoid the same fate. The most successful commercial version, recorded in 1964 by the British rock band The Animals, was a number one hit on the UK S...

Two weeks ago, while recovering from minor surgery in a Kenyan hospital bed, the most harrowing outburst of cries suddenly erupted from the courtyard below. The emotion behind these cries was unmistakable - clearly this person had just received the most dreaded news one can ever receive. Almost certainly, I thought, she'd just been informed of the loss of a dearly loved one. Was it her life's p...

THE AMAZING DRUMMERS OF BURUNDI. Jacinta, Mubasu and I happened to be at the National Museum of Kenya in Nairobi when these absolutely amazing drummers suddenly appeared and performed. I love deep drums. When I lived in Ethiopia I adored the similar sound produced by a traditional drum called the kebero. But I must say, I have never heard or witnessed anything quite as dazzling as this. And Mub...

Without going into too many specifics, it's been a difficult year in this respect, and my deepest thoughts are with each and ever...

Thank you - Amaseganalho my dear friend!
i love it so much❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤

"The House of the Rising Sun" is a traditional folk song, sometimes called "Rising Sun Blues," tells of a person's life gone wrong in the city of New Orleans. Although this ballad was first collected in Appalachia in the 1930s, its roots might well be traced back to 16th-century England. This 1933 Tom Clarence Ashley Gwen Foster rendition is the first recorded version. ua-cam.com/video/fYFHg1cCu20/v-deo.htmlsi=G2gxgKqDyLPLrSib

I'll Be Home for Christmas" is a Christmas song written by the lyricist Kim Gannon and composer Walter Kent and recorded in 1943 by Bing Crosby, who scored a top ten hit with the song. Originally written to honor soldiers overseas who longed to be home at Christmas time, "I'll Be Home for Christmas" has since gone on to become a Christmas standard.

"When I'm Sixty-Four" Cover of the US sheet music for the song Song by the Beatles from the album Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band Released 26 May 1967[1] Recorded 6-21 December 1966 Studio EMI, London Genre Pop[2] music hall[3] vaudeville[4] Length 2:37 Label Parlophone Songwriter(s) Lennon-McCartney Producer(s) George Martin "When I'm Sixty-Four" is a song by the English rock band The Beatles, written by Paul McCartney[5][6] (credited to Lennon-McCartney) and released on their 1967 album Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band. McCartney wrote the song when he was about 14, probably in April or May 1956, and it was one of the first songs he ever wrote. The song was recorded in a key different from the final recording; it was sped up at the request of McCartney to make his voice sound younger. It prominently features a trio of clarinets (two B♭ clarinets and one bass clarinet) throughout.
Cat's In The Cradle Lyrics by Sandy & Harry Chapin My child arrived just the other day He came to the world in the usual way But there were planes to catch and bills to pay He learned to walk while I was away And he was talkin' 'fore I knew it, and as he grew He'd say, "I'm gonna be like you, Dad You know I'm gonna be like you" And the cat's in the cradle and the silver spoon Little boy blue and the man on the moon "When you comin' home, Dad?" "I don't know when, but we'll get together then You know we'll have a good time then" My son turned ten just the other day He said, "Thanks for the ball, Dad, come on let's play Can you teach me to throw?" I said, "Not today I got a lot to do." He said, "That's okay" And he walked away but his smile never dimmed It said, "I'm gonna be like him, yeah You know I'm gonna be like him" And the cat's in the cradle and the silver spoon Little boy blue and the man on the moon "When you comin' home, Dad?" "I don't know when, but we'll get together then You know we'll have a good time then"[Verse 3] Well, he came from college just the other day So much like a man I just had to say "Son, I'm proud of you, can you sit for a while?" He shook his head and he said with a smile "What I'd really like, Dad, is to borrow the car keys See you later, can I have them please?" And the cat's in the cradle and the silver spoon Little boy blue and the man on the moon "When you comin' home, son?" "I don't know when, but we'll get together then, Dad You know we'll have a good time then" I've long since retired, my son's moved away I called him up just the other day I said, "I'd like to see you if you don't mind" He said, "I'd love to, Dad, if I can find the time You see my new job's a hassle and the kids have the flu But it's sure nice talking to you, Dad It's been sure nice talking to you" And as I hung up the phone it occurred to me He'd grown up just like me My boy was just like meAnd the cat's in the cradle and the silver spoon Little boy blue and the man on the moon "When you comin' home, son?" "I don't know when, but we'll get together then, Dad We're gonna have a good time then" And the cat's in the cradle and the silver spoon Little boy blue and the man on the moon "When you comin' home, son?" "I don't know when, but we'll get together then, Dad You know we'll have a good time then"

Something which I still don't get, after so much contemplation, is Robespierre's belief that Virtue is achieved through terror.
5) THE FALL, also known as the Thermidorian Reaction Not simply had Robespierre's Committee For Public Safety set out to abolish the monarchal system, but they were on a mission moreover to fundamentally and thoroughly reform all of France's institutions - at the very core of which, the Catholic Church was to be tolerated only under heavy state regulation so strict that it was effectively relegated to irrelevancy. Every aspect of societal existence, every foundation belief, even the very concept of time was to be reinvented. No longer would the French count their years according to the Georgian calendars biblio-centric starting point, but instead from what the founding fathers proclaimed to be the 'Era of Liberty.' 1792 had become Year 1. Months, weeks, days, minutes, even seconds had, by order of the National Convention, to be re-constructed. 'Reality' itself was to be reinvented.
LIBERTÉ, ÉGALITÉ et BÊTISER! Au Canard Agile's Annual Duke Ellington Day Celebration (after-party). Please take no offence by the insertion of Bêtiser instead of Fraternité as it is to reflect upon my own bêtiser and not that of France, country for which I have nothing but love! And in this spirit, I "perform" on an accordion built with my own two hands which, while appearing quite functional, is in fact merely a flayful prop made specifically for this occasion. Although the die-hard after-party audience, made up mostly of a handful of faithful friends, knew full well that the music was coming from a small bluetooth speaker inserted into the prop, they seemed to fully appreciate the theatricality of the moment nevertheless. The actual accordionist is the very talented and acclaimed Weitao Ren.

Bruce attempts to sing A Foggy Day (in London Town) in the style of the acclaimed Michel Boublé.
After a fun but long and tiring evening, the last guest finally went home, and so to unwind I picked up my $12 Yamaha SS220 chromatic harmonica, when out of the blue (hahaha), All Blues from Miles' Kind of Blue album sprang up most fortuitously on the radio. My little point-and-shoot Panasonic camera was sitting right there, and so I flipped it on. Sincere thanks (as well as apologies) to Julian "Cannonball" Adderley (alto sax), John Coltrane (tenor sax), Bill Evans (piano), Paul Chambers (double bass), Jimmy Cobb (drums), and of course Mr. Davis on trumpet.
From Britannica: Honoré Daumier, in full Honoré-Victorin Daumier, (born February 20/26, 1808, Marseille, France-died February 11, 1879, Valmondois), prolific French caricaturist, painter, and sculptor especially renowned for his cartoons and drawings satirizing 19th-century French politics and society. His paintings, though hardly known during his lifetime, helped introduce techniques of Impressionism into modern art.
I'd literally just completed the upright bass using a total of $12 worth of materials including: PVC pipe, 1/8th" plywood, glue, varnish, and laundry-line rope in lieu of genuine bass strings. "Literally just built" isn't an exaggeration, as the glue and varnish hadn't yet thoroughly dried, and dripped down my fingers as I played it here for the very first time (January 28th). And here I must confess that neither I or my upright bass have the skill or capacity to produce quite such a lovely sound as this, and so forgive me for using a melody, which I found on the internet by a wonderful musician named Craig Akin. Here is Craig's original recording: ua-cam.com/video/cvJZLSsC88Y/v-deo.html This video was shot all in one take with a Lumix point & shoot camera, which it typically how I like to create because multiple takes tend to erode the all valuable sense of spontaneity.

ONE - Lyrics Is it getting better? Or do you feel the same? Will it make it easier on you now? You got someone to blame You say, one love, one life When it's one need in the night One love, we get to share it Leaves you baby if you don't care for it Did I disappoint you? Or leave a bad taste in your mouth? You act like you never had love And you want me to go without Well it's too late tonight To drag the past out into the light We're one but we're not the same We get to carry each other, carry each other One! Have you come here for forgiveness? Have you come to raise the dead? Have you come here to play Jesus? To the lepers in your head Did I ask too much? More than a lot You gave me nothin' now it's all I got We're one but we're not the same Well we hurt each other then we do it again You say love is a temple, love a higher law Love is a temple, love the higher law You ask me to enter but then you make me crawl And I can't be holdin' on to what you got When all you got is hurt One love, one blood One life, you got to do what you should One life, with each other Sisters, brothers One life but we're not the same We get to carry each other, carry each other One One Source: Musixmatch Songwriters: Paul David Hewson / Adam Clayton / Larry Mullen / Dave Evans

ROBESPIERRE's Early Years Excerpt from Bruce Strachan's 2020 Nairobi Boathouse presentation: ROBESPIERRE And His Road To Hell - - - Early Years It cannot be said with complete accurately that Maxamillian Robespierre was a disadvantaged child - indeed the de Robespierre family were, for generations, members of Arras’ respectable middle-class establishment, but he did encounter some rather serious struggles early in life. His mother died during childbirth when he was but six, and his father, incapable of raising the four children on his own, sent the two daughters Charlotte and Henriette to be raised my maternal aunts while Maxim and brother Augustin were sent to be raised by their maternal grandparents. Robespierre nevertheless, overcame those setbacks, and through his keen natural intellect, resolute diligence and Spartan self-discipline, was awarded a scholarship to Lycée Louis le Grand - the most prominent secondary school in France. There he achieved academic excellence, and as a result - and in what is surely one of France’s most supremely ironic historical encounters, was selected from among hundreds of pupils to deliver ceremonial complements to King Louis XVI and Marie Antoinette on the day of their coronation. Now, it is reported to’ve rained on that day and, as the soggy 17-year-old Robespierre delivered his eloquent praises, the freshly crowned monarchs failed even to emerge to receive them - choosing instead, to remain within the comforts of their gilded carriage. It’s impossible of course to assess how this humiliation would’ve impacted upon on the young Robespierre. Or if it might indeed have planted a bitter seed. Nevertheless, the symbolism is powerful, and we can assume that his years within Lycée Louis Le Grande's elite microcosm might well have, to some degree, helped to form his ensuing convictions.
The theme for Pierre's bon voyage party was Juke Joint Jam & Honky Tonk Romp. And by golly, as fate would have it, the Wheel of Fortune determined that I'd have to attempt to sing the great Hank Williams' So Lonesome I Could Cry. Well Hiram (better known as Hank), in your honour, I did my best! Special thanks to all who attended, and better yet, who got up and participated - even if that meant no more than throwing a few rotten tomatoes at the performers! Truly wonderful work.
Nothing easy about digging.
PROMOTING HABITAT DIVERSITY IN ONE'S GARDEN When I was a boy, my mom, who was quite the amateur gardener and landscaper, built a small 200 litre goldfish pond in the backyard of our suburban New York home - which we children all loved and marvelled at. And I guess it left a lasting impression on me, because I’ve always felt that it’s essential to have a water feature of some sort, no matter how small, in one’s garden. Particularly as they invite a whole host of habitat diversity. And then somewhat unexpectedly and in contradiction to the weather report, the rains suddenly appeared and my gaping hole was then filled, almost instantly, with water, and life. With these unanticipated rains however, the game has changed. I’ll no longer be able to install the pump as planned. But that’s quite okay - because it forces me to rethink things outside the box. How - without an electrical pump, will I be able to transmit the pond’s dirty water up one meter, to the bio-filter so that it may return back into the pond clean and healthy? And then I had a eureka moment! (click on ‘Shadoof' at the end of this video to find the solution)
Very well done! Thank you for caring for the environment!
