Such a beautiful melody for a beautiful and sunny day today August 22, 2024.

First of all, I would like to thank V Horror UA-cam channel for uploading the full movie back in December 2022. I watched it when it was newly released in 1980 but suddenly out of nowhere it popped into my consciousness this August 2024 and I was able to watch it again last August 12. After 44 years, the melody of the Music Box is still so beautiful, indeed like a lullaby.

The Benedictus is more than just a composition - it is heavenly.

This theme will stick with me my entire life, and if that isn't the sign of an amazing composition then nothing is.

This is the only part of the short film I've ever seen as a young child taken from the 1992 VHS Children's TV Favourites Volume 2. That VHS tape is as old as I am.

Love both Queen and Howard Blake's albums from "Flash Gordon" As much as listened it a hundred of times the Queen album I always was bummed about not gettting Blake's complete score. Luckily, one day I found it on a cd store and make me happier than ever. Its that cd behind him. Awesome stuff he did on just 3 weeks, incredible. The way both musics melted together in the movie perfectly is totally outstanding. I hope some day a 2 cd album would be released with every single track from the film (both Queen and Blake's) in proper order. Mr Blake is a very talented composer, I just listened this morning his score for a lil film called "An Elephant Called Slowly" and it was a total delight.

Absolutely stunning atmospheric film. Sublime music. Shows the aftermath of war on its participants as well as the families back home. 10 out of 10.

Highly recommended.

I watched it first run in our local theater. Got the DVD.

I still think the Flash soundtrack is generally overlooked because of the movie's comic book simplicity, I'd take it over all the other superhero movies for it's sheer propulsive joy.

The most (IMO) violent Tara King fight scene was in this episode. In fact, I think Tara in the Optics factory was the most violent fight scene in the entire series. Tara ( my personal favorite Avenger girl), more than " held her own"! However, it was Laugh In that took out the series, not the violence.

What a gift this is! Howard Blake show us that simplicity is a great virtue. His music is first & foremost direct melody expertly arranged & developed. I love all of Blake's music, I hope for this piano music to be commercially released, & I look forward to more works from this fine composer--perhaps another symphony?

If this is Op. 432 (Feb. 1992), why does the score in the video identify it as Op. 334 (1984)? And how can the recording be from 3- & 4 March 1991? This appears to be the piano-and-orchestra version (Op. 334) of his Concert Dances for 2 Pianos, Op. 271, and not the later orchestration of the latter (Op. 432). Please confirm. SOMM will soon release a CD of "Op. 432", but the excerpts online sound like this recording.

Terribly interesting. Loved his work on The Avengers. Sounds like the story of the producer of Space 1999 having her son do a score for an episode and booking a full orchestra to record it. He to showed up with nothing on paper to work from. Composer Barry Grey was also able to save the day. Many thx for posting!

Loved the first movement. The last movement left me feeling sad. I understand that this piece was written for a short film. I really wish we could hear the music's context and see it in the film.❤

This group has been singing in the Netherlands, a tour in the 80 years. I got really love for singing by this outstanding group. I still feel honoured that they were staying at our home for one or two days during that tour. I still love their music and of course from this composer!
