Issue with this car was that water was leaking from the rear of the car and running down the back of the rear seats soaking the carpets. The drain pipes were cleaned but water was dripping from the water channel that runs from the panoramic sunroof and connects to the rear drain pipe. After investigation the drain pipe which is located under the panoramic sunroof seal was damaged and needed rep...

Ford Focus Heater matrix leak issue fixed
Переглядів 14 тис.Рік тому
Ford focus 2012 had a coolant leak issue where all the coolant was leaking into the driver side footwell. Upon investigation, the coolant was actually leaking from the heater matrix pipe joints. Two new O rings were replaced and the issue resolved. Thanks for watching.
BMW E90 Water in the battery compartment
Переглядів 25 тис.4 роки тому
This video is about water entering the rear sections of the car, specifically both right and left hand side corners where the battery is situated and the amp/cd changer. Also the back seat is wet too. I explain how I removed all the water and where you can find the grommets to check and remove the water. I had the airbag and seatbelt warning light come on and the backseats being wet which start...
Porsche 944 S2 Sunroof cable issues
Переглядів 1,7 тис.4 роки тому
This video is about the actual cable that runs inside the metal tubing that runs along from the motor to the 2 sunroof plastic gears. There is a black connector in the boot that connects two pieces of the metal tube together. My black connector failed and the two metal tubing came apart. When operating the sunroof the cable would come out of the tubing and gather in the boot because of the sepa...
Great video, thank you for providing the genuine part number. I have a question what is the size dimensions of the O rings? Also what material is it made from? Im in Australia and ford Australia apparently doesn't have the part number in there system, can't seem to find any info until I stumbled upon your video. Don't feel like replacing the heater core with the revised unit and pull out the dash.
@@Adam-wo3cc sorry, I don’t have the dimensions. Ask Ford in your area what part your are looking for and they should have this. Don’t reference to the UK part.
@kwikmechanic6844 as I stated above ford Australia doesn't have that part or a part number for it, apparently. They only have the new revised heater core, which means dash out, I'm not pulling the dash out. I've found the O rings here with that part number, will let you know how it is goes. Cheers
@@Adam-wo3ccanother Aussie here with possibly the same issue with our Focus. I read on another video that the o ring part # is 1342708 being an 18mm bore and 2mm cross section. Pipe clip (if necessary) is part # 145337.
How did you separate the pipes?
👍 Waiting on new battery to swap later today so thanks for this video. Have noticed on the three US videos of the same car that they don’t have the battery sensor fitted.
@@mr.b.4048 if you don’t have the sensor fitted then you’re fine and it’s a simple swap out of the battery as normal.
@@kwikmechanic6844swapped out the batteries but there didn’t seem to be any way to disconnecting the sensor. Everything worked as your VT except I am still getting the Battery Management warning and back to orange flashing i-stop after it went to green. I would be obliged if you can advise on disconnection of the sensor as the only thing that moved was a grey wedge shaped locking? clip.
@@mr.b.4048 when you slide the grey clip, you have to then press it and while pressed pulled the sensor out.
@@kwikmechanic6844 - 👍 thanks. Subzero and dark now so I will repeat it tomorrow.
blimey what a palaver, I started with a totally dead battery, so I guess I begin from hooking up the battery without sensor? It would have been cool if you had shown how the sensor unplugs.
I’ve been chasing a leak into my cd changer bay for 12 months now. Replaced rear window seal but since the recent downpours it has started to fill again. Gonna check out these locations over the weekend. Thanks for the heads up. 👍
My CD Changer was also full with water, i dont find the leak and it freaks me out.
Great stuff
If my mazda doesn't have the negative sensor, am I free from headache?
@@bartizq then that means you don’t have a start stop car do you? If so then you are free from a lot of headaches 😂
@@kwikmechanic6844 there was a sensor there just didn't noticed it on the first glance. I've followed this procedure, don't think I did it right. And certain lights were already on the dash because my battery was weak. Car drives fine. Didn't really had to fiddle with Istop after replacing the battery so all good so far. Radio stations were wiped, I haven't checked the sat na, but everything else stayed the same it seems. Thanks for the vid!
@@bartizq after few hundred km of driving your batteri and istop lights will disappear.
Great video, thanks. Do you have video in more detail about how to take the trims off? Thanks
Were the back seats wet as well or did you only notice it when taking off the rear seats? I got the same issues with water in the battery compartment in my e91. Can't figure it out where its coming from.
@@t.t.599 back seats were wet as well.
Same problem, car turns over but won’t start. Water in the battery bay, ground cable corroded off all together, full things getting stripped out and new cables and battery. What a nightmare 🤣
@@FatmanconNthem sorry to hear that, it’s crazy how that water collects in that area.
great video with an excellent explanation, thanks
How long would the labour be for a garage mechanic to do this job. I think this is the same problem the focus I’ve got is having. Red oily liquid in the drivers footwell.
1-2 hour max
@@kwikmechanic6844 brilliant, cheers for replying mate
Thanks, i'm trying to make contact but not getting through to you.
@@markwatson2814 hi
@@kwikmechanic6844 hello there?
the o ring actually goes inside the pipe not on top this is a incorrect fix
It doesn’t go inside the pipe, if you placed the o ring inside the pipe that doesn’t make sense. The o ring goes around the outer edge of the pipe or can go on top of the lip of the pipe.
I thought the same. The o ring going into the female end of the pipe on the in side. There is a groove in there where the ring sits
Hi im just wondering was the front window flogging up and a smell of coolant
Yes
Hi , amazing video, very helpful . Thank you. How easy it is to remove the bottom trim panel? Does it need to remove other trims near gear rod to take the bottom trim?
It’s very simple and clips off, if I remember correctly.
@@kwikmechanic6844 great, thanks for reply. Could able to manage to remove and repair and it worked.
Thank you for the knowledge!
Thank you very very much for your answer and this informative video !!
How much time does it take to do that ?
Around 4-5 hours
Spot on video man, very helpfull for all e90 owners including myself. Thank you
hey man, my wires were so corroded to the point where they fell of. my car started tweaking out electrically and popping out of gear. (i have the dct). i opened the battery compartment and it was full of water. can i replace the mounting points for the cables on the bottom? or is that non replaceable? because mine look too corroded for save.
Hi, yes you can replace the cables. There is a cable that runs from the battery compartment and then inside the car up to the engine bay. If you’re referring to that point then the whole cable will need to changed if you don’t have a crimping tool. Otherwise you can crimp a new end on.
I thought my battery was going bad then I buy a $220 battery and was gonna put it in until I noticed that I needed to buy a new positive terminal cable only 🤦🏻♂️ the cable got all corroded
Make sure the connections are all clean. It’s a common problem and needs attention
Waw I have the cable damege plus my battery has an hole downside submerge by water. Thank you for this it helped understand the cause of this problem
whatafak. whatafak_fr.png
You saved me!!! ❤ Thank you for documenting this.
Thanks so much!!! The car was fine this morning going to work, when I got off, she wouldn't start. Attached a jumper to the front terminals, still won't turn over, then I looked at the battery compartment, just as you described, dry walls, but filled with water. Took an Uber home as I'll deal with this tomorrow!!! Thanks!!!
HEY HAD THE SAME PROBLEM! DID U FIND TJE FIX??
Yes. i took out the battery. Took out the rubber drain plugs and Dried out the rain water from the compartment . Now its running again.
@@TamNguyen-ng1kw did you have any corrosion problems with the wires? everything of mine was corroded down there
@@guccijayy2033 No Corrosion . Only water.
I had the same problem water was more on my amplifier side my battery only had a bit not alot what i did was cleaned the water and lifted the amp more up since its in the bottom if more water builds up its lifted so when it rains ima be checking on it alot but my speakers dont work
Just changed battery noticed water under it. Not as much as yours. This vid saving me a lot of time I'll know what to do soon to resolve the issue 👌
what's the part number for those tubes and how much labor did it take in hours? having the same issue LHD 07 Targa 4S
Shouldn’t take more than 4 hours. You should be able to find the part number online. I don’t have it to hand. It’s not a tube, it’s the seal that sits around the edge of the targa roof that comes with the tubes to allow water to drain away.
I'm sure o ring doesn't slide onto pipe but sits inside the heater matrix side
Oh my goodness thank you, discovered battery was partially submerged in water and shorting out, rest of trunk was completely dry like yours, what a joy it is to be a BMW owner...
Great video, same issue with my e90 and the battery cable snapped off. Did you put the rubber bungs back into the chassis??
Thanks, yes I put the rubber bungs back on
did you have problems with the parts that the battery cable mount to? those are corroded for me and i don’t know if i can change them or not
Silly question but how do you clean the black air bag cable ?
Isopropyl alcohol
@kwikmechanic6844 thank you for the reply, think I'm ah ing the same issue. Water all around the battery etc. Cleaned and dried the area. Cleared the fault but still have the warning lights so I'm at a loss
@@pennysniffer2348 check the faults what are they saying or referring to? You may need to replace the cables if they have been damaged by the waters
What a helpful video, very clear what to do just hope the clamps come off easy , I’m doing this tomorrow. Thanks for your help
How did you get on?
Good info but very long winded. I think you can explain eveeything a lot quicker
Great video Thankyou got exactly the same problem on a customers car
How to fix it?
To make matters worst they saying my fuel pump is ruined because of the water my warranty won’t cover anything from water damage 2015 528xi this is absolutely ridiculous
Sorry to read that. I hope you get things resolved soon.
This is happening to my 528xi 😢 The dealership saying they have to do a water test $380
For the focus mk3 ecoboost 1L Turbo, would it be the same procedure? I’ve got the exact same issue with coolant leaking on to the driver footwell.
Yes, it should be the same. Check under the footwell and compare it with the video. I don’t think it will be any different . Have a look and if you see the pipes, run your fingers over it and you should have your answer
How did you get the water out of the battery compartment ?
Thanks for the video. I had another problem, the car stunk of diesel, airbag and seatbelt lights showing same as you on the dash. It was diesel, not water in the battery well. Same as you, removed battery, there was diesel about 1/2 inch up the battery, connections all covered with diesel. In the process of drying all out, to try and find leak. I reckon it's coming from breather pipe, and leaking down the inside of the wheel arch. Will test tomorrow. Punched out the plastic grommet at the bottom, so at least it won't fill again.
That sounds worse than the water. Hope you fix it soon.
My wife's Focus has always had a coolant smell since almost new. Could never find the cause. It properly let go the other day and I just pulled these o rings this morning: and there it is. Not a bad job, and better than a head gasket.
Well done. Amazing how these simple things can cause havoc. You could question whether this is actually a bad design.
@Kwik Mechanic As a mechanic by trade, yes, I do wonder at the unnecessary levels of complexity. Interestingly Honda in the late 80s realised their cars had grown so complicated that maintenance costs were killing the resale value and went all out on simplicity in the mid 90s. The result was startling.
lol.. thanks for the vid. maybe the fish tank option was added, since its not easy to make water not drain out, out of a metal frame :D :D

This helped me. Thank you!
Excellent video. Very helpful!! Keep up the good work.
Thanks for the video - very helpful. I had watery sloshing noises from around the rear seats, and water seeping up into the underlay under the rear seats. No water in the battery compartment as far as I could see, but once I took out all the trim (same as in the video) I found there was a bit of pooled water in the compartment on the other side, where I guess the CD changer would go. Mine's a later LCI E90 (build date Feb 2010) but the holes under the car are in about the same place. A fair bit of water came out when I removed the bungs, and there's been no sloshing in the week since, despite rain. So looking good. The gap highlighted at ~4'00" looks like it's welded shut on mine, but there's no shortage of other gaps for water to potentially get in and slowly build up. (I haven't replaced any of the seals on mine. I'll see how it goes.)
