have you ever updated your Garmin where it freaked out and you had to reset an ignore the update feature

How long did it take for the screen to go out ? I’ve discovered that if one leaves the radio turned off, the screen won’t heat up and fade out.

I have one and when I tested it the TX audio seemed really low, So I opened up the mic and I found a small circular bit of card stuck right over the opening of the mic element, I removed it and audio increased significantly, Why on earth did they put that bit of card there ?

agree... mine developed the same prob... not happy, the ver first thing that preceded the display going out was the radio not turning on, I had to turn the switch on & off a few times til it came on... high priced junk !

Thank you sir. You are a life saver. Literally just happened to me right now for the first time ever. I don't have a kill switch but I turned on and off the green button in the sleeper waited for 5 minutes and it turned on. Thank you again 🙏🏾

Ending was hilarious XD but yes these new safety features are hot garbage. lane departure triggers for merging on ramps every day. speed limit reader tells me the interstate speed limit is 35 and wants to jake break me. collision is little more useful but very rarely because a good driver wouldnt be in those situations, and then again it could trigger for false alarms!!!

It’s a bad headlight switch. Sounds weird but that’s the problem.

Even back in the 1980's/1990's Uniden had a problem in the PRO-540e and PRO-640e radios where too much voltage was going to the display and burning out the LED signal strength meter and channel number display. It was a design flaw, new from the factory. It makes me wonder if these radios have too much voltage going somewhere it shouldn't be, too, and just burning things out. People here are saying keep it out of the sunlight, well, the radios on display in the store aren't in sunlight (or heat for that matter), so it has to be something else. I'd suggest if you get one of these radios to not turn the display to full brightness and run it that way. I'd turn it down lower, but where you can see the display still. CB Radio Magazine even did an article on the PRO-640e getting too much display voltage (with pictures) if you're interested in reading it. Even the newer Cobra 29LX likes to give people an SWR warning when the swr isn't too high - from what people have been saying. I just don't like the newer radios. To me, the older CB's are the way to go!

Can you connect this to your Garmin ELD?

Had an 880 in my 2013 Wrangler for over 10yrs until i traded it in this past February. Worked great & no washed out display. 980 in my Bronco has been great so far, tho it seems harder to see (right outta the box) in day mode so i just keep it in night mode....works great.

It seems like such a vision blocker. Can you comment on that. I'm torn between the 8 and 10 inch for that reason. Thanks 👍

I bought a Bearcat 980 and it receives well, but I cannot get anybody to answer when I ask for a radio check over the air.

I'm glad you said if you have the 1000 you don't need to upgrade, as I have the 1000, I guess I'll wait until they (if they DON'T use this name someone should be FIRED) come out with the 1020. One thing I'd like to add is they (garmin) does some weird sh*t such as on my older unit (has built in dash cam) which has a smaller screen I get 4 digits for miles and weigh stations it will tell me how far instead of just telling me there's one ahead.

Ok I’ve been dealing with this buzzing noise since my Boss Man bought this truck 4 months ago from Warner. I’m going to try this. Hopefully it works on a 2020 if it does, I’ll come back. And say thanks 😊

I have been driving a 2020 Cascadia for a little over 3 yrs now and it does that about once a year. I've had the interior cab light stay on b4 and had to unplug it. When I plugged it back in it worked fine. I've had that happen about 3 times. I've also had my A/C stop working while driving 2 or 3 times. I talked to the owner about it and he said it was a common problem with these trucks. If I'm ever able to buy my own truck then I will NOT buy 1 of these! The old freightliner were better b4 all the electronic BS!!

Maybe check to see if they are used. Or you having your radio on 24/7
