Making Bad Art and living life in the meantime...

More of a casual upload. Even bad art is worth sharing. In today's video I wanted to share what I've been up to for the last few months and give an honest insight into my disappointing attempts at my most recent portrait paintings along with a few triumphs. I do believe I'm finding my way out of these dark times, but man did it feel never ending. I am switching up my style by being less expecti...

Hello Everyone! Welcome to the video. I'm coming to you with a video about color mixing charts. These charts hang in my studio and have been a huge help in color matching, so I wanted to share this tool with you! I learned about these just initially through Thomas Baker, it changed my relationship with color mixing and color exploration! Hope you walk away with something you didn't know before ...
Paint Without Expectations | Pushing My Comfort Zone | Experiment More!

Welcome to todays video! I hope you're finding the time to draw, paint, create something today that is both fulfilling and free of expectations. Abstract art seems like one of the ways I can dip into that flow state and just let my body take over without much of an after thought. I explored a new style of painting, which uses unprimed canvas and diluted oil paints. I am going to continue to exp...

Studio Days in My Life ~ I am starting the journey of painting portraits of the ones I love. Up first is my boyfriend, he kindly posed for this portrait and its my biggest painting yet. I stretched the canvas myself as well. There isn't a cross brace on it so its probably going to warp in the future HA! I'll figure that out later. 0:00 Intro 0:41 Introducing the sitter for my Portrait 2:26 Sett...

Speed Paint | Stylized Portrait | Paint With Me Using Oils
Переглядів 442Рік тому
Hey everyone, I hope you enjoy this time lapse of an oil painted portrait. I am fully leaning into this style of painting, which funny enough is how I used to paint as a child. Getting back to my roots feels natural and I am loving it. Stylization is a fine line I have to walk... too far and it becomes a caricature.
Paint With Me | If Color Were a Person.. Who Would They Be?
Переглядів 343Рік тому
Welcome! How are you doing today? Your time is much appreciated, I hope you enjoy the video today. In this video I am exploring the idea of personifying color. I paint people, which is such a broad subject matter, so I wanted to find ways to create creative constraints around this topic. So I had the idea of finding a person who looked as though they would embody a color as if it were a person....

Hey whats up! Welcome to the video, I hope you're doing well. In this video, I'm going through some artwork from years ago, up until now. My work will always be in progress and this is no exception. No work is created in vain! I'm saying this to convince myself, not you! Not being exactly where I want to be with my artwork is sometimes frustrating, but I have to remind myself every piece I crea...

I love Steve Keene!
He’s great! He really makes it feel like art can be accessible to everyone. Glad you recognized the reference:)
I missed you girl!!!! thanks for taking us along on a visual trip to Greece!!! I experience every last thing you said about art! I also know that your art looked absolutely fantastic even if you didn't like it...today! I loved ALL of your portraits! Art is certainly a journey! Looking forward to your next video!
You missed me!? What! You don’t know how happy I am to hear that. Thanks so much. I’m happy to be back here posting. It’s validating to know I am not alone. Art struggles are so real. But we move forward lol I’ll be posting a Greece art vlog as well! Thanks again for such a kind comment
Wow. Thank you for sharing this very real and relatable video. Your progress through the video was amazing. For what it’s worth the early pieces all have charm ✨
Oooh I love that you see the charm. I’ve heard before that it’s not up to us to decided what art is good or bad, we should just put it out there and let other people enjoy it. Your comment made me feel a bit better!
☺👏🙂
Very relatable.
Im with you 😫
Thanks for this.... You've traveled to the same places I want to go.. Turkey & Greece! And my art practice is a struggle these days...lol
I guess art will forever be full of ups and downs. I am also currently in the down! I wasn’t in turkey for very long, but I will be doing a Greece art style vlog. I hope you tune in for that video as well! :)
I love it, I would also be interested in knowing what colours you used ?
Fascinating video. But in all honesty, as a rank amateur hobbyist, I’d take my reference photo to the art store and find as close a match as possible. 😊😊😊 This does give me so much appreciation for those of you who are true artists. ❤❤
Well I appreciate you taking the time to watch! These charts took me a while to create so I don't blame you for going out and finding the exact color match!! :))
I love your calm demeanor and your easy to understand explanations.
Im happy I was able to get my thoughts across in an understandable way! Glad you enjoyed the video!
Loving this video❤️🔥
Thank you!!
I would love to hear her story, you can see she has a lot to say by her expression and beauty.
Would love to see the full length of the creation of that one. Beautiful! ❤❤
You broke an art block for me with this video…I love colour love playing with colour but a terrible artist. But this thought starter ‘what would --- be’ is amazing. ❤🙏🏽
You know when and random idea just comes to you out of the blue... this was that idea for me haha!
❤ what a video idea. Omg this should be a series
You've inspired me to do so. I was thinking about it but never got back around to it. I have footage for purple and orange as a theme so thanks for that boost!
You popped into my feed. What a treat. ❤ Liked and commenting for the algorithm.
I appreciate you! :)
I’m a NYC mixed media artist and it’s my job experimenting with all I can think of using for my art and it can become a mixed media sculpture
When I experiment and lead with curiosity I often like the work more! As a mixed media artist, I can imagine so many different things influence your work! Very Cool!
I appreciate your video. ❤ it remains and reminds me that there are no rules to self expression.
No rules at all! Glad you enjoyed the video :)
Girl I am obsessed with your art
That means so much, I appreciate it!
Hey! This was awesome. I recently moved from nyc to San Francisco. What camera did you use to film this and what’s your instagram?
Thank you so much! I hope San Francisco is treating you well :) I'm still getting my instagram up and running, IG is so much harder for me than youtube... not sure why!! But I used the sony zv1 as my camera for all my filming!
Simply beautiful!! ❤❤
thank you!
It’s beautiful !! BRAVO 🌷💕🌷
Thank you ☺️
New subbie...fellow artist. Your channel has a great vibe! 😊
Hey fellow artist! Welcome, happy to have you here :) I appreciate that!
It’s so beautiful! This was super inspiring❤️
Thank you Ann! I’m so happy you enjoyed the video and found some inspiration through it :)
so glad UA-cam has been recommending smaller art channels to me lately. Such a joy to watch!
Ahhh yes, that makes me happy to hear. thanks for taking the time to drop in, hangout and paint with me :)
I feel the same way! For the past two years I’ve been working non stop illustrating but didn’t have time for my own personal projects. 😢 I completely agree with everything you said here! 😊
We have to make that time for ourselves! I'm still learning to figure out whats urgent vs. whats important, its hard to know the difference sometimes. Hope you find the time for your personal projects :)
Chante, yes!!!! I love the painting and you are a gem, my sister.. God Bless you❤
Thank you for sending that appreciation my way, that means a lot! Much love to you!
I found Helen's work recently too and have been so inspired. I'm getting my paints together to make something today after seeing your video earlier this week. Thanks for the inspo! Your painting looks lush!
Oh yes! I love to hear that. I hope you enjoy the process. It truly was such an uninhibited form of play. Also thank you for the kind comment. I loved how it came out too :)
Love it. Creating wuth expectations can be refreshing.
Absolutely. It was much needed
Everything about this video and that piece is so refreshing. Thank you for creating and sharing!

You're so right about that
New subscriber. Dope work! I appreciate you taking the time to show and explain that color chart and paying such close attention to detail with it. The piece turned out great. Can't wait to see more
Thank you for subscribing! I appreciate the wonderful comment. Excited to show more for sure!
That long skirt is cuuute can’t wait to see it painted
Yesss! I will definitely be giving that skirt a new life. I'm still stuck in the phase of what is the perfect thing to paint on it. But I think I just need to dive in and experiment with an idea!
This is such a lovely video. Your thoughts on creativity and audacity were great not to mention your editing!
Thank you so much! I'm trying to find new ways to present my ideas through editing so I'm happy you enjoyed it :)
Where can we get that paint mixing table ?
Its from ikea. The name is "NISSAFORS" if you want to search it up. On top of the cart I have a painting palette
Those paint pants are awesome. It’s always a struggle for me not painting in my robe. Bought a bunch of jumpers so I can feel just as cosy. 😊
Yesss! I want to be comfy and paint clothes friendly. You've inspired me to go and thrift a bunch of comfy painting clothes :) Not sure why its taken me so long to arrive at this conclusion haha
There’s something about how you smudge out and make changes in the line stage that almost builds up the feeling of an underpainting, and that makes me so excited to embrace corrections in my own paintings. Like I could just smudge it out AND get beautiful depth too!
Thats a great observation! It seems to happen by chance sometimes, but I've done paintings in the past where I actually intentionally wiped away and smudged paint on purpose in the underpainting stage! So you're onto something, definitely continue to just roll with those unexpected moments in the underpainting!
The Universe is Waiting for Ya …
