No matter how strong men is tears in eyes always wins 😢one of best emotional movies i ever watches...iam one of youngest brother and lost my older brother in bosnian war 1992 he was soldier too 😢
even im not a korean, but this movie resonates so close to me as fellow human being, every war is a civil war between humans and its such a tragedy most politicians are still greedy and being egoistic by sacrificing young people to reach their goals and ambitions up to this day
I spent the whole movie rooting for the Reds. It is a pity that due to the blockade of the West, the retreat from revolutionary positions in China and Russia, the DPRK went through the horrors of the 90s, and is simply unable to respond to the vile propaganda of the South at the cinematic level.
Being Korean watching this movie was intense , especially this scene. Idk why but knowing that his older brother never returned to finish his shoes gets me every time.
This movie is incredible, if you haven't already checkout My Way. It was directed by the same person who directed this movie that movies is just as incredible.
0:40 Translation: Aren’t you gonna go to mom? Aren’t you gonna go to Young-Shin sisters grave? You said you would open a shoe store for mom! Are you gonna die like this? You couldn’t even go to school! You gave up your studies for nothing! Aren’t you gonna see me go to college, huh?! (He realizes) J-Jin-Seok? Big brother… You were really alive?! You were alive?! Go already! We have to go together! Go before you die! That’s nonsense! Get up! Get up already! Listen to me. I’ll survive. I made shoes for you for college. Until I’m done making them, I won’t die. Go! I can’t! Listen to me! Go! Go together! We have to go together! Then we’ll both die! That’s nonsense!! Listen to me!!! You believe me right? I found this in the fire. When we meet again, you have to give it back to me. You have to come back, alright? You have to come back!
50 years ago, a surviving veteran of the Korean War, probably graduated from college, married, has children and grandchildren, eventually mourns upon learning that his older brother had died, never to fufill the promise to finish the shoes he was making for him.
Wrong the older brother fought for North because he thought his brother died at one point in the movie because a South Korean general ordered to kill hostages that were North Korean spies or suspected to be. The younger brother goes to the enemy side to find his brother when he found out he’s still alive to bring him back to South Korea.
❤😢

As a Korean, I would like to express my deep respect and gratitude to the veterans who fought for the free Republic of Korea.

如今的中国90后,全是住公寓楼的独生子女。此仇不报
For those who have not seen it; I highly recommend that you do. A near perfect movie. And I don’t give 5 stars to many films.

this movie is about 50s korean brotherhood and family. not propaganda of south korea`s patriotic.
Is this movie “the front line” ?
no this is taegukgi, the brotherhood of war
War is sad thing it takes the best people from us.
お兄ちゃあぁ嗚呼~~ん!!(泣)

Our Version of Titanic
"ohh you watch K-drama?? How cringe." What i really watch:
Not funny at all
14 year old sigma gigachad wannabees when they realize that Kdramas are more than just oppa romance:
戦争は否定しても 戦死者を否定してはいけないと 日本の言葉があります
Willing to risk his life to protect his younger brother such a masterpiece
10 times watched, 11 times cried.
One of those scenes that makes the toughest of men break down crying. Easily one of the greatest war films ever made.
Film Korea terbaik sepanjang sejarah 👍👍👍👍

damn happy my dad introduced me to this movie way way back. still remember how much i started crying at the end ):
Really thank you...
When he pulls the shoes out of the closet and they are already finished…
I’ve seen this movie so many times since 2005 and it still makes me do the ugly cry every time during this scene.
Man after all these years this scene still gets the water works flowing. 😭

Exactly. The point is, he had already finished the shoes and he lied to make the younger brother go.
I wached this movie in French version, it is very emotional, a Masterpiece.
It seems the end of "Saving Private Ryan".
This movie is nothing like saving private Ryan. Go watch this movie
I saw my dad cry here - in this scene. He lost his brother to machine gun fire and my uncle died on his hands...
Are you from former Yugoslavia?
@@scepticsquirrel yes
Which side? I have listened from Bosniaks and Balkan Turks some horrible trench stories. Siege of Sarajevo was exceptionally brutal.@@SM-qo9gr
