Awesome
Lovely video Stuart. Your 360 camera seems really clear compared to mine, which one do you use?
@chrislarkins Hi Chris, I know what you mean about it seeming clear, but when editing it seems much poorer quality. Mine is an insta360x2 I believe the newer ones have a higher resolution, allowing you to zoom in more.
An interesting flight. Thanks for sharing. 👍
Hey, were you flying over Cwmbran today heading across to Newport?
@@accidentalactor9306 Not me today.
It’s amazing how unreliable 2 strokes can be, given how simple they are. I had a Yamaha LC 350 and it was utterly reliable first kick never missed a beat for 3 years, but my polini paramotor is another story, EF at 1500 feet, and same again at 500 over a solar farm at membury. It was the carb diaphragm. The Bailey 4 stroke by contrast runs like a sewing machine. Just a bit gutless on nil wind. I’d be looking for an old 912 to complement that plane, unless there’s a weight issue
@thpxs0554 your absolutely right re 2strokes, I now have a 4 stroke 912.
Really enjoyed watching that, thank you.
@@seanboxall5869 Thanks for your comment 👍
I do like the view out of mist glider, those wings don't get in the way. It's why I fancy a shadow like yours. Great views and a great aircraft to fly.
where in newport is this field?
@pauldixon9327 South Wales, first city you come to once you cross the River Seven, on the M4 motorway heading west 😀
Great video Stuart, nice to see you still aviating
@JamesMcMurdo-h7s Good to hear from you Jim, still hang on to my pilots licence, must admit microlights and farm strips make it more affordable than flying out of Liverpool 😃
Nicely done Stu, done a few over the years for real thanks to the oh so reliable rotax 2 strokes lol
@fieldsman3307 yup, 2strokes are good, until they stop.
Excellent translation of pilot speak! Beautiful evening in Wales. Very well done.
I enjoyed that. Over 40 years ago during my PPL training in C152s at Swanton Morley in Norfolk my instructor taught dead stick landings, engine off, raise the nose to stop the prop windmilling, then land on the (huge) grass field. I did 2 of those. One of the most useful bits of practice I ever did. Never had the confidence to do it solo!
Another great one Stuart!
Great video and nice landing.
Nice Video Stu
Textbook stuff Stuart. Reminds us all to remember the basics and practice them. Thank you for sharing.
nice aircraft
Very interesting video Stuart.
Another previous owner of BRAR, looks like Alan is enjoying himself! ❤
It would be great to get a tour of Old Park Farm on a busy day, if it was possible….I bet there are some real gems hiding in those hangars!
Is this GENEE?
No this was G MYTH, CD Shadow with 503 Rotax
Enjoy these videos…thanks for posting. Have become a shadow fan.
awwww i leant to hanglide up there and currently travelling in cambodia and i see all the hills where i spent my childhood walking and camping. I'm watching your video because i still have a total flying obsession. Thanks for the video

Great job Patrick! Nice landings.
awesome
awesome > always wanted a shadow
I used to own G-BRAR for a number of years what a great aeroplane. Safest and most reliable and fun strip flying machine. Very capable. Thank you so much for this video
Just happened to come across your video haha, super nice video greetings from netherlands
What flying is all about :D Thanks Stuart!
You are getting all over the country
Thanks Stuart. Never been to Farway but visited Hallwell a few times, not even sure it's still open.
Music's hilarious
@The_Flying_Pig yes they don't write song that any more. Thank goodness!
Very good video do you have to pay to land on these airstrips if so what is the cost thanks.
@samboyle4779 yes, you pau to land at most, some are free but usually it's a fiver some expensive ones are £15
Great video...enjoyed it
Hi stuart does it get warm in the cock pit.
Very nice airplane, amazing visibility. Was it built with Rotax 912 ULS from the beginning, or did you retrofit it?
I think I met Tim at Mona last Sunday just gone. He was flying a Zenair back to Newport International ;)
That sounds right, he was up in that area.
Hi Stuart - Just started watching your videos, they are all really good and enjoyable. A Shadow is on my list of aircraft that might be affordable - are there any on line resources to research running costs? I'd really like to stop hiring :)
HI Mark, Thanks for taking the time to comment, appreciated. Running costs? That is a bit of a `how long is a piece of string question,` The one thing I would say buying an aircraft is EASY, finding somewhere to hanger it and an airfield that has good all year use (No some flat grass strips that lose months to being waterlogged) is another issue. Maintaining the aircraft yourself depends on your skill level with spanners etc., then there is the permit and insurance cost. It really depends on how often you can fly, to make ownership cost effective. Good luck.
Excellent video Stuart. Just what I'll be doing once I've got my licence.
Nice one Stu, we haven't seen a blue sky day like that yet so I have spent more time fishing than flying lol
Superb sound quality! The grandkids have made you a real UA-camr!
Tell me more about the sound setup
@The_Flying_Pig Hi Ben, as I have no intercom, I can't record whilst in flight ( my headset mic is dead until the PPT is pressed) I have tried putting another microphone and speaking but when you can't hear yourself the tone etc is way off. So my daughter, on advice of the grandchildren very kindly got me a desk microphone,so instead of using my phone, I can record direct onto the PC.
Aaaaah in with you. You can use it for when you start doing your flying Podcasts too!
Great video, thanks!
Hi Stuart, glad you found a dry spot. So sorry I missed you but I was back home for a few weeks.
I miss my Quantum. Nice video. 👍
Wow, Paul ,UA-cam celebrity commenting on my vid. I have taken your advice on airbed, made such a difference, Thanks. I mentioned you on my latest video when I visited Darley Moor.
Great video. Thoroughly enjoyed.
Jealous you got to camp with Alapacs
Great video. Thank you .
What a great adventure. I've liked the Shadow since it came out in the 80s. I start my flight training later on this year and will be looking for one when I've finished it. I watch Giles and Paul, they do great videos. You look to be based near St Athan. I was based there for a couple of years when I was in the RAF.
Hi simon were are you doing your training.
@samboyle4779 Hi Sam. I live in Lancashire so I'm probably going to the West Lancashire Microlight School.
@@SimonAmazingClarke Hi thinking of going to spain on a crash course ive done 10 hours in a flex wing but weather is a pain.
@samboyle4779 In 2001 I was doing my PPL-A. I must have booked 35 lessons, only had 23. What I like about the microlight licence is it's only 25 hours minimum. I need to relearn everything for the exams. After that I'll see how I'm doing. I'd like to have a week off work and finish the cross countries, get the test prep done, and have the final test. Is it the GST, that's stuck in my head for some reason. Spain could be an option, I know some schools operate both here and there, very useful. If you have everything else ticked off.
Bravo pour ces trés belles images et bon vol a vous ,salutations!!!!!
What an epic weekend and a really well edited video that was a pleasure to watch Stuart! We flew into Troutbeck a month ago, it was very soggy on the first humps of rwy19 and the parking area. The food in the Troutbeck Inn was very good!
Thanks appreciated
