Chieftain Tank running at the Capel Military Show 2024
In the second half of the video, there is some footage of the tank stationary in the arena and also about to try the Ditch of Despair before it looks like the organisers, quite sensibly probably, say no!

Note the smoke ring blowing cannon! Apologies to the Confederate Infantry, but they were largely located by a WWII 25pdr gun that was in the arena, with a Land Rover in the background, so I didn't take footage of them as I thought that spoilt the look.

Is that Willey commenting? Nice.
Should try the same with a Panther or Tiger, just for fun :D
Epic tank!
Are tracks original? They look awfully German specifically like Panzer 3 tracks
I would suggest you check out the owner's channel, that I linked in the description, you may well be able to get some clarity with his videos.
@@andrewd666 thanks 👍 I checked and they are in fact originals
I thought this was a scale model as it looks tiny!
I’d choose this over Ajax lol 😂
Wish they could swim this as well as drive it in circles. Ah, memories🙂
With the weather during much of the Show, it looked like it might get a chance to swim! As I say, with my Capel 2024 Playlist, the organisers and volunteers did an amazing job in the circumstances, not forgetting the vehicle owners and re-enactors of course.
I know nowt about these but they look fun fun fun.
Without these jeeps no landys. And look at the fun those guys were having just going round in circles. As Homer would say: "hurrr"
Great going Have fun ‼️ 🪖
What a waste 😮 of £££ where’s the cope cage??! Total joke A recce vehicle lol 😂 Good video though :)
You showed a lightweight. A little tear fell from my eye. You got a like. They're noisy. They're cold. They come with their own internal lakes and water falls from new (real ones do, anyway). They're the best fun on a wet and (otherwise) boring day. They are tonka toys (although easier to break). And no emoji gets close to expressing how it feels to sink in one, er, i mean have fun in one😇 Thanks for this little gem🤪
Wow, what a thank you!...you are more than welcome 😁
Jesus..After all this fanfare..its a glorified Warrior....
Not a warrior replacement.
@@backnorth ah..but I never said it was...
Ajax aka a warrior updated lol
The crew has a lot of vission holes. No infantry can hide from it
so back before Easter this year I went to the tank museum and saw the Tommy in the trenches tour. The guide was explaining to us the experiences of what young soldiers had to go through. At the end of the tour he said that this exhibition was built in November 1998. I asked him if he could bring back the original audio to the trenches and I showed him some recordings but he said for me to move on. I also asked him if he could switch on the old blue headlights above. He said he won’t because it could be too dark and his younger grandson was too scared to walk through the trenches when he took him to see. However the tour guide did mention that one morning few months ago, his morning job was to open the door to the trenches and use a flashlight to find his way to the operating buttons to turn the audios on as well as the lights. After pulling the switch to turn the sounds on, an unusual noise started playing what seemed like a carriageway train charging through the area followed up with another audio playing of some injured men in the stretchers crying out “water, water!” He thought it was a ghost calling him to fetch some water. After the audio stopped playing, he never heard it again and was very confused because he had never heard this sound before after working in the museum for a couple of years. What could be the problem that activated that particular speaker? Why did it never play again? Could it be repaired and restored?
Professional yapper over here
@@SupremeV1per what?
How many times did it overheat during its laps?
Frankentank.
hear me out...
Not really surprised. Quite a lot of Sherman tanks that got knocked out was towed back to motor pools, insides washed and cleaned of any remains of the previous crew, components repaired or replaced entirely, holes in the armor patched and sealed, a fresh coat of paint, and finally a whole new crew assigned and the Sherman is back on the field. Goes to show just how easy it was for mechanics to get a disabled Sherman back into action when compared to German tanks.
Your cameras refresh rate makes it look like the tracks are in stop-motion.
I don't believe it's anything to do with the camera; it was shot at 50fps, although I can't comment on what UA-cam processing may do to footage. If you are referring to the initial part of the video, the tank was turning slowing before coming to a stop.
Epic tank
Impressive! Thanks for sharing!
Glad you liked the video! 😁
It's a common grave...
In an earlier life it was used as a tea strainer by the British!
I've only just recently discovered that the British had this interesting multi-turreted tank. It certainly is interesting to look at. I particularly like the 3 old fashioned looking machine guns.
Should you be unaware, they were still using Vickers Water Cooled machine guns in their tank designs hence the large space needed for the water jacket.
Darn woodpeckers these days.
Is it for sale
Like models on a catwalk. You had to be there.
"Tis but a scratch"
Damn, it looks nasty. It could be a war-damaged tank as well. There are pieces which took just as much punishment in consecutive clashes.
Takes a licking and keeps on ticking.
Probably some Americans: Nothing a bit of JB-Weld can't fix!
Better hide it, the Russians will want it for Ukraine.
They must have awful lot of buckets inside in case of rain.
Cool, that they didn't repair all the bulletholes. Thumbs up! :)
It will rub out...😆 It breaks my heart and causes it to sing. Love the M3 👍👍

That is amazing I love it, never seen something like that before
The bane of tier ten. I didn't know one of these still existed, let alone ran. It's amazing to witness.
Hello everybody! Beautiful old truck, beautiful video!
Glad you like it; apart from this video of the truck running, I also took footage of it 'close up' when on display away from the arena which I'll be posting in the coming weeks.
@@andrewd666 You are welcome!
Well ventilated!
Cheese tank.
Adorable Vibe The Sheet Metal’s doing it’s Best
Oof... Its original crew didn't had such a great time, so it seems.
Is the track tension supposed to be that loose on the drivers side track?
Well ventilation is sorted
dude people ruining it by standing in hatches of the tank nobody wants to see them get back in and get outta site dudes

What calliber holes, from a .50 or even a 20mm?
