@theperfectlyimperfectpianist Hello Ruthie, it is always good to hear from you but I have some news, I don't play any more for the simple reason that I don't enjoy it. I've tried hard over fifteen years and got absolutely nowhere for about nine of those years and the more I practice the more frustrated I become, thinking that it will make me a better musician when it clearly doesn't. Fifteen years is a long time to have tried but it's not for me. I should have began learning as a carefree 18 year old, too bloody old now. However I shall not be deleting my UA-cam channel upon request from my wife, nor will I be getting rid of my piano. I'll probably have it buried with me along with all the music books I can't read! I think I honestly get more pleasure out of listening to and analysing music than trying to play it! I really hope your playing goes from strength to strength Ruthiecakes. I know it will!🎹🎹🎹🎹🎹

@@DavidSmith-648 David, I am disheartened to hear that as your last recorded piece was incredibly beautiful. My oldest student is 74 years old and he's not giving up. 🙏 I would be happy to offer lessons FREE of charge if you're willing to keep it going. I am extremely patient and try multiple ways of introducing musical concepts. There is not a one-size-fits-all approach to teaching music. If not, I understand and wish you well.

@theperfectlyimperfectpianist Some of those videos, believe it or not are 50 takes! Most are over 10 takes - proof if any I'm not getting better and practice isn't working. I really wanted to be a church organist but churches where I live (I'm not from Free America by the way) are extremely unsupportive and complacent. Christianity in my country only works if you're the correct type I've always said but that's another matter! It is very good and very caring of you to offer free lessons but I'm not looking for piano lessons as that's not what I want and in any case my last piano teacher and I have split very acrimo iously. I know that I've reached the end, in the words of The Beatles 'this bird has flown', I'm now at 54 way way too old and have more than my share of worries and cares to carry around to succeed at piano and organ playing....but at least I've tried my best and better to have failed and tried hard than not to have tried at all. Of course I still remain one of your subscribers dear Ruthie and I will always be there to encourage you as it's my duty as I have always considered you my friend.

I was actually going to delete my channel over the next couple of weeks having become disenchanted with trying to learn the piano after 15 years, and for having a major fall out with my teacher. You may have just persuaded me against it so thank you for that too!!!

@patvandallcarano9983 Yes. Epiglottitis, inflammation and sores on my epiglottis which is a bacterial infection like thrush. Because it was where it was it affected both my ability to eat and my ability to breathe

@ICanPlayPiano oh how terrible! I've had thrush a few times and that was bad enough! I'm so glad you are better.

@patvandallcarano9983 For me too, the Child's Grace was a part of infant school life for me before school lunch. Thank you! I like the sound of some of the chapel organs in Wales, quite a few of those are reed rather than pipe and so their sound is very raw.

Thank you fort watching. My piano teacher has been a church organist for 45 years and she needs the music to do her AMEN cadences - I have discovered the secret using the Circle of Fifths!!

Hello Pat...I've got some young children's hymns coming up to round this playlist off, be a nice idea to use the celesta voice. That will definitely make you fall asleep as they're basically grace lullabies!

@theperfectlyimperfectpianist This one wasn't easy at all. Practiced it for three weeks and having real trouble with following it to a point that I had to memorise it. Then once the camera is on my performance anxiety took hold. This, can you believe it was 65 takes! I wish God would just remove my pressure playing the piano (if I was American I'd ask Him🫥)

@@DavidSmith-648 It was well worth the practice. May I recommend playing each hand separately? I have performance anxiety as well and make mistakes. It helps to try to feel the music and relax.

@patvandallcarano9983 Me neither. To tell you the truth I never come across this hymnal until I got to know Karen, a Lutheran. Over here there are just the standard Church (of England) hymnals, the traditional Ancient and Modern and the more up to date Anglican Hymns Old and New. So CW is a whole new game in terms of familiarity but to me it's the unlikely hymnal I just so happen to be learning with, all thanks to Kareny Karen!
