The Terapagos ex Deck is BROKEN! | Deck List & Gameplay
Stellar Crown is about to be legal for tournament play and there is no deck I have played more than Terapagos ex with Dusknoir! I can't remember the last time I played a combo deck this insane. I often find myself winning in just two attacks, and am regularly taking 5 prize cards in one turn!
In this video I go over my deck list and explain why I do or don't play certain cards and then show off some games where I consistently pull off some crazy combos to win games! Hopefully this video teaches you how to play Terapagos ex!
Let me know what you think of the deck and what other decks from Stellar Crown you have been playing!

Chien-Pao Gameplay: Wipe Out Your Opponents Board and Do Unlimited Damage!
I want this video but after rotation.
As a beginner who wants to play lugia, would you blame me for being interested in your list? Been trying to find a good list to build up a deck besides copying the one from tcg live
@@Mr-Eleven my list is probably the most streamlined and beginner friendly version out there. I definitely think it's great for beginners!
I got cpao in pokemon tgc app game and I love it sooo much I got the starter deck and I got get more cards to get it to media level
i need TCG Live friends, add my screen name FerrucioLambo
even though this is informative how ever in your comments with the rare candy and axcal If you run extra evos for any reason U would need to possibly run 1 at least. Like the DUSKS
Hey Ciran wanted to reach out and congratulate u on your recent top! I am only a few hours from you #canadagang hopefully some time I'll run into you during a cup or the Toronto regional! I wanted to ask you about Lugia and curious on your thoughts about the lists still playing great ball without squwakabilly and playing more then 2-2 rats
Grats on 6th with the big water bird. Do you prefer Turtle Power over Lugia - or is it a draw in your opinion?
@@JeeYaoKuneDo thank you! I personally have more fun playing Terapagos, but I think Lugia is a bit stronger in the current meta. Terapagos is still really good though
Just getting into the tcg for Pokémon and have been having some insane games with this!
@@nepuu7357 terapagos is a crazy fun first deck. The combos it can pull off are crazy!
I am a little confused, looking at the list, there appears to be a dusclops missing, was there something forl the original decklist you subsituted out for dusclops?
@@XanXinGames I filmed the games before I decided a final list. Through testing I decided Dusclops wasn't needed
Omg the plays . I think i might work towards this deck for league
@@halo007Mex this deck is so fun once you get the hang of it!!
In game 2 I killed the Minccino but it was a misplay. My reason was that if you got Boss KO with Hands and throw energy on the Minccino I would be in a losing position but it was a poor idea since KOing the Archeops would allow me to target the Minccino the following turn with energy on it which might make you whiff the Wyrdeer V KO as the finishing play.
I feel like I was in a winning position either way. As long as I sacked the Research off Iono there was probably a win con for me lol
Legend
Hey Ciaran, thanks for this video. I reached top 2 at locals today, unfortunately a Zard match is complicated. Can you make a video talking about Palkia Dusknoir?
That's awesome, congrats on your finish. The Zard matchup is definitely tough. I need to play some more games with Palkia, but if I can find time maybe I'll make a video!
how do you deal with iron thorns ex?
Noctowl can still use its ability. So you really just need to pull off 2-3 dusknoirs and attack with Terapagos to win. My newest list has colress and vitality band in it which really helps. I cut 1 duskull, 1 dusknoir, and mew for Colress, vitality, and hoot hoot
@@CiaranTCG super helpful - thank you!!
Im currently playing terapagos ex (with Dusknoir and Pidgeot ex) and im REALLY struggling against dragapult. So, what is the plan on this matchup on terapagos's side? Is it possible to beat it front to front? Or my play here is to beat it before It stacks? But i find It hard to do It so since terapagos can't attack on the Second turn and on the third turn my oponente already has a dragapult stacked on the field. Some advice?
Ideally you go first and are able to dusknoir plus prime to wipe them of dreepy. I think if you chase down their duskulls you should have an opportunity for a big Briar turn since they have to bench rotom, fez, and lumineon
@@CiaranTCG thanks dude! gonna try next time
sweet, this deck is broken, dusknoir annoyed me so much when playing against it to a point where i built a deck for myself hehe. I really like colress tenacity tho, saved my t2 quite often.
If you can't beat em, join em 🤷🏼♂️. I've added colress to my most recent list. I cut a Mew, Dusknoir, and Duskull for Colress, Hoot Hoot, and vitality band
I played on stream too and embarrassed myself lmao
It is honestly so much harder to play on stream, especially if it's your first time lol
Nice vid, i have been trying the deck and it so fun to play. im playing the list of the 2nd place from jonville. I think the boss is a must to keep presuring charizar or draga before they evolve their charmander and drepys. But I find the vitality band uselesss, only for moon or mirror to reach 230
After playing more I've added Boss in for a CC. Vitality band feels bad, but it swings mirror fairly heavily. It seems like Terapagos is going to pick up in popularity after this weekend.
My list is two cards off from yours I play 4-1-2 dusknoir line and I play 1 research and 1 colress tenacity
I've been messing around with colress and it feels pretty decent. I think 1 research is fine since you can search it when it is needed
Thoughts on colress in the deck?
I've added it for some of my testing and have found it pretty mediocre. I think I would prefer Energy Lotto
Feel funny watching this after reginals. "I don't know why I put pult in this tier list, I know Shintaro is playing a list without pidgeot but..." This is totally a god tier sign hahaha😂 I mean, there must be some mysterious force that made you add it to the list and then a Japanese player really won the whole thing
I was literally thinking that when Pult won haha. I played some games with the list and it's pretty good, I still don't think it is a crazy strong deck though
came back to say thanks. This decklist of terapagos ex was by far the most fun i had in a while.
Glad you're enjoying it. The deck is honestly so fun, not like any other deck in the format for sure!
Don't you find it's difficult dealing with anything that increases HP like hero's cape?
Very few decks play Hero's cape, and if they do you normally try and just KO their other Pokemon. It definitely isn't ideal though
Thoughts on including one Manaphy for pult?
Manaphy does not stop Pult… would only be useful against ninja decks, and Drago (Kyurem)
Manaphy doesn't work against Pult, but it would be really helpful against Regidrago and Palkia!
Cool deck but I have seen this 1:15 get absolutely destroyed with the Charizard dusknoir radiant Charizard arceus deck on turn two or three
If Charizard sets up it definitely has a big advantage over this deck. I think Bouffalant could help that matchup
@@CiaranTCG it can be a little difficult to set up and it’s only getting rid of one energy at a time. If that is when you’re talking about. And if you tell him about decreasing damage, that’s no problem because that’s what the dusknoit are for. And the deck is pretty crazy. I’ve seen it take five prizes in one turn.
I mean the bouffalant that decreseas damage since you force them to dusknoir. If they do that they are just accelerating your game for you
Any tips on improving charizard matchup on roaring moon turbo? It’s my first deck and I’m really liking it and its pace but Charizard freaks the hell out of me
Charizard is just a tough matchup for the deck. One thing I try to do is take the first KO with Baby Moon and then KO Rotom. If you do this you can Frenzied Gouging to get yourself to 1 so they can't Dusclops/noir. You still leave the door open for Briar though
@@CiaranTCGbefore reading this I actually started doing exactly that and basically just using baby moon to do chip to set up for calamity storm. I also considered replacing baby moon and some other cards straight up with a small dusknoir package but that doesn’t seem worth it lol
There was a list from Joinville Regionals with the Dusknoir package. They are Pokehive on Twitter if you want to check them out!
Two questions: 1) What's the theory behind no boss? 2) Did you consider a heavy ball or 2-1 pidgey/pidgeot?
1) I normally play from behind or can use Dusknoir to force myself down in prize cards, but after playing more I'd switch one of the Counter Catchers to a boss. 2) No, I don't think Heavy Ball is necessary. I play heavy counts of my basics, and if I need Bear I will probably get it out of the prizes before the game is done. 1-1 Pidgeot is fine to me, you don't need it every game
@@CiaranTCG thank you!
What do you think about running Thorton? I feel like you’d have even more control/combos that your opponent could never anticipate.
I think Thorton is a super cool card, and lets you pull off Dusknoir out of nowhere! I know Tord played it in his Turtle deck so it is definitely something to think about!
Think about the Wellspring/Crystal package in this deck?
What matchup would that be for?
@@CiaranTCG Evolving decks where you can wellspring, crystal, DTE and donk? It does 80 to the active and 120 to the bench. Pop a noir for another ko in the same turn.
I just think Prime Catcher is too strong of an Ace Spec not to play
How many credits i need to make this deck you think
I have no idea tbh, but the terapagos cards are free on the ladder
would you consider playing the bouffalants
I would for sure, but then the deck changes style a bit. Tord and Phillip Schulz are doing well at Dortmund with Bouffalant in their list. Once lists are up check theirs out!
This annoying kid world stomp on my league with Bolt if it wasnt for the valiant efforts of my Miraidon
You're the hero your league deserves
Bruh... This deck seems toxic. 🤣 Currently I'm using Palkia + Terapagos EX, and iron leaves ex deck, but I'm still struggling against Charizard and Dragapult due to lack of damage.
How could you struggle vs zard with iron leaves in your deck, it’s a zard slayer once you’re ahead in the prize trade you can always come out ahead.
The deck is definitely super toxic to sit across from lol. The palkia deck is super cool, I need to play more games with it
@SanganY It requires a lot set up. I need Fan Rotom, Palkia V, squakbility, Terapagos in first turn.
Hey bro, just wondering what the name of the watch is that you were wearing at regionals? It looks super cool
Pokemon and Fossil did a collab a couple years ago. I don't think they're on the Pokemon Center still, but there should be some on eBay
Hi Ciaran! Just wanted to say these videos are amazing and that in general I really love your content. I would love to see more of these vod reviews and think that watching both these vod reviews along with your general deck guides are incredibly helpful. Thank you!!
Hey, thank you for your kind words and supporting my content! I love doing vod breakdowns like these. Whenever I'm on stream I'll try and break it down or if there are other cool matches that catch my eye
How would this deck do against redidrago and lugia?
Regidrago is for sure the decks worst matchup. Kyurem is very strong in to it. A manaphy could help for sure. Lugia it just comes down to if you can take two prize cards before them
@@CiaranTCG Right. The deck is good, but its regional performance depends on the meta and they’ve been a lot of regidrago decks in the last 2 regionals.
There has been, but at Dortmund it was ~10%. No matter what deck you pick there will be bad matchups. Just have to avoid them sometimes for a deep run!
i was super unsure if i wanted to play this deck or the Palkia deck but i think youve convinced me <3
Both decks are good, but this one is super fun!
You want to go second in this match up? Isnt first better to set up before him and take a lead in the prize trade with iron hands or KO a 2 prizer?
Charizard has a lot of trouble setting up going first, and normally needs to Rotom. If they do then that is a free 2 prizes for me. Also their zard only does 180 if they attack first. Going second with Lugia lets me read the wind and get turn 2 archeops much more consitently
@@CiaranTCG Thanks for the answer, and i'm really enjoying your content!
@@SaltyJimmy no problem, glad you're enjoying it :)
The list posted in the description is different from the one in the video. Is there a reason for that?
The list in the description is the same from the start of the video. The list in the games is slightly different because I recorded those first and after testing made the final list
The list in the description has a Dusclops. The list at the start of the video does not.
Oh my bad, I must hve copied the old one. I fixed it now, thanks for pointing it out!
deck is crazy broken, palkia versions too. fan rotom + noctowl + pidgeot is as you put it "playing with your deck face up" & the Duskull Line + Stretcher is just unreal prize & board manip
I need to play the Palkia version more, but any deck with Noctowl is just insane right now. Stretcher combos insanely well with them too!
Do we need mew that bad? it seems like mew for heavy or fourth small bird would be better? plaese let me know..
No, I think Mew is probably the most cuttable card
@CiaranTCG thank you, so much brother, I am trying it without the mew today!!!
Some games you have Dusclops, but the list you showed didn’t have Dusclops
I filmed the games before I settled on the list at the beginning. Through the testing I concluded that it could be cut. You can see I didn't get much use out of it in any of them!
Gotcha! Thanks for the quick reply! Love your play style and hope you break through and win a regional soon brotha!
@@ericle6821 no problem, i really appreciate that :)
im somewhere between yours and rowan's list. deck is cracked regardless.
It's funny, Rowan and I actually discussed the deck before both of us posted our videos. I think a blend is probably good!
brent putting cape on the fish was cool to see. its the little things we may never think of that make a huge difference
Agreed, that is such a crazy line to find that I don't most players are capable of. There's a reason Brent is so consistently at the top tables!
Game 1 end is perfect. The other line is knocking out the Greninja and Zapdos it pretty much does the same thing. Your line was easier because you could also use Dusclops as well
I think I could have just done Ultra Ball Double Research --> Noctowl --> Briar + Candy and then poffin to fill my bench. The way I did it I needed to hit something off of Fez
is there a way to make the mirror suck less? feels like the one that goes first can just blow up whatever, and neither terapagos or bear can take on ohko until you're at 1 prize.
Not really to be honest, it does just feel like a go first matchup unfortunately. I think the game in the video shows though to not put a 2 prize Pokemon with less than 220 in to play
Dusknoir + Briar is such an insane combo that will only get better as more Tera EXs release. Would not be surprised if briar (or both) get banned in the future
I think the Pikachu ex and Magneton combo can use the card crazy well too. It just seems like a card that will continue to get abused
I didn’t believe you when I watched the tier list video but after thinking on it and theory-crafting, this deck is nuts…
I remember I was skeptical at first, but after a couple games I quickly realized how nuts the deck is!
Broken broken deck! Great vid!
Thank you sir!
