If you look at reel manufacturing today to 70 years ago the build quality is a thousand percent better but component quality has gone to crap. We consider aluminum a top quality gear material when back then it was for junk and brass or steel was the standard. Pressed steel was standard but brass was top of the line. They use zinc now to save on weight but really it's to save on cost. If they wanted to save on weight they could just use cast skeletonized brass or MIM skeletonized 316L stainless steel.

I have Tatula, but love my Airity WAY more, even more than any Stradic, 23 or 24 models. YES it's way more expensive. 😕 But it's impressive reel and VERY light.

I immediately take apart the Daiwa reels and put more reel grease around the gears. Have several reels from Japan Salamandura and Caldia. Never have maintenance problems after that. I own lots of fuego reels, after 2 years of use still going strong. I have replaced bearings in 2 reels, very cheap and easy swap work like new. I fish 3-4 days a week from a kayak, saltwater. Key, rinse reels, oil side bearings, bail and main post under spool.

Beautiful reel, ive wanted one for a long time. But I'm a trophy striper hunter. These reels have virtually no drag power at all .wats the max drag on the 200? 12 lbs? Not enuff. Great for bass and smallmouth but the fish I fish for would burn this up and spool it. 45 pound stripers make blistering 80, 150 yd runs under dams in fast River currents here in Tennessee where i fish for them. Im usually throwing 8 Oz 10 inch swimbaits, wouldn't work for my needs. Too bad there's not a beefed up version like a 400, with more line capy. And 35 lbs of drag.

So, if there are no screws on the Daiwa, how do you service it? Also, that Shimano spool size makes it look more like the 3000 than the 2400. I've held the 2500 and the spool does not look that large! Good review!

Purchased 2 metanium DCs when visiting Japan. Love the reel. Casts like a dream for distance and accuracy. I service my own reels so I’m not worried about the shimano service.

The Stradics offer outstanding smoothness, reliability, long life and easy home strip and servicing. But if you want extra finesse go the Shimano Vanford - class act. Cheers

Can you throw a super light lure with this reel like conquest bfs reel?

It's the same thing as the FL I like them but they corrode when you use them in salt water unlike the vanford

Awesome review, however, it is worth noting you csn get the tatula ma lt in a shallow spool which sould most likely help it get thpse 1/4 pz and under lures out there more.

you should try the Zappu Breedy underspin with the Hazedong shad. You'll go through baits quickly, but its very effective.

Why would you buy a fresh water spinning real that doesn't have a anti- reverse switch on it. Being able to back wind is one of the great benefits of a spinning real when using light line,

YES BUT ALSO GET “SNAGGED EASILY ON WOOD DUE TO THE SHORTER LENGTH WIRE AND THE HOOK EXTENDS PAST THAT WIRE /Bladed area AS I HAVE FOUND OUT A FEW TIMES…..DEFINITELY DONT ENJOY USING HIGH PRICED ITEMS IN THE RIVER

Tatula mq tolerance sucks I have a buddy whose had one for a year now and it sounds like a coffee grinder

In canada the Tatula MQ LT is 250 bucks and the Shimano stradic is 320. that is a massive price gap. the fact that they are being compared for the difference in price alone almost gives the MQ LT the win. I noticed people complaining about some sort of knocking stuff with MQ reels and daiwa reels in general so I'll have to see how that plays out. I do notice a slight side to side play if I wiggle the metal part of the handle. I have not noticed it while fishing. (I was a shimano boy last time I was fishing) this time around I went all daiwa well see how it goes I guess.

I find in very interesting that you never see the Pflueger Supreme-Patriarch line included in these comparisons. If you did they would wind up being the pick of the three 9 out of 10 times. And the supreme is $170.

Just watched this videos, and checked my Metanium 24 DC, and it is JDM models, i never had any problems on the the jdm models... opened it once for regrease and oiling, felt fantastic as ever... no problemo

I have both and 10000% the Tatula MQ is a better reel. The way it feels, casts, fights fish are better. The Stradic looks nicer, but performance the Tatula is the winner easily!
