Hello! This is a really great question. We specialize in helping Canadians, but we do assist Americans! Based on our knowledge, Australian universities have American students studying physio; however, those looking to practice in America will want to pursue a Doctor of Physiotherapy (as you said). Licensure is required to practice as a PT in the United States, and each licensing authority has its own eligibility criteria for licensure and for taking the National Physical Therapy Examination (NPTE), which is administered by the Federation of State Boards of Physical Therapy. We recommend you contact the American Physiotherapy Association to ensure you’re clear on the process to practice in the US with an Australia physio degree. If you’re interested in studying for a DPT, we recommend Bond University, Macquarie University, Monash University, or the University of Melbourne. Grad-entry programs tend to be more expensive by year (starting at AUD$90K 2025); however, they're shorter in duration (4 years). Undergraduate programs are generally less expensive (starting at AUD$49K 2025) but are 5-6 years. Great question! The Commission on Dental Accreditation of Canada (CDAC) recognizes Australian Dental Council (ADC) and Dental Council of New Zealand (DCNZ) accreditation for all general dentistry degrees. This means that graduates of Australian/NZ dental schools can follow the same process as graduates of a Canadian dental school: certification through the National Dental Examining Board of Canada (NDEB), pass the virtual OSCE, and then register with your provincial dental regulatory authority. If you’re an international student, you’re aware that it’s a condition of your visa to maintain Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC) for the entire duration of your stay in Australia. OSHC is insurance to assist international students meet the costs of medical and hospital care that they may need while in Australia. OSHC will also pay limited benefits for pharmaceuticals and ambulance services. No matter where you seek medical services, how much you need to pay-if at all-depends on your OSHC provider, as not all medical procedures and medications are covered (or partially covered).
