WOW! Back in high school, 81, my friend Carry built a '73 tubbed out Vega. 350 6pk. All the bells and whistles we had in 1981. The car was mint. But it didn't even last the first time out. Sure you can drag out any car. But Vegas and Astres of those years? Actually every Damn car you do what he did to it you HAVE TO REBUILD THE FRAME. He forgot that tiny thing and ended up with a 800 hp pretzel.

Replace the fuel filter.

Check the cap for the fuel tank. If the air vent is clogged, it'll starve the engine for fuel. Running it without the fuel cap will test for that. Also check the carburetor to make sure the float valve isn't sticking. Hope this helps.
