    Bgo, you are so wise being so young, I really admire you! Currently I am a developer working in a company that does not very tech friendly hence does not even pay me a sufficient salary for living expenses and making me suffer economically. That's why I started to try to change my mindset from being a simple worker to being a entrepreneur or the owner of my own job for several months. But as being worker in my whole life (I am 37 now) it really costs me to change my mindset, I am aware that this change will require some time. I've been watching your illuminating videos for several days. I admire you more as I watch more, because you are sharing many valuable experiences that maybe you've been in trouble as well while trying to reach where you are now. You might have been an uncocerned one and don't give a shit for what other people is through but in contrast, you choose to give off of your valuable time to advise and help others so that they can succeed in their very own journey. That's why I appreciate you from the bottom of my heart. Thank you so much for doing this and being a bona fide. Although you've covered many common topics for the developers I'd like to hear your valuable exclusive advices for (microcontroller level) embedded developers (like me) on how they would be able to gain their independence from being a simple worker with a minimum capital possible. Take care!

    Key difference here is that although there are higher failure rates in SAAS, but it is highly scalable, whereas your approach is not so scalable, as it requires individual consulting

    • @Bgo_J
      @Bgo_J 2 дні тому

      That being said, while SaaS does have a higher ceiling (and I point this out in my videos), it also comes with greater upfront risks and development time. My approach, focusing on consulting, provides quicker cash flow and allows you to build expertise, credibility, and a client base before scaling up. Once you've established those foundations, it's much easier to transition into scalable models like SaaS, where you can leverage your existing knowledge and network for faster growth. So yes, SaaS is scalable, but consulting gives you a more manageable entry point, especially when you're just starting out.

    Can it be both true? I remember Carl Newports book, be so good they can't ignore you. I just can't imagine what you are suggesting like 70% communication, 30% technical skills? I guess your perspective is softeng -> Manager then create a business? Whats our goal here?

    • @Bgo_J
      @Bgo_J 2 дні тому

      It’s definitely true that being excellent at your technical skills is important, but in today’s landscape, pure technical skills aren’t enough to stand out long-term. I’m not saying it’s a 70/30 split between communication and technical ability-it’s more about integrating both. Think of it like this: your technical skills get you in the door, but communication is what helps you thrive in complex roles, lead projects, or even launch a business. It’s not necessarily a linear path to management or entrepreneurship, but having strong cross-functional skills gives you options beyond just staying a developer. The goal? Future-proofing your career by being more than a typical dev.

    This is what I keep telling people. Make your SaaS an Internal Tool. Customers pay for the implementation. It’s called “Do It For Me.” That way you don’t have to build a perfect, robust customer facing tool. It can be a totally unfinished hack because you’re the only one using it. All they see is a form tied to Stripe and you can email them the result later - or have your tool do it once you approve the output. Then between jobs cleanup the code for your own sanity.

    For the first one you’re talking about (specifically the second part of explaining what they did and how they did it) isn’t this basically pseudocode? Like this is the whole reason why you need to do pseudocode for your projects so that people can use and understand your code. So what I’m asking is, do you mean communication through community?

    I think programmers need to collaborate with the rest of the team and do DESIGN THINKING for a successful life As someone with ASD it felt like the software engineers have similar issues with those with the Disorder ie. Not looking at the big picture and poor communication skills. Once you can understand your clients and end users you and solve the problems they face it could actually pay off

    it is the same for every field. when Individuals progress in their careers, the skill requirements often shift. While technical expertise remains essential, leadership skills, emotional intelligence, and the ability to collaborate become increasingly important in managerial roles. It’s not just about what you know; it’s also about how effectively you can lead and inspire others. Regarding coding and wealth, you’ve hit the nail on the head. Most people who code do it out of passion, curiosity, and a desire to create. While some software engineers do earn substantial salaries, many are motivated by the joy of problem-solving, building something meaningful, and contributing to the world of technology. And people don't code just to be rich

    The ability to communicate well about a problem or solution, requires not only pure communication skills but also domain knowledge and professional skills. When I moved from one industrial domain into another, much of my ability as a great communicator was undercut by the lack of substance in my conversation. I was able to grasp the higher level concepts, which are often very similar across the domains, but when it came to the intricate aspects of a problem, I was not nearly as effective in the new domain as before. Likewise, the art of coding and software engineering has evolved a lot since I last performed the action. My understanding of such art is more abstract and alas more superficial than it used to be. That's not to say you have to continue doing everything yourself. But the move to management (or "communication") comes with losses that you should not ignore, so that you can actively minimize those.

    Very valuable video! I’m just starting out on my computer science journey, and this video provided tangible steps, I can start implementing now. I’ve been solving problems for various businesses for years being a business consultant. Now that I’ve started programming, coding, and understanding more of the technical side of the strategy. I’m realizing that if I had the computer science skills that I’m learning now, I could’ve created the solutions myself. I will say, once I started learning how to code, my mind immediately expanded into the possibilities I now can do.

    Brilliant. I see there’s lot of benefits to this model for the right customer. 1) It’s “done for you”, client don’t need to fiddle with software. 2) You don’t need to make a polished UI. 3) You don’t need to polish code, if it goes wrong only you see it. 4) You can charge premium by selling a finished result VS a tool to get a result. I specially for developers that are not well versed in ux design, this is a great alternative pathway.

    It's a good approach when you already have a business and a product/service. Then automation will enhance your throughtput - so basically nothing new here ... The only reminder I would set here to all SW-Dev's is, creating a tool only used by yourself and being you the only interface makes it WAAAY more easier to develop than to create a full blow public product - we often tend to start a full product for ourselves and then never get it done.

    From my point of view it's not about which business to start as a software engineer but rather WHEN to start it. My first one was a SaaS business, which i founded while still being employed and it worked out fine, because instead of doing what you do, i basically did it the other way around. I started a SaaS business while doing consulting here and there to get some cashflow in and still keeping my normal job. Because i did it this way i don't have to rely on customers, because the SaaS is doing very fine and i can still do some consulting, which obviously doesn't scale at some point, because you only have the hours everybody has. I think it's more about where are you in your life and where you want to go for what reason. I never wanted to be a consultant and having to rely on customers, so my choice was the SaaS and i don't regret it. But i have to admit that if your goal is to not be an employee but start a business right away, the SaaS probably can't compete with the consulting model in 9/10 cases. Thanks for sharing this and best of luck with your business man 🙏
