    Maybe your "Customer" has been overloading his trailer and has caused the problem to be self inflicted ! Or , the old trailer was a POS to begin with !

    Why the manufacturer build a more durable trailer in the first place? Sure stuff break but if you already have the steel in hand then make it to the best not half arse🙄

    • @jamesanderson2176
      @jamesanderson2176 Рік тому

      It's easy to blame the engineer or the manufacturer, BUT: What was the trailer originally designed to do? What was its weight rating? How badly has it been abused? Did the guy drop a TREE on it at some point? Those cracks were probably caused by fatigue, likely from overloading.

      @@jamesanderson2176 yes I know what you mean but why isn't there a standardized built on which ever trailer has to be built. And have 2-3 different types of categories like light, heavy loading and special trailer. Job done. Than we don't have many manufacturers who often gives a 💩 about design and quality.

      Yeah the owner of the trailer admitted that he was hard on his equipment. The older trailer was made using 6" channel iron whereas his new skid steer trailer was made from 8" channel iron. It's stronger now than it was from the factory for sure.

    What wire you running brother

    • @BrentCameron
      @BrentCameron Рік тому

      At the beginning of the project I was running 0.035" 71T-GS self shielded flux core wire but it was too much spatter and sparks and it was making me nervous about the potential for a fire. There was a fair amount of foam insulation, plastic, etc underneath where I was welding and it just wasn't safe to use. I then switched over to 0.035" ER-70S6 MIG wire for the remainder of the project.

      You should never work under a camper supported by the stabilizer jacks. Those jacks were never meant to support the weight of the vehicle.

As a welder that weld puddle is where alot of the attention goes I’m pretty sure 90% of welders in every process wouldn’t even be a welder if it wasn’t for the weld puddle so just a tip bro but u do weld really good I respect u for that 👍🏽 keep up the good work

      Thank you for the complement and suggestion! This was my first video that I recorded, edited, and uploaded. My videos and how I record that content has improved, to a degree, since this video was produced. I've been an audio and video guy for over two decades at my church with access to professional recording equipment and a "near studio" quality type setup. Unfortunately, I don't have this kind of equipment while doing field work. As my business grows, I'll invest in more equipment that will allow me to produce better content with close up arc shots, better audio, and so forth. I have about a dozen more project videos that are recorded, as I have time I'll get them edited and uploaded to UA-cam. Thanks again for your input!

    Keep posting. You know what you're doing, & you're an excellent teacher. Remember that a lot of us DIY guys don't know how to do the stuff you show us, and rely on videos like yours to get our own stuff done, so maybe only use high speed video when it's obvious how to do what you're doing, & remember, many of us don't know the first thing.

      Thanks! For this particular repair, the customer and their employees were waiting on me (on company time) to get this repair done and get out of the shop. If I wasn't crunched for time, I would have recorded video clips with detailed explanations of what I'm doing, how I'm doing it, machine settings and whatnot. Thanks for your input though. It's appreciated. I have several more videos to produce that are currently in the works.

    I am not a fabricator but I was wondering would it have been better and stronger to just cut out that channel completely on the side and put in a piece of thick wall box tubing steel I don't know

    • @BrentCameron
      @BrentCameron 2 роки тому

      I didn't go that route due to the challenge of getting the length of the (new) frame to match the exact length of the factory frame rails and the time it would have taken to make sure everything was spot on before welding. Doable yes, but it would have added to the overall cost to complete the project. Going the route that I did, I added to what was already there from the factory.
