The delights is being human, if we’d just reached out. The wise have our souls. The timing was prefect. Just want more of their connection to grow but not explode.
thanks, @luguy8347. Really appreciate you taking the time to watch and to write
Good men are rare.
thanks for watching, @jane
🤣👏🏽👍 great story brilliant acting leaving us with love for life 😁 Thank You 🫶🥰
Glad you enjoyed it. Thanks for watching and writing.
@@jakeebright1041 😍
This is so cute. Loved it.
thank you 🙏
Very nice story 😊 definitely put a smile on my face. Thank you.
hey @jane-bk9, Appreciate you taking the time to write and glad you enjoyed it. You’re quite welcome.
Was it him as a baby in that photo? I kept waiting for some kind of revelation. I'll bet it's coming...
haha @jaxstorey6734, great thought there, will have to wait and see 😁
Charming film. Thank you so much.
You’re most welcome, Jean. Thanks for taking the time to watch and write.
It's an incredibly heartwarming film with outstanding performances! We are humans, irrespective of age, gender, or nationality; at the end of the day, we all need human connection, and it was beautiful to see in the film how that longing drives them to connect with each other. I loved the natural flow of conversations and laughs. It really left me wanting to see more of the characters, how their friendship develops, and how organically the layers of the story unravel. I loved it. Thank you :)
Hey @ashhilthakar980, thanks very much for watching and taking the time to write. And yup, that's really where the idea for the movie came from, a love for people and the kindness they can show for one another despite all their differences and challenges that appear to be keeping them apart
Jake you are very talented!!
haha thank you, @farokhnaegamvala1707. Appreciate you taking the time to stop by and write
This was an absolutely beautiful movie! I love how the woman and young man filled a void…a loss in each others life and a friendship evolved. And the acting was superb. Thank you for such a wonderful movie!
thanks, @Gus-x3z. Really glad you enjoyed it. We had a lot of fun making it together.
This is a great movie and pleasant to watch. No profanity. The characters are really decent and good hearted people.
thanks, @LNCMD2023, really glad you enjoyed it. And agreed, I really dig Ann’s character haha
This is soooo good. I want more of this story!!! ❤❤❤❤
thanks for watching and taking the time to write @freddyrodriguez4732. Working on bringing some more haha. Gotta see if the stars line up for us here, but giving it my best shot
@@jakeebright1041 very kind of you and you deserve it. it’s funny cuz these past two weeks I made a positive comment on two different indie shorts with only two characters playing off each other. But I received two totally different responses. One was more expensively produced with at least one face-recognition actor and yours, both unknown. The other one was quite high in drama, spooky, maybe sci-fi or supernatural. background in L.A., produced by a fancy person in L.A. Both young people producing these films. But when I commented on the other video about a book being referenced, the comment was deleted multiple times even after editing it. You however are very gracious. I also understand loads of social media nowadays employs AI (bots and “room helpers” LLMs and so on) I struggle with knowledge of injustice a lot. Whatever you do man, whatever happens,🤘 rock on and keep the faith. Your work and you are worth it!!!
Haha thanks, man. And yep, no fancy AI here, just me and the old keyboard 😁 Very much appreciate the kind words and wishing you the best as well, dude

Oop haha, my apologies
He's reminiscent of Vinnie Barbarino but he walks like Jim Morrison _ how kool is that!😍
haha thank you, @lcarole3131. I’ve gotten the John Travolta before but first time Jim Morrison. I’ll take it 😁
After a second watch after 6 months this video is still heartwarming ❤
Thanks for coming back for a second watch, @anjetka_2910, and for taking the time to write as well. Very appreciative of you and glad you still enjoyed it haha
It's all about compromise. She wanted something and made it to where it would be something that he would want to do.
Amen to that @FlyinDogRecords. All about meeting people on common ground and establishing some connection. Thanks for taking the time to watch and write
Wonderful acting, filming and genuineness in the story and characters.
thanks, @SusannahPerri. glad you enjoyed the story and really appreciate you having taken the time to write.
Mmm nice .. she was amaizing .. and he Is adorable good looking ❤

Amazing work! 🎬👏 Keep inspiring us! 🌟 What kind of camera and equipment did you use?

@@jakeebright1041 Would you like to do a podcast to share your experience of making this film?
It fell short of "glory" - but it was still pretty good. "And, we'll always have Paris."
hey @flamindigo, thanks for stopping by to watch and taking the time to write. And Glory, the civil war movie with Matthew Broderick?
what's with the bookstore WWll broadcast, I was so confused when this is supposed to be set...
Haha yeah can chalk that up to me learning how audiences take in the info presented in the film, whether it be sound, visuals, or dialogue and try to understand what's going on and where the film is supposed to be taking place. Some used bookstores I've been in have had old-timey music / radio type programs playing, so I figured it'd be kind of fun to have that as sort of background filler sound, but didn't realize that it'd cause confusion as to what time period the movie is set in. It's one thing to be told that every element going into the movie is important, but it's a different thing to learn it experientially as the one who is actually in charge of picking each of those elements and designing them for an impactful, entertaining film. Pretty cool stuff, making movies.
soulmates...
thanks for watching @irishvendy
When I was 19, I worked as a receptionist for a guy in his 60’s. I learnt so much from him and he gave me the confidence to go to university. I’m now a masters educated teacher about to turn 50. He sadly passed away about 15 years ago but I think about him often and the impact he had on my life. What a legacy to leave someone. LOVED this film.
That's beautiful @mjhay1830. And to think you may be that very same inspiration in some other young person's life is a cool thing. Makes one reflect on the circle of life and the people we're each lucky enough to meet, know, and love through the course of our lives. Thanks for stopping by to watch and write
There are shorts and there are shorts, this is above most, if not the best I have seen in a very long time. The acting, the script, the lot. Love it, saved.
much obliged @timothygreening875. Appreciate you taking the time to write and glad you enjoyed our little short
I loved this. I’ve had older friends my entire life and most of them are deceased now. My life has been so blessed I can’t help but think that they might be pulling for me on the other side, filling my life with so many wonderful things. I’m a big believer in karma for that very reason. When I was 36, my roommate was 92. We had a great time. Older people are more complex and interesting to me than younger people. I’m blessed to have known some great ones. ❤
Hey @thefilipinojoe, thanks for sharing about your life. I always feel like there's something cool about people who've been around the Earth a while. They always seem to me to be more open to connection, which is a really special thing. The people we come to know and love has to be the most important thing in life. Just spent time with my family back home and will always be thankful to have parents and brothers that I can sit with without saying a word and feel totally at peace with. Friends are like that, too. Family and friendship.
@@jakeebright1041 true.
When i learned that he lost his mother, and after the scene indicating she lost her son, the jabbing at the end of the kitchen scene made me cry.
thanks for writing @icedzinnia. Sorry to have made you cry haha but happy that you were affected by the story. The connection between Eli and Anne was an element of the story I thought was pretty cool and poetic, so I'm glad to hear it was impactful for you, too.
I think there needs to be a part 2, really enjoyed this!
Thanks @acer4237, working on it. Submitted first draft of the feature to the Academy Nicholl Fellowship this year. Still got work to do but really believe in the story, so hopefully we can get a little Good Will Hunting type action sometime in the future. Whatever the odds, a man can dream haha
This story caught my undivided attention today. It made me cry, then it made me smile, then it made me inspired, lots of emotions. But then it ended.....and I wanted and needed more of the story. Beautifully written, an engaging story for sure. Watching from Canada.
thank you for taking the time to write such a nice message, @lizharley5723. It’s an awesome thing that people who’ve never met can connect to a story in the same way. Reassures one’s faith in the future and in the human ability to come together to uplift one another and work towards good together.
what a pleasurable watch and lovely characterisation !!
Thank you kindly @medhadurge5332. Very much appreciate your time in watching and writing.

I’ve seen some of these clips before the one with the old lady near the end I loved that one when I watched the whole video you did on that 👌🏻
Well😂 what can I say it was different but it made me laugh😅
Jake, your story was both unexpected and classic, old and new, sympathetic and a bit discomforting. You are fiercely handsome, but your real beauty emerges when you smile and laugh. Thanks for this dramatization of age and personality. Keep writing and stay true to yourself...Bravo!
Hey, thanks, @pavenda1283. Really appreciate you taking the time to write and glad you enjoyed the watch. I'll take "fiercely handsome" any day haha. Much obliged.
brilliant, thanks to all envolved :-)

The interest grows with these two characters….Hey Jake, you need to go further with a chapter 2. Both well acted and give off a unicorn magic which draws you in wanting more with their friendship. That’s to you both. 👏👏👍👍❤️❤️🙏🙏

Noooooo!!! I wanted this to go on!!! I was so invested in each of these characters and the storyline!!! What a sweet, interesting short!! 💕💕💕
haha thanks, @GrandTime-17. Glad you liked it. Had a really awesome time making it and getting to see the story come to life. Thanks for watching and taking the time to write.
That was great, the dialogue and performances (especially Kris Ann Russell), felt totally real and naturalistic. You can always tell good acting when just the facial expressions and subtle body language of a character(s) speaks volumes. Really well done and keep up the great work, guys! 🙂👌
Hey Steve, thanks, man. I’ll let Kris know you said so haha. Really appreciate you giving it a watch and taking the time to share your thoughts.
@@jakeebright1041Hey Jake, any time, man! I am sure we won't be hearing the last from you guys?! 😀 P.S. I am also a 'movie connoisseur' 😉👌

Spectacular, well done 👍
Thanks, Shoot2Kill 🤘
This was really well done. I thought 20 minutes, I don't know if I want to give 20 mins but I have enjoyed short films before often because their character work is good. I don't have the skill myself but I know what I like in a story. I want to feel some reality I can relate to and also discover something that is foreign to me that I can experience here I can't get in my own life. This achieved both those things strange yet achingly familiar. I laughed at a couple of points audibly and I cried for a moment as they spoke in the kitchen of those that had gone. I smiled a lot and willed the characters to take actions I wanted to see. This ability to involve someone in the story emotionally is what I see as the most effective form of story telling. I don't know about camera angles, set dressings, good and bad dialogue or effective use of music but something in all of this along with the good acting on behalf of the leads really conveyed the story you wanted to tell. Congratulations! I hope that you love that other people are enjoying the story you have woven together and feel every bit of the satisfaction of the art you have spent time making and sharing.
Haha dang, thanks, Trisjack20. Really appreciate you taking the time to write such a nice comment. That's very cool you enjoyed it and that you were affected so much by the characters and the story. I love hearing that people really connected to it because I had such a fun time creating it from start to finish. Looking forward to making more in the future. Thanks for stopping by to watch.

Thanks for watching and taking the time to write, @sheelinn2752. My pleasure to share it. And oh, that would be cool. What language were you hoping for subtitles in?
Thank you for replying to the comment@@jakeebright1041 English subtitles would do, no specific other language. If it was possible, that would be great.
of course, and hmm, just tried fiddling with the settings but not sure if it worked

I don't know of this woman, but she gives us an absolutely AMAZING performance. @18:25: I bet few caught it because it only lasts a second or two, but the book he pulls out of her memory case is not just any random prop book, but "The Beauty Queen of Leenane"; part 1 of a trilogy of Irish plays by Martin McDonagh. It takes an amazing mind to take the time to slip in little tidbits that make a scene so authentic. Very well done.
Hi Tj, that's Kris Ann Russell as Anne and very keen eye on the Martin McDonagh spotting haha. You're the first person who noticed and called it out. Bravo, sir. Thank you very much for watching and taking the time to write.
i think she's great... he voice is terrible
I’m feeling like her personality in real life is similar to her character: she’s a good, sweet human I’m willing to bet. Just me daydreaming, though. 💙

one word "Brilliant"
Haha thanks, Paul. Appreciate you stopping by to give it a watch and for taking the time to write as well.
I like this one, I hope you follow up with it. Not sure how you would though w/o it being like so many other sequels, which suck because they try to hard, to be the original, if you understand what I am trying to say, but this was a very well put little short, liked it a lot. Mayabe some scenes of them doing their thing and they get on a little bit with what their lives were like, maybe one with her and her husbands loss, him with his moms loss, which brings them together, she becomes like the mom he lost, he, not so much the husband part but the man in the house she wants.. type thing. Thank you for this.
Hey aarons, thanks for watching. Stay tuned over the next few years. Hoping to get the feature script I just finished turned into a real movie. We'll see, gonna give it the best shot I've got haha
