You have like, such a similar voice to the channel "In Deep Geek"
Standard Queen's / BBC English, I believe would be the technical term ;)
I have near all of the explanations of the first edition, true morgue, prison, characters, dog companions, dog zombies... I'm trying to adapt the rules to the second edition but I'm not sure if it's best to let the old rules out try to adapt something or try to adapt what i can. What did you think it's the best change for the first to the second?
Where did you get this please? I can’t find it in stock anywhere in Europe / UK.
Mine came through Kickstarter with their latest expansion, but the retail restock will be soon - Zatu listing as December, for instance, at least for the base game, and presumably the expansions will be restocked with it.
yeah, mine just arrived last week from kickstarter. I got the base game a year ago from my local games and stuff store in the US. I think now that the kickstarter is being delivered, you may be able to order it from restoration games soon or find it at your local games store if they purchased any to sell.
@@jeremyjedlicka1473 thanks man. I’ll be keeping my eyes peeled in the new year.
Wow...this came out like 2 years ago.
Gosh, you should see how old some of my other reviews are! Seriously though, I only just got it in the latest Kickstarter for the fifth expansion. And I'm sure some others haven't heard of it yet! Maybe next week I'll review Catan ;)
It was just released last year, not 2 years ago. But the latest kickstarter with the newest expansion Carnival of Chaos including everything you can own for this game just started being delivered last week when he did the review.
Like how you said that TRV isn't going to win any award for strategy while it actually won the best strategy game at American Tabletop Awards 😂
Seriously? This is a kids game from the 80's...I guess it shows the state of board gamers today if something like this qualifies as "strategy". The amount of randomness is off the charts with all of the dice rolling involved.
Hah! Did Zombicide win the award for best storytelling, too? ;)
LOL. Those awards aren’t serious anyway.
Great review. Nice and succinct
Wait a damn second. The games has hexes. I see a ruler. Why is there a ruler in this game with HEXES?
Excellent question: units move with one ruler and measure LOS with another, but hexes determine some ranged effects (like hacking), megabeast attacks, and terrain types (like all mining zones suddenly blow up in some event). It's a bit convoluted.
@TabletopDungeon Oh no. Thanks for answearing, that is a total deal breaker.
How do they compare to Massive Darkness tho
That's a tricky question, both are similar yet completely different! I have Massive Darkness 2, but didn't really enjoy it. It felt like Massive Darkness 2 leans more into RPG mechanics, but only very superficially. Zombicide base game is unashamedly just mowing down zombies - a beer and pretzels game. The campaigns give you more RPG-lite elements, but still very basic. Massive Darkness 2 felt like constantly chasing Diablo-style loot drops. There's loot in Zombicide, but once you got a good weapon you're more interesting in strategising the mission goals. Zombicide is more accessible, with the same rules for everyone. Massive Darkness was a nightmare for me having to explain the unique character rules to each player.
Love this! Really appreciate you covering so much Zombicide stuff PLUS loving your content on the campaigns!
5 years later and I’m finally playing it
Hi! I'm new to the Zombicide universe and I'm thinking on buying Army of the Dead but... I feel it needs more type of zombies. Would you happen to know if an expansion like Fort Hendrix would be playable? Because I know that's for the 2nd edition. But... I'm just wondering: Would it be possible or nah?
No, because those expansions need the game tiles in the original 2nd edition. The card backs are all different too, so you'd be messing around with sleeving them to make it the same... . Army of the Dead is a complete, standalone game. Any reason not to just get 2nd + expansions, are you dead set of Army of the Dead theme?
@TabletopDungeon It just looks a bit more simple and an all-in-one package. Plus I don't have that much space to have too many expansions anyway. I thought Army would be a good introducty; looks good but I just see the downside of zombie variety. I might just buy some zombie packs and create a house rule to introduce them or something.
i'm a bit of an old head in the Zombicide community. i prefer the G1 version. does anyone know of any support or suggestions for building off the classic style?
Here you go, best resource on t'interwebs: zombicidefans.com/?games-settings=classic-zombicide
Army of the dead for me, loved the movie and i have to get the board game. It looks really good from what ive seen aswel👍😎
I've been saving up Amazon affiliate vouchers for this one, but I'm not entirely sure I can justify yet more zombicide :( Lol, who am I kidding, of course I can!
Haha yes of course you can, apparently from what ive seen on the reviews of army of the dead and watching some playthroughs, its the most difficult zombicide, even tougher than undead or alive, and some really cool changes. Its a must buy🤣😎
Great coverage of what the various expansions add but it was really hard to focus on what you were saying with all of the (imho unnecessary) background noise. If you're demoing a game those backing sounds effects would add atmosphere but here it interferes with the otherwise excellent information you're trying to deliver.
Thank you for the feedback, and noted!
I have a question, I can't find anywhere so... maybe you can help me with this one Can me and my friends make our own characters? Idk, a Link or a guide to help me ;-; (Not from Rio but still from Brasil LOL <3)
Hmm. There are blank templates available: www.zombicide.com/blank-cards-2/ - and fan made PSD ones here - drive.google.com/drive/folders/1ptuQiM7ac69UDbC65nlYMc1Q0UFXWGDX . There's a skills reference sheet here: boardgamegeek.com/filepage/221361/zombicide-2nd-edition-skills-reference-sheet But your biggest issue will be that of balancing. It might be best to copy one of the official characters, then just change your own name/portraits in. You can probably safely swap around ultra-red skills, but I wouldn't mess with basic first level skills, or you risk making something overpowered.
Great video and very well explained. Any news about Pariz?
Nothing official, but I see a couple of preorder pages that have a date listed of 25/1/25, so a while away yet. Longer than I was expecting, anyway.

I live in Canada. I put down 90 USD July 7 2019 for the early legendary pledge. I finally received the rest of the last of the Kickstarter items last week. For the price, the miniatures are worth it alone if you wanted to use them for DND tabletop gaming. However had I known it would take almost 5 years to fulfill, I may have thought twice about the Kickstarter.
Hah, mine too. I'll just sell this on now. Definitely good value minis!
This presenter is world class and so few subs? I wish him every success!
Aww, thanks for the kind words! :)
I thought I was listening to a BBC presentation! @@TabletopDungeon
If you think Undead or Alive is just a spin-off and don't deserve your attention, you are clearly missing something you may like, as you liked Invader. UoA introduces Classes for survivors (Invaders had 2 "Classes", UoA has 5), it's set in a Western era, but the expansion is a Steampunk setting! It's been the more difficult Zombicide, until Army of the Dead. The campaign mode works the same as in 2nd Ed. I really reccomend it. Take an eye on It!
Totally fair about the mechanics - I'd probably enjoy those. It's just the theme I really dislike! If i see a bargain I'll pick it up though :)
How does the expansions really work? You have the base game and than you can add stuff to the new map or do you have the normal map of 2nd Edition and than you mix up the campains or something? I didn't understood it well i think.
The campaign expansions typically add a few new tiles, some more characters, and replace the original equipment decks - and sometimes more unique tokens and rules etc. You use all the zombie miniatures from the base game, the spawn cards, plus the tiles, markers, tokens etc. So the campaign missions consist of a mix of components from the base game and expansion tiles. That's if you're playing through the campaign of course - if you're just doing a one-off game, you can mix and match anything you like from the expansions, and ignore the bits you don't like. Soldier zombies, for instance.. .a lot of people hate those! I tend to use the equipment decks from expansions even with the base game now, since it adds "all out" mechanics, where there's a chance your weapon breaks in exchange for a few more dice on your attack.
I think i will buy the 2nd Edition of Zombicide. I really want to play this game and i love Zombie related Stuff. The Pariz campain seems cool as well, as half of my familiy is french :D
What about Zombicide Cthulhu edition?? Fighting hordes of undead cultists with "Old ones" abominations. Loads of mission possibilities. Could be cinematic fun. 🤞🤞🤞
I think the only problem with that is that Cmon already has a Cthulu Death May Die game - I'd expect a crossover pack letting you use those in Zombicide rather than a full game edition.
@TabletopDungeon true that. I know it is highly highly unlikely........ Just thought it would be really cool. Thanks for replying. Appreciate it 🙏
The game was an absolute slog. It felt like an unfinished mess and I would never use it as a gateway game and definitely won't ever play it with more serious gamers. It is incomprehensible to me, how people can actually enjoy this game.
That's a shame - are you a fan of engine builders, generally? I certainly wouldn't choose to play this given so many other choices, but I wouldn't say no if someone wanted to.
Thank you for the great tips! Do you have any tips or video on calculating the farmers? I can never calculate them right when i play online…
I think it was the iPad app that made it really clear for me, as it scans around each farmer and counts each castle. IRL, I find it easiest to find the edge of their field, and follow it all the way around, counting how many unique completed castles it touches - then do any in the middle that you missed.
@@TabletopDungeon okay, thats great i’ll try that out. Thanks
very good video thanks, but i have a question, are the campaigns played with the survivors of said campaign (I ask because of the fact that a story is told) or can they be mixed with those from the base game or other campaigns?
It's not specified that you *have* to play with the survivors from the set, but I would recommend doing your first playthrough with them just because it's in theme, if that makes sense. But after that, I just mix and match. I have so many additional survivors anyway with the Kickstarter reboot box that we can always play a new character, and have a large graveyard of those who died in past attempts!
@@TabletopDungeon thanks
I agree that the campaign adds a HUGE value and amount of fun to the zombicide. I play regular 2nd edition with first timers, and the campaign with my regular parties. However, Washington ZC is by far the best campaign/expansion in my opinion... I really disliked Fort Hendrix ranged zombies and mechanics... I just haven't played RioZ yet, because I'm from Brazil and I didn't find the theme or survivors appealing at all to me at least....
The ranged soldier guys are definitely divisive, and I can see why you might not like the RioZ one. Not sure how I'd feel about a London expansion, but I expect I'd love running around and doing my best cockney accent.
Shame

So, which of the 2nd edition expansions have campaigns?
I have just the video for you! ua-cam.com/video/IGpC_2UMT4g/v-deo.html
@@TabletopDungeon Thanks bud!
White Death will have a campaign, thats one of the main reasons I picked it up. its a monk type setting with chi skill cards and statues. if its as good as 2.0 i think we will be in for a treat
Just to note for anyone scanning the comments, that's a part of the Eternal Empire expansion, not the base game. But yeh, really excited for white death!
Yeah the base game won’t have a campaign, but the expansions in the all-in pledge will have campaigns
We only love the first edition because a survivor has only 2 lives and CAN BE KILLED! We looove that! Plus the 2d edition is wayyy too easy!
You can make it much harder with some house rules
I have the first edition too but with 3 lives instead of 2, but if someone dies, it spawns as an abomination with free movement rules and the heavily to control the movement of the zombies in his own tile.
What are all the expansions for the 2nd edition core game? I’m trying to build a huge map to play on using all the base set and expansion sets. Is that possible to do? or would some of the cards in the expansion sets mess up the overall gameplay?
In terms of new tiles, all of the campaign expansions I outline here - ua-cam.com/video/IGpC_2UMT4g/v-deo.html , plus the 2nd Comic Book pack (if you can find it). There's also a separate "tiles pack" which is just a duplicate of all the base game tiles specifically so you can use both sides to build a huge map. In terms of card decks: - anything with additional zombie types can be added right in; soldiers from Washington ZC, extra abominations, etc. Not a problem there. You might also consider the "Complete 2nd Edition Upgrade Kit", which has a bunch of zombie spawn cards for zombie types from the first edition (but you don't have to own the first edition of course, if you have another set of zombie minis somewhere you could use those instead, as long as they're different colors). - Item decks in the campaigns replace the original item deck because they have the "all out" mechanic; a supercharged attack with the possibility the weapon wil break. You could combine multiple campaign decks without issue though, or customize it. Same goes for the super weapons, they replace the original deck. On a large map, you'd need to use multiple sets from campaing expansions to accomodate all crates. Basically, keep the oiginal item decks in the box, only use those fom expansions. - Camapign expansions would also add day/night cycle, wound deck, and special item decks (secret service, amy stuff) Hope that helps!
Those 'airdropped specialist' card quite annoying. Some or perhaps all Zombie heros might end up dead.😅
Daily reminder that punching nazis is always ethical. Also ONE sculpt per enemy!?!?!?!? Oof. I really love making my hordes in zombicide look as diverse as possible. Although I suppose I could use the same sort of painting scheme tricks to make models look a little different even if they're the same sculpt. Then again that's usually having different skin tones..... and the nazis were all kinda the same tone weren't they. Cuz nazis. This game looks DOPE though!!!!
All of them. Except Marvel. Just not a fan of the super hero thing. I WILL be getting "The Boys" models though cuz that show is dope!
I really wish they’d update Toxic Mall or something similar to integrate with 2nd ed. The only thing I think it’s missing is variety of zombies
If you still have your copy, the Complete Upgrade Kit does that! amzn.to/3WqVSLO - lots of different zombie types you can bring in.
Yeah and i cant find toxic mall😢 they should remake it for new players..

This or Aliens another glorious day in the corps ?
I haven't played it, but watching a review of it - ua-cam.com/video/Nbu3z-0xTC0/v-deo.html - there seems to be a lot ...less to the game. According to BGG it's a little more complex, but just seems to be smaller scale, space hulk style fighting inside the ship. It doesn't appeal to me, but it depends how much you want the official storyline and characters.
