I lost weight in not the healthiest way so now I am trying to learn how to keep it while still caring for my body. :)
@@marta6755 hahaha… Marta, You're Awesome!! I really hope the info helps you maintain your weight loss. I know it's no fun keeping the carbs & fat to a certain amount (most of the time😉) but ultimately it's the only way to keep from gaining the weight back (as you know). We can do it!! 🤗
As far as I know, the soluble fiber that IS used by gut bacteria results in short chain fatty acids, not sugars. That's not relative to carbohydrate count.
true, however the calories have to be accounted for somewhere. it would get too complicated to "completely subtract all fiber grams to get a more accurate carb count and then add 0.222 grams of fat for every gram of soluble fiber that's in the product."
When I first started Keto, I pretty much decided not to buy 'keto' products because of the unclear nature of labeling. Maltitol is particularly bad from what I've seen on glycemic charts and it seems to be the go-to sugar alcohol for most manufacturers. I sympathize with people who are trying all these dubious low carb packaged foods as it's very confusing.

Thank you for a clear explanation of these ingredients. And your pacing is perfect. For me I will avoid anything with sugar alcohol or allulose. That leaves the fiber question. Will subtract 2 cal. Simple for me.
Hi Margie! Thanks for your comment. When you wrote that you'll "subtract 2 cal" did you mean "subtract 2 calories for every Gram of Fiber"? (that's what I hope came across in the video.) Based on other comments, I think I might've confused some people with the video. Teaching in video format takes some getting used to. I'll keep working on it. 😂

I started using the net carbs with some things like tortillas. I always avoid to eat the packed net carb stuff, and I rather make my treats when I want one (occasionally). I rather eat wholesome low total carb foods. I always though that net carbs is not precise and checking my BG gives me not so good results. Great explanation!

Calculator! This was interesting, thank you. I stumbled across your channel recently and although I cheated and watched this one out of sequence, I have been generally watching your videos in order and taking proper lessons and learning quite a bit. Thank you. I am 56, 5’4” and have lost a bit over 30 lbs since January. I am sitting at about 127/128 right now and so continuous learning and fine tuning my methods is very helpful.

I use just 1/2 scoop in the morning, and it seems to be helping my joints be less achey in the mornings. I know that I should probably be following a 1200 calorie diet, and I have watched your videos recommending no more than 10-15 g of fat per meal, as well as watching the carbs, and upping protein. However, my husband is 6'4 with a muscular build. He also needs to lose some weight. Are the recommendations different for men? Can he have more simply because it seems like it would take more to fuel him?

The limit of 10 - 15 g fat per meal is for 1200 - 1800 calories a day… with 30% of the calories coming from fat and dividing your food into 4 meals/day (or 3 meals + 2 snacks) (I explain that in this short 1 minute video... ua-cam.com/video/KuVd2M1ORDg/v-deo.html based on American Heart Association guidelines). To see what your husband needs, use the calorie calculator from this video… ua-cam.com/video/UGwRx84ibt0/v-deo.html The link to the calculator is in the pinned Comment…. here you can enter your husband's height, weight and age. When you select his exercise level, estimate it LESS than what he currently does (because sometimes these calculators factor in a little too many calories to fuel the exercise). Once you have his calories for weight loss, you can figure out his grams of nutrients. If you want 30% of calories from fat…. total calories x 0.3 = calories from fat then... calories from fat divided by 9 = grams of fat.⭐ If you want 45% calories from carbs… total calories x 0.45 = calories from carbs then... calories from carbs divided by 4 = grams of carbs. ⭐ If you want 25% calories from protein… total calories x 0.25 = calories from protein then…. calories from protein divided by 4 = grams of protein. ⭐ Now that you know his limits for fat, carbs, and protein for the day, you can distribute the grams evenly throughout all his meals/snacks. 🙂 (if your doctor or personal dietitian recommends different %s, then of course use those %s instead)

Hey my dietician pal! Okay i bought a sample of nutrisystem frozen food on Amazon and i stocked up on grocery store food too! I am going to do 1500 cal a day, three meals and 3 snacks. Also at least 4 servings of vegetables and 1 or 2 fruits. Sound good?? Oh and plenty of h2o too
Joe!! Dude!! Sounds like you have an excellent plan!! Remember to take at least 20 minutes to eat a meal because it takes the stomach 20 minutes to realize there's food in there. If you are still hungry AFTER 20 minutes passes, you can either grab more vegetables, drink coffee/tea/any sugar free drink, and/or add a fiber supplement to bulk up the contents in your stomach (BUT if you take any medications ALWAYS check with your pharmacist to find out which fiber supplements will not interfere with your medications). So if I'm following at 1500 calorie diet - and I should aim for 20 grams of protein per meal, should I be incorporating 20 grams in my breakfast, lunch, dinner and snack? Or only breakfast, lunch, and dinner? (Same question for fat). Because a snack drops by 15g in the carbohydrate category...
Hi Paul! Since this video, I refined things a little. I suggest watching this video ua-cam.com/video/2ILuyKjx-mw/v-deo.html so you can see the 2 options for a 400 calorie meal setup. Also figure out how much protein you specifically need (it's usually On Average 1.3-1.5 g protein/kg of Adjusted Body Weight… i explain Adjusted Body Weight in this video ua-cam.com/video/QWqjtfaBav4/v-deo.html). Now that you have your protein calculated & you know how to set up a 400 calorie meal with the protein you need, "weight loss research" recommends 4 equally sized meals in the day (or if your lifestyle works better with 3 meals & 2 snacks, take 1 of those 400 calorie meals and split all the nutrients roughly in half into 2 snacks). Keep in mind, it doesn't have to be perfect, just "close enough." I hope you like the 400 calorie meal design in the suggested video… i hope it gives you a general structure to focus on.

Only gives .5 /#s not what for 1.0/#s to loose. Do I subtract 250 calories to loose more? I saw you said -500 calories per #. I fond your videos very helpful.❤❤❤
Hi Theresa!😃 You are 100% correct when you wrote -500 calories per #. And you are 100% correct that if you subtract 250 calories you would lose another 0.5/# by the end of the week. If subtracting 250 calories puts you below 1200 calories a day, make sure you are getting all the protein you need, and you might need to take a multivitamin plus extra calcium, vitamin D, and vitamin B12. (check with you doctor or personal dietitian). I hope you have a happy & healthy week!!💙
