Yes, you really "need" just 1 or 2 guitars if you're an amateur hobbyist. But like me I'm a hobbyist but also a collector, so I got 16 guitars. I "want" to experience what it feels to play this and that guitar so I acquired 1 (1 for each type of Brand and 1 for each Major tuning).🤭 - 1 Fender Stratocaster (Standard Tuning) - 1 Telecaster - 1 Yngwie "scalloped" Stratocaster (Eb Tuning) - 1 Gibson Les Paul Standard Sunrise burst (Standard) - 1 Gibson 1959 Vintage Burst (Drop D) - 1 Ibanez RG (shredding) - 1 ESP - 1 Suhr Modern Pro - 1 Jackson - Bass - and many others that I forgot the names. So there' you only need One...... One Guitar for each brand and type.😄💯✌
Definitely agree with you mate. Gibson Les Pauls are "bank busters".🤭 When "GAS" hits, I had no choice but to acquire one. hahaha😅 Also the G-String problem is an engineering mistake since 1958 but the more it goes out of tune the more expensive it becomes because that's "Vintage" feature.😁, owners should appreciate and live with it. But I want to share a trick I did to mine to eliminate this issue by a whooping 97%. First is to install a "Graphite Nut". It's hard and rare to find, (a Pro Luthier created one for me) but the alternative is the Tusq XL nut by Graphtech then slot it sideways like this -> / to the direction of the G-string tuner instead of straight. Mine doesn't go out of tune always, it still goes out of tune if you do full step bends, but at least tuning issues are not that prominent.👍 Weight and body weight can also be reduced through custom "chambering" but it will further bust your pockets.😆 Finally, headstock breakage is deadly to the resale value. Avoid having it bumped with your life or else the $5,500+ value plummets. Cheers my friend.👌 SUBSCRIBED!💯
Damn, this pedal dooms!
OH FUCK i commented too quick the babicz bridge will fix ur trem problems
this guy is a cool guy (no sarcasm i agree as an owner of an aerodyne HSS and a strat w custom shop texas special single coils he is right 1000%)
I've just bought an SG and it sounds awesome but I still have that G string tuning problem 😢
Can you please 🙏🏻 Do tell your girlfriend on guitar
I was given a Les Paul studio wine red color and I love it, I do miss the prs silver sky se I used to have ,, those are sup light to play with
Man what a great present to get. Enjoy that bad boy!
@@guitarwalljams thank you 😊
I’m with you, my friend I love the Les Pauls and the Tellis definitely struts have their places, but they were guitar. You got work to love.
Well, that will convince Slash! (NOT) To each their own. Try out before buying and find what guitar works best for you.
Haha, thanks for the conclusion, I thought you actually hate the strats, watched the video to the end because I love my Fender Strats (particularly the Fender Yngwie Malmsteen signature scalloped neck and the Master built Custom Shop). They are awesome guitars, the coolest guitars you will have. They don't have "hum" or noise because the pickups are "noiseless", The original Strat sound without the hum. The controls are also amazing, you can choose the tone for each song better, and this is the only guitar where you can do the "Volume swell" trick that you will not be able to do on other models (you may, but it's very hard, won't work well on my Ibanez, ESP and Gibson's). As for the trem, you can replace the stock bridge with a "2 point trem" or block rollers. With that said, Fender Strat is simple the best, and it rules!.🤘 Cheers!💯
My man thank you for watching the video til the end! People think I hate the Strat not even watching the video. I appreciate you dude thanks for the pointers on how to make mine better...maybe you should make your own video! Cheers
@@guitarwalljams It's a pleasure mate👌, you are welcome☺, I appreciate that I was able to help with my pointers and thank you for this nice Strat video. You have a great guitar collection behind you. Will also watch your other videos...cheers, my friend.
G string problem has already been solved... where do live lol 😆
10 minutes and 30 seconds of my life I'll never get back. Digging pretty deep to nitpick a legendary guitar. I'm still thrilled to own an LP and I'm probably going to keep it
you only need 1 guitar. just buy the best one, and enjoy
i owned 4 les pauls, every single fucking one of them just couldnt stay in tune
Hey AJ. Enjoyed hearing you perspective. I guess I am sort of a "strat guy". I've owned way too many over the years, and I still own 3 of them. Anyway, it is definitely possible to set up a floating trem to stay in tune. I float all of my strat bridges without any tuning stability issues, including my vintage style strats with vintage (non-locking) tuners, string trees, and 6 screw bridges. I'm surprised to hear that your guitar guy couldn't set it up to stay in tune. Is the knife edge worn out on the 2-point trem? If the knife edge gets worn out and dull, it will never stay in tune.
As a strat guy, i love your honest and brutal review 👍
Both are out of tune
I own a LP Special that doesn't have the "G-string" issue. While certainly overpriced, Gibson's QC is without doubt extremely problematic. Look o Eastman, Asia's "Gibson-Killer." Custom Shop / Murphy Lab quality at a third of the price (if not more).
8:00 i am using the 86's Japan Heavy Metal Strat with Floyd rose trem and lock. It stay in tune in normal use, but pain in the butt changing strings.
You need to get a new tech. Your g string problem is not a design flaw, that's ridiculous. I have a Les Paul Deluxe, an SG Standard and an SG Junior. They stay in tune fine, no tricks, no weird lubes. Just take proper care of your guitars.
If the G string could not stay in tune, I think Slash would have complained… I’ve heard nothing yet! 🤣
Why spend all that money when you can buy a way better guitar for the same or less money? Also they haven’t fixed its issues at all, its been decades, wouldn’t even bother with them honestly.
if 1 or 2 lbs make ot breaks you.....Get a New Hobby....I have degenerative disk Disease and still play my Double Neck EDS-1274 at a Whopping 12.4 LBS....Your seriously Crying over 8 9 or 10 lbs? hahahaha Oh and I am OLD too.....Pushing 58 wand also have stage 4 Emphysema.....If I can do it then you should be able to as well. if you cant handle the weigh of a Gibson then go buy a $199 Jackson lol.
I've owned at least 50 Gibson SG's - Les Palus's - and other models and have Never had a problem with the "G-String" out of tune or a Head Stock Break because I take good care of my guitars........GIBSON IS THE BEST IN THE BUSINESS PERIOD.
Three additional reasons a Les Paul is superior tto a Stratocaster - the flatter 12" radius fretboard allows for a lower action without fretting out while bending strings; larger frets are easier to play and don't wear out as fast, and a wider neck width at the nut, which again makes it easier to play.
Agreed
I own both and I see your side of the debate. The wider figure board is a major plus. Then the weight brings them back to level.
The Les Paul is considerably heavier, often by well more than a pound or 2. That is a bigger physical demand, but doesn't make a difference when sitting. I have both dogs in this fight and love them both.
I had a LP studio and didn't like it. Sold it and bought a Vintage brand LP gold top. It plays so much better and sounds better at a fraction of the cost.
Was a smashing pumpkins fan since a teen. Not anymore. I stopped listening after Darcy wasn’t in anymore.
I played a Gibson Les Paul sitting on those barstool chairs. Man I couldn't get comfortable without the thing falling off my leg. I love the sound but not the actual thing.
What's going to solve all your troubles, instead of trying to convert the Strat into a Gibson, just play a Gibson.
He did the same style video on Gibson! He has 5 reasons he wouldn't buy it! He doesn't know what he wants! Quityerbitchin' and build a better instrument.
I am with you on the SSH. But I love the sound of the neck and the neck/mid settings. Having a humbucker in the bridge makes all the difference though. And I prefer noiseless single coils on my strats.
G-String tuning issues: Of course I know it … but let me tell you my personal experience: It’s always “setup” or overall quality of the instrument. I own for the first time ever a custom shop Gibson and this one has absolutely no intonation issues at all. I can bend the hell out of this thing… nothing happens to the tuning stability. The same thing is with my second Gibson, who is a real vintage 50’s Gibson Jazz Guitar. No issue at all! Absolutely 0% problems around tuning and intonation. If your Gibson just don’t stay in tune or the G-String is making trouble … it’s poor overall quality of the parts, or a bad setup… that’s at least my experience after more than 20 years doing this. Get a professional setup and let a high skilled tech working on it. I love Gibson 🤝 And it’s always possible to get em working good 👍😎
Don't listen to him. Buy a Strat!
All of the things you think are wrong with the strat, are all the reasons why I love the strat.
Try the YJM fury bridge pickup. Best “single coil” heavy bridge pickup I’ve ever used.
Exactly, the YJM Fury is the ultimate and best single coil pickup, not just for the bridge but even for the neck and middle. It's also "noiseless" so I don't have any problem with the noise. 🤘
@@2good2betrue3 I’ve never tried the DiMarzio injector, I’ve heard it’s as good as the fury. Have you?
When I was a teen I had a strat and always wanted a Les Paul. Took me until 28 years old to realize I dont really care for em. I couldn't believe it but I turned into a strat guy
AJ, what are the alternatives, you're suggesting over Gibson LP? I like LP, also. I can't imagine I'm playing no-humbuckers guitar, only. So, please, give your thoughts over alternatives... Thanks man!
PRS CE-24 and ESP E-II
About the tone controles, the original configuration is even worse. The middle one is for the neck pu, the one most down is for the middle pu, while the bridge pu needs rolling down on treble frequencies the most. Easy to fix, but I cannot understand Fender took so long to understand this flaw in their stock Strat models. Still, I have three Strats and a few alike ones.
I stretch my strings. My cheap Strat copies all stay in tune.
I use humbucker in bridge, Floyd Rose and can keep it in tune . Not a fan of the three knobs and find I accidentally hit the volume knob and turn it down when I don’t want to. So I use two knobs, volume with a master tone and have them further away.
Nobody should buy a guitar for several thousand dollars, that can‘t hold tuning for more than 10 seconds, and has a headstock that breaks when you look at it funny.
A Tele would sound worse with a distortion pedal on the bridge
Ive put a Floyd on 🙈
10 reasons not to take any notice!😒👎🏽
No. Delete this
Only one reason and one reason only: If you can't afford a guitar made by Gibson Custom.
Same thing happened with my Strat trem. Brought it back to my set up guy and he told me to go home and use it and retune it five times a day for a week and it will stop going out of tune. And he was right... You have to use it, not sure why but he was right.
Springs need to break in.
Nice !! I really wanna learn this solo but not without the whammy pedal.. what model is it ??
Very simple solo to pull off! Not sure the model, it’s older I’ve had since 2008’ish.
I just traded my Strat for a Les Paul 😅
Maybe that Fender is great but FYI... Fender isn't the only brand that makes fantastic strats... I had a Fender AP2 and it was kaka! I now rock a Tokai Goldstar Sound in a gorgeous cherry finish and mann! It's incredible; even the br pup! Fender would charge 2350.00 100% Btw... have you lubed your Les Paul nut slots with graphite yet? 😊
