AlumaShade "Freestanding Instructions"
Do you have a material and supplier list from this job ? I have a very similar sunroom but without some of the trim bells and whistles . Thank you
We sell DIY kits online. In the instructions on the “info” page you can see a list of parts that come with a kit
I have similar roof pans over the shed of my double wide in FL..... 1. There's a leak on the inside at the pan joint. How do you find that leak point on the outside? 2. Once the leak point is found, how do you seal it if you can't reach it from the ladder? (you can't walk on mine like on some vids, it's too weak, I'd fall through) 3. What sealant should be used?
Did you seal the roof with any product to keep it from dripping condensation water
I'm an installer, yes we use a high quality caulk that matches the color of the panels we are sealing. Every seam and every screw gets caulking.
U only screw the pans at each end , and after u put up all of the decking then you screw all of them
you need to screw together the interlock every 32" on the pans, so you would also need to do that as you build it
You need to stagger those lag bolts; otherwise, the ledger board weakens in the middle and is more prone to split (rip in half).
exactly, good point!
Stagger line vertically, up and down so that it’s not always in the middle all the way across? First time trying to build one. Thank you for the video it’s very helpful
You really thought me what I need it. “How to find the ledger board”. Thanks my friend

Why do so much work installing this pan roof, fascia, gutter, rather than solid roof or insulated roof. I must be missing something because I find this extremely redundant.
This installation method wont cause the stucco to crack from pressure or loads against the wall?
+Michael Mazzucco Yes, the stucco MAY crack, but thats what concrete does, gets hard and cracks. The lath paper is what actually keeps the moisture out of the house. Another method would be to cut the stucco out, install the ledger direct to the wood studs, flash and repair stucco around the ledger. This would be a better method but well beyond the typical DIYer's capabilities. The method on the video is approve by the Riverside Country, CA building department.
gret music!
I'm thinking using this product for the ledger board soon what do you think? Simpson Structural Screws SDWS . What's the length of bolt or screw sdws. that you recommended for 2x12x16 board attached to stucco wall? . Thanks for the video www.strongtie.com/products/connectors/SDWS-SDWH.asp
***** Thanks Robert. Simpson SDWS screw it stated replaced traditional lag bolt and it stamped on the head for easy inspection. This vid from Simpson strong www.strongtie.com/videolibrary/sdws.html
***** I have another question I want to anchor a 4x6 with Z-MAX galvanization 4x6. It recommend to use 5/8 anchor bolt, My concrete slap only 3 1/2 thick. Any solution for this?
when driving in the leg bolts you should first caulk the hole. That way you seal out any moister that may come down behind the stucco. Also you should use treated wood due to stucco being pervious the wood will suck the moister out of the wall..
+Dusty G. Yes, you should caulk all the holes and back of the ledger board prior to installing the bolts. I recommend painting the 2x6, doug fir #2 rather than using treated wood. Treated wood is not structural and should not be used to hold up your cover.
Steel posts ARE included in freestanding kits. If your cover is very large or needs high snow loads our standard cloverleaf steel posts are not strong enough and you need 1/4" thick walled 3" x 3" or 4" x 4" square steel posts. If this is the case and you are not in So Cal then it makes more sense to get the heavy gauge steel posts locally rather than paying us to ship them. We can ship them with your kit if getting them locally is not an option. Thank you for your inquiry, Christina Trear
Robert, I got a quote from Alumawood and specified a freestanding installation. The automated reply stated that steel posts are not included in the parts supplied by Alumawood and that the customer is responsible for supplying these posts. I noticed that the Alumawood cloverleaf posts are not solid. Can you expand on the posts? In other words, are the cloverleaf posts all that are necessary or is there another steel post set inside the cloverleaf posts? Please advise.
