      i think you can adjust your backswing size or your body forward movement to control the depth. i think the video is insightful and i am going to try it.

      yes. i don't think i have framed more than 10 shots in 35 years and lifting has not been the cause of it. but this debate of "rise on the ball" or "stay low" will never be resolved. There will always be people on both sides of this argument. The proponents of "stay low" actually cannot properly time their lift; so they say it's incorrect. Two different schools. Once people get used to a rhythm, they cannot figure out how the other rhythm works.

    Don’t even think about increasing racket speed until all your strokes can be consistently be hit with a unity of body and arm and racket. No one who understands and can do this is unable to begin increasing racket head speed. This obsession with racket head speed is hurting the progress of the actual viewers here - amateurs who lack consistency, shape and accuracy. Complete nonsense.

  • @danezu791

    How do ensure that when your racket meets the ball, does not slow down the racket head speed? I believe this resistance causes me to alter my racket swing. Should I hit ball in the center of the racket or apply more acceleration?

    • @topspin1715
      @topspin1715 9 днів тому

      If you prepare properly and sufficiently coiled all your body parts there is nothing else extra to do but to unwind and hit. To apply extra acceleration by forcing your swing will muscle it. Think about it this way, instead of focusing on the result, focus on the preparation instead.

    To EVERYONE saying she's wrong, the point is to fix a specific problem - hitting on the way down. To do that, she's trying to get your brain to think about straightening out your arm and legs at the same time. Feel vs real. You need to FEEL like you're straightening your arm and legs at the same time but in reality your legs are straightening slightly before your arm. Now you're not hitting on the way down anymore. That's how you teach, that's what she's doing.

    I do exactly what you’re describing in the video. I practice serving diligently; however, it’s not always like when I’m playing in a match. I’m going to start implementing the strategy that you’re describing. When I’m playing a match I do bounce the ball 3 times before I start my service motion. When I’m practicing, I usually hold 3 balls and never bounce them before the ball toss. After watching this video I’m going to make sure that every practice serve simulates the actual routine that I would do in a match. Thanks for sharing this video. Hopefully I’ll be able to cut down on my double faults.

    I think to get the maximum benefit of wrist slapping the ball, it is better to contact the ball a little further in front of you to allow for more racket head snap. Anyhow good teaching.
