Why did you decide to not use Rtoms black holes for the snare? I'm looking for an alternative for remo silent strokes as imo they feel like cheating and everytime i get back to a real drumkit I realise that may doubles aren't as solid as I thought. But the Prologix Alln1 is quite expensive, so I'm thinking about getting the rtoms...

Thank you Ed. I've been playing since the 60's and I found your video informative ie; counting the turns to get halfway. It's common sense but I never thought of that 'cause I used to loosen all the way, then install. The video quality and sound are top notch and what I expect. I seem to have an issue where I go through the steps, it sounds nice for a bit, and then it sounds like the wires begin to lose connection with the resonant head. I’ve tried everything and nothing seems to fix that. Any idea what could be causing them to lose tension? I’ve tried different snare wires and heads but nothing makes a difference.

Any idea how the RTOM Black holes compare to the TAMA Soft Sound Ring mutes for the toms?

i think Low volume cymbals are the way to go. They sound like cymbals with decay and everything. And the amount of time it takes to put the mutes on...is the same as switching cymbals AND they sound so much better. Like cymbals only low volume!! I use LV cymbals n the Black hole mesh mutes SO good. Tip: Chang low volume cymbals on Alibaba... you're welcome
