Not to be smart but the amp was actually tested on December 4th 1970... so almost a 1971... the English put the day 1st, month 2nd and year 3rd
Man play that frankie
My marshall tube amp sounds like its bubbling noises when i turn it on
Never trust a guy with the sniffing 😂😂😂😂😂
The uni-vibe you made sounds really good. What LDR do you use?
@@ubebe1 LDR’s came from a co, that went under. They were used on organs and they have no part number
you sell all the components and the pcb? how much ?
@@masonlewisdiesel carbon film resistors, electrolytic capacitors, ceramic capacitors, film capacitors, diodes, transistors, LDR’s, light bulb and transformer?
Commenting because I appreciate what you're doing. My dream is a reverse engineered sabbadius woodstock funky vibe. Any ideas about specifics to that univibe circuit in particular?
That build should have 3 trim pots, 1 for the gain, 2nd for the offset and 3rd for a phaser adjustment. everything else is the same. Just build an original one facebook.com/reel/1421258985259688

@@thomascleveland Not even close, I do it so people could enjoy their lives with music
@@conjering so, I am new to this, bear with me for a sec. These three trim pots in the woodstock version you’re talking about. For gain, offset, and phaser, which spots would those correspond to on your board?
Hey Art! I own an old Uni-Vibe I bought new in the very early 70's. It needs some help. I just bought a board on eBay from you. I actually built my own board a while back, I still have the original board also. I'm going to get this sucker revived come hell or high water! Thanks Much! I also owned a 1973 50 watt Marshall I bought brand new, with two 1960 cabinets. In other words, a whole stack. It was a dream come true back then, I sure wish I still had the Marshall. I do have a couple of 1978 Marshall 1960's an A and B. I also used to have a 1954 Gibson Les Paul, but I don't any longer and it's a sad story I hate to talk about!
How can I help you,
@@conjering Hey, believe me I appreciate it so much just the fact that you are reaching out! I need to find some time to try and figure out exactly what my plans are to move forward with the rebuilding of this beast. I will certainly keep you informed. Thanks Again Art, you are the Best!

I’m glad to see you’re still documenting this project years later. I’m an electrical engineering student and I have been using your videos to understand LFO audio circuits. I’m quite new to pedal building, just a few transistor fuzzes under my belt, but I hope to work my way up to building one of these sometime in the near future. Do you think you could show a demo of this pedal with the intensity knob turned all the way up?
Awesome, I’m going to make a video from start to finish

Ive got a chance to get a 1975 superlead for 1600 bucks right now. I imagine it will need some servicing, your videos will be very helpful..

In my experience, although it's hard to communicate with sellers, aliexpress will offer refunds. Sometimes 50% ?? I bet.you could do a good job of.gluing that up. A drag though...
How do they compare to axial mustard caps?
Mustard Axial and radial sound the same to me.
Your amps look amazing. Great attention to detail. I have 5 or so amps planned for the year. I've got an origin 50 to convert .It's probably gonna be a hand wired 1987. I have a bunch of mustard caps I'd like to use in it, but part of me thinks it would be a shame to use them in an origin, lol.
Use the Mustard Capacitors on a Vintage build
@@conjering yeah totally. I'll save em and eventually put a proper plexi build together.
I'm converting an origin 50 to a 1987 some time soon.. I've got a bunch of mustard caps I salvaged from a reel to reel.. I may use em. It will definitely have a Lar Mar . It's my favorite for plexis and bassmans.
Awesome dude, let me know if you need help.
I have a 71 Marshall bass model and it sounds great! And a 72 100 watt super bass which has a blown transformer. What kind of transformer would be good to use to get the same power and sound?Thank you.
Heybeor
Which is it. PT or OT?
I here a bit of Southern Comfort Ry Cooder....sounds good !
My year
The date isnt 1445. I believe its upside down. Which is what i believe to be 5/7/71. So its july 5th 1971. England uses day month year abbriviations. This video is really cool i have a 1971 SL from march 15th and im working to get it back in order!!
Great, thank you for the info
Very cool

Proprietary LDR’s
Hey Art, if I send you a picture of this amp, I’m looking at to buy you could look at the board and see what’s original
Yeah sure
Did you send the photos?
Nice I’m gonna try something like this one day.
It's not that hard, I don't think I got it right
Send me your email I can share
I have the same rotary switch in a mid 1940s Triplett tube tester. That is one rare switch. And damn fragile. Never thought I'd see another one
Are there any screen resistors that can be installed to this amp that can handle both 5881 and el34 ? that way if you want to go back to either tube type there's no need to mod again
It was tested on 4th of December 1970 we don't use US date conventions in the UK we use ours perhaps you should check these things mate
There are amp techs that swear up and down that the brand or manufacturer of caps doesn't matter. They claim you can replace any foil cap with any foil cap and they sound basically the same.
The wiring is fine, it appears some effort went into twisting and tucking them away for noise cancellation. The biggest issue by far appears to be the corrosion and rusting throughout the amp - any grounding is potentially compromised if the chassis is no longer a solid grounding material, leading to arcing, sparking and large filter caps exploding in a dramatic fashion. No way. I wouldn't have worked on it unless it was being transplanted to a new, non-compromised chassis
Is it possible to get the schematic? Greets from germany
I do not have a schem. I used a Layout that is not complete.
I am planning a 68' SLP build and was wondering if you know if the Heyboer output and power transformers that APD offer are the same as what you used for this? Also do I need to get the laydown version of the PT for the 68' 12 series.
@@conjering I found those model #s on APD's heyboers. Just wondering if they are the same wind, etc as what you used here.
@@willdenham I don't know, I requested 20 PT and OT to 68 spec's 15 years ago

Mucho bueno. Mucho good-o 🤘🏿
I picked up a MINT 1969 year 1986 Bass head 50 watt dead not working getting it reworked all transformers tested and rewound if need be One Bad Larry
Yes indeed - not much around on these amps, strangely. I'm just about to replace the vales on one side of mine (9100). But I'm keeping it stock so 5881/6L6. What was the bias before you changed it or what do you recommend?
I've never seen that tube tester and matcher. Those seem really nice!👍
Xf2 mullard single getter sound more sweet that double getter ,you confirm?
It's honestly too close to even tell a difference in most amps, unless you're talking about amps that really show Power tube Sonic differences
Sounds great
Thanks
