I can't speak for Japan but in the USA, manual transmission are rare. I never learned to drive a manual and I'm over 30.

I took my driver's license test in a manual transmission vehicle in the USA, but we don't get a special license in my state. It's still a regular C-class license. I'll be impressed if Shion the garlic can rev-match downshift while braking, and do it smoothly.

I don't think that's a thing in the USA? it at least isn't in my state. I have learned how to drive a manual btw but I've forgoten it since it was basically useless to me. I'm not a car nerd who thinks old cars are cool (nor to I care about the other use cases for manual like racing) and all the cars I ever need to drive end up being automatics. Frankly a driver's license is just a tool to me.
